MLBTV used to work for me, up until today. I subscribed and used a proxy, but it's no longer working for some reason. Anybody else experiencing problems?

It seems that the Jays are very good at developing pitching talent. In addition to all the young arms helping us now, many of the players on the team are here as a result of pitchers we've traded away. But looking at the position players, we don't have a lot of homegrown talent: C: Russell Martin: Dodgers sytem. Acquired as free agent. 1B: Colabello: Twins system. Claimed off waivers. 2B: Devon Travis: Tigers system. Acquired via trade (Gose).: 3B: Josh Donaldson: A's sytem. Acquried via trade (Lawrie+2 pitchers+SS prospect) SS: Tulowitzki: Rockies system. Acquired via trade (Reyes+3 pithers) RF: Bautista: Pirates system: Acquired via trade. CF: Pillar (homegrown) LF: Revere: Phillies system. Acquired via trade. (pitching prospects) DH: Edwin Encarnacion: Reds system. Acquired via trade. Main Backups: C: Navarro (Yankees system) 1B: Smoak (Rangers system) 2B Goins: (homegrown) If we do have a problem, maybe we should trust in our strenghts, and focus on developing pitchers, which we can then trade away for position players.

So, on Friday, our four starters will have the following amount of rest: 1) Price: 3 days rest 2) Stroman : 1 days rest 3) Estrada: 4 days rest 4) Dickey: 3 days rest Based on that, we should see our rotation set up as follows, assuming there isn't anything wrong with Price. Friday: Estrada (4 days) Saturday: Price (4 days) Monday: Stroman (4 days) Tuesday: Dickey:(6 days) Wednesday: Estrada:(4 days) Friday: Price (5 days) Saturday: Stroman (4 days)

Colabello in. Nice! I have to say, even though I'm a big believer in Cola, I did not expect people to be raving about his defense.

So, in 2016, we should have: 1) Kevin Pillar: I don't think anyone expected him to be this good, except overly optimistic young Hebrew-speakers. 2) Michael Saunders: We've pretty much forgotten about him, but he's a solid player that we need to make room for, and we have control for one more year. 3) Dalton Pompey: Good young player with a ton of potential, that is a natural CF'er. In the corner outfield spots, we have Jose Bautista and Ben Revere. What should be done to clean up this mess?

Weird. I wonder if World Series winning walk-off home runs, influenced the voting process.

Nah. After they win the World Series, Jose is gonna be chill. Multiple years of not making the post season for a player of Jose's calibre has to be frustrating, but once he tastes the champagne, the Jays will have fulfilled all their promises to him, and he'll have nothing to complain about regardless of what happens next year.

I don't think they give out an MVP for the ALDS, but if they did, who would be your pick? I think I'd have to go with Pillar at this point. The only pitchers to do well were Dickey and Estrada, but each only had one start. No one has really stood out with the bats, but Colabello, Donaldson and Pillar are probably the top three. But Pillar should probably get it based on his defense. He has been phenomenal out there. I don't expect too many people expected him to turn into a GG centerfielder. I think most of us thought he was unlikely to handle CF at all.

I suspect the logic is Price > Norris + Boyd + Laibourt. Therefore, we won that trade. Things like salary and years of control aren't really factored in.

Let's say everything is a small sample size. Doesn't it seem odd that the Jays management would decide to let Price pitch a few innings in relief of a 7-1 game, rather than let our ace start Game 5? It seems obvious they've lost confidence in him, and as much as they talk about needing a lefthander for today's 7-1 game, it seems clear they feel far more comfortable with Stroman.

Be careful with StubHub. I tried to buy 2 tickets for $200 each, and they ended up costing over $600 once you factor in exchange rates, and other hidden fees. Site really is a scam. Somebody needs to build a Canadian version of it that transacts everything in Canadian dollars.

Pretty sure we didn't agree to give up Boyd, Norris and Labourt to get a long reliever. On his last regular season start, he gave up 4 ER in 5 innings. Then he had 10 days off, which seems odd. His first start in Game 1, was not good. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 5 ER. His next appearance (today) he pitched 3 innings, and gave up 3 runs. Three consecutive poor appearances. Strikeouts are down. HR are up. And if that isn't telling enough, they've shifted him from starter to relief pitcher, opting to skip the start of our ace, favor of Dickey and Stroman. Is there something wrong with Price? If not, why have the Jays' management lost so much confidence in him, that we are skipping his start?

Price is obviously suffering from arm fatigue. It's not like they're going to announce it though. I'll be surprised if he starts another game in the post-season.

By now, it seems pretty obvious that there is something wrong with Price. 1) They held him back, so he didn't pitch for ten games before Game 1. 2) He wasn't that effective in Game 1. 3) They warmed him up, in case they wanted him to pitch out of the bullpen tonight. 4) He isn't being considered for Game 4. At this point, it's unlikely that he's going to start another game in the playoffs. There's clearly something wrong with him - either fatigue or a minor tear.

OK, it's 5-1. The entire bullpen had yesterday off to recover. Price needs to pitch Game 5. We've already screwed up Price's schedule once. Any theories?

I think it was a dirty slide, but this thing has been going on for a long time without penalization. It seems inconsistent to apply it now. I think they should have let it go, and dealt with it in the offseason, and announced greater enforcement of the rules in the offseason. Plus, I was really looking forward to seeing the Mets drill Utley.

I know the season is on the line, but surely there must be a better alternative than to completely screw up Price and Stroman's next start. What exactly would we do for Game 5 if Price and Stroman pitch tonight. Bring back Buehrle?

Yeah, happy to see Cola in there. But don't understand why they have Martin sitting (.937 OPS vs LHP this year) against a lefty. Navarro is decent against lefties too, but just not as good as Martin.

It's like an 'Israeli accident'. You aren't trying to hurt them, but you aren't particularly concerned if someone does get hurt.

So Chase Utley slid into second hard enough to break up the double play, and break Reuben Tejada's leg. Similarly, Chris Coghlan had a similar slide which broke Jung-Ho Kang's leg, earlier in the season. In both cases, the runner ran far behind second base, with no attempt to even touch the bag. In both cases, the runner started their slide so late, they could not have even stayed on the bag. The rules already exist to prevent this stuff. Is it time to get umpires to start enforcing the rules? For instance, if a runner runs into a defender, without even touching the bag, I think both he, and the runner going to first should be out. Additionally, that player should be tossed out of the game, and possibly suspended. Utley better watch himself for the rest of the series.

If we're looking to go further in the playoffs, I think we should go with Dickey. That way everyone keeps their schedule. No one pitches on three-days-rest, and no one has an eight-day layoff, before pitching agian. Plus, if the Rangers face Dickey, it will give Price an edge in Game 5. The thing about Dickey is that he's either on or he's off, and it won't take very long to figure it out. I say let him start Game 4, and if he's got control issues, put in Price, but otherwise, let him pitch. He's demonstrated he's up to the challenge.
