Reyes and Laffey get a lot of grief, but those guys were actually pretty decent for us.
In Reyes' starts in 2011, we won 9 or those games, and lost 11. Not bad for a #6 pitcher that we were paying next to nothing for.
In Laffey's starts in 2012, we won 7 of those games and lost 9. Again not bad for a #6 pitcher who cost us peanuts.
The job of the #6 pitcher isn't to throw a complete game shutout, it's to pitch five of six innings, while giving the team a chance to win.
Those guys know they're not Clayton Kershaw, but they get out their and bust their ass trying to keep their team in it, while the fans dump on them.
