  1. Any reason why you guys can't increase the number of guys allowed on the farm to allow people to try different strategies?
  2. Why would you want to ban me? I'm not even black.
  3. A lot of people have basically written Izturis off. In 2013, he had the wost offensive and defensive years of his career. His last negative WAR year before that was 2004 with the Expos. He's usually a plus defender and decent with the bat. So, perhaps we shouldn't discard him based on one bad year. Since we don't have many better options, he has my vote to the starting 2B for 2015. Hopefully, he turns things around and puts up 2 WAR this season.
  4. You're saying she was cute five years ago, but age took it's toll? Ouch.
  5. Kind of a shame that we didn't pick up Cabrera. I mean $2.5 million to get a middle infielder of his quality, would have been a steal. We really don't have anyone good at second now, and we're a black hole at short if the oft-injured Reyes goes down. Yet, Baltimore who doesn't even have room for him scoops him up. I assume it must be because we're pretty confident on getting Olivera. There's no other logical reason.
  6. Every single team in MLB can claim they would win if only it weren't for those stingy owners. The Jays have an additional barrier to landing free agents in that many of them aren't interested in coming to Toronto. Similarly, everyone with a no-trade clause has Toronto on that list. The problem is not that they are not spending enough. The problem is that they trade off our young assets for older veterans so that they can take a shot at playoffs for 1 or 2 years, when every thing comes together. Instead, they should trade the veterans for young talent and build something sustainable, so that we can compete every year.
  7. I got $5 saying the admins change the rules or make an exception.
  8. The player with the second highest WAR in the American league last year will earn $3.4 million less than Ricky Romero.
  9. In fairness to BBBB, didn't you encourage him to join (maybe it was someone else, I could be wrong), and then when he expressed interest, you seemed to think it was a joke that we were even considering him? Not really the nicest thing to do, so I get that he's upset with you. You shouldn't really toy with people like that. Making jokes at other people's expense isn't really cool either. Not that it justifies the slurs.
  10. Well, I think it's time to call quits on this league. There isn't enough interest from the forum regulars, and while there are probably some good drafters among the newbs, it's hard to know which are going to persevere and which aren't. Communication is especially hard, with each response taking a week or more, and even then, only getting about 50%. I don't really want to get into a situation where I've collected money from nine people, only to have to refund it all. I've had a couple of regulars, who had signed up, contact me to tell me they were out. Ah well, there's plenty of 5x5 money leagues out there, for those anxious to get into a redraft league. Sorry guys.
  11. In for sure (assuming minimum of 12) 1) AdamGreenwood 2) Jays4Life19/Orfgiller And yes, it's an auction for sure. I don't really have the interest in running a snake draft. Enough of those already. And from this point on, there's no more 'conditional in's'. You're either in, or not in.
  12. Alright, well.... The response has been a little underwhelming. We had 20 guys on the list. Of those 20, we have 15 signed up, although several of those aren't of the original list. We have very few regular posters, and a lot of newbies. Of those 15, we have 7 that have responded to the poll with the date. So, I'm hesitant to start the league, and ask for money, but here is what we are going to do. 1) We are going to hold the draft on Sunday, March 8th at 7:00 PM 2) Everyone will send me $20 before the draft starts through PayPal at jariax@hotmail.com The number of roster spots will be as follows: C 1B 2B 3B SS LF CF RF EH SPx5 RPx4 BNx2 20 players: 20 roster spots. (Payout $20 3rd place regular season $50 2nd place regular season, $20 3rd place post-season, $50 WS finalist, $130 regular season champ, $130 post-season champ) 18 players: 21 roster spots. (Added bench spot) (Payout $50 2nd place regular season, $50 WS finalist, $130 regular season champ, $130 post-season champ) 16 players: 22 roster spots. (2 Added bench spots) (Payout $40 2nd place regular season, $40 WS finalist, $120 regular season champ, $120 post-season champ) 14 players: 23 roster spots. (Added corner infielder) (Payout: $ (Payout $40 2nd place regular season, $40 WS finalist, $100 regular season champ, $100 post-season champ) 12 players: 25 roster spots. (Added middle infielder and outfielder). (Payout $20 2nd place regular season, $20 WS finalist, $100 regular season champ, $100 post-season champ) Categories will be: Hitting: AVG, OBP, SLG, Runs, RBI, HR, Net Stolen Bases. Pitching: ERA, WHIP, K/BB, K, Quality Starts, SV, HLD Post here that you are in for sure. If we have 12 or more people post before end of February, this is a go. Once we go over 12 people, I will request you to send me the money. If we don't have 12 people agree to the terms by March 1st, we're not going to run the league.
  13. Based on our current voters, looks like a Sunday night works best for everyone. Once we get up to ten votes, we'll solidify a date. Based on what I've seen, I think we can estimate about 20 minutes per roster spot. That's just one minute per player. So with a roster of 20 players, we're looking at about 6 hours, 40 minutes. If we want a full roster of 25, we're looking at 8 hours, 30 minutes. I think with this many people, a nice compromise, would be to auction the first 14 rounds, and then snake draft the rest, with priority based on who has the most money left over. At 14 rounds, it should take us about 4 hours 40 minutes. Another alternative would be to pause the draft, and resume it at a future date, but that involves lining up two dates that work for everybody. Anyway, we can have a vote on it, once we solidify our participants. I know people want to auction the whole thing, but I think it is going to be hard to get 20 people to commit for 8 to 9 hours, and I would like to offer some bench depth as well.
  14. Well, we have 13 signed up. Don't know if North of JFaS are gonna join us. Anyways, I've set up a poll. Please be as flexible as possible. We'll wait to see what works for the 13 that have signed up, and then if we agree on a date, we'll have a fixed date, for when we open up the invitations. https://doodle.com/9whmfqqhapm6cgta Please go to the site, fill out the dates that can work for you, and leave a name to identify you, with your Yahoo login.
  15. Yahoo forces you to pick a date when you're setting up the league. I'll send out a survey once we have our tentative 20 signed up.
  16. Sorry man, got you mixed up with another guy. I'll shoot you one.
  17. Alright, we have nine signed up so far. Hopefully, others check in soon. We'll open it up again on Friday night.
  18. Pretty creepy, when you consider his daughter is four-and-a-half.
  19. I've sent PM's out to all of the non-regulars. We'll give it 72 hours to get everyone signed up, before we offer those spots out. Don't worry BBBB, 99.9% sure you'll get in. Once we have 20 signed up, we can tweak the rules etc, a little, and then see if we can find a date that works for everybody.
  20. Playoffs is just going to be the Top 8 teams. Ok, I guess people need to send me their emails, so that I can send them invites to the league.
  21. 1) Adam Greenwood 2) Spittin 3) Chappy 4) Boxy 5) CanadianSportsJunkie 6) P2F 7)Jays4Life19/Orgfiller 8) Canuck of Chicago 9)VanBJFan 10) EddieK19 11) MetsGuy 12) TBJ12 13) godJPA 14) L54 15)JaysAllMighty 16) McD 17) GD 18) North (maybe) 19) Hurl (maybe) 20) JFaS (maybe) Ok, we lost one which gives a spot to Canuck of Chicago. So, with 20 players, I'm going to go ahead and set up the league and send out messages to the 20 interested players. I'll give it three days for people to join the league, before we try to recruit other members to fill empty spots. Payments won't be made until we have twenty people all confirmed into Yahoo. We'
  22. Yeah, we did an auction on Yahoo last year, and it ran pretty smoothly. I don't know about FanTrax. Not that familiar with it, so I'd rather just stick with Yahoo as I like the interface a lot better. I'm open to it though if you have some reasons. As far as I can tell, the advantages of FanTrax are: 1) Has more obscure minor league players that won't affect a redraft league. 2) Has more funky statistics which apparently none of you want anyway. 3) Has payment collection and tracking (I do like this, but it means we would all have to pay an extra $3.) I'll ask JFaS which is better from an administration point of view.
  23. People keep telling me QS is dumb, but fail to elaborate on why.
  24. Ok, for stats, we are going to use: Hitters: R, HR, Net SB, RBI, AVG, OBP, SLG Pitchers: QS, K, SV, HLD, ERA, WHIP, K/BB Basically the same as most 7x7 leagues, except we're using Net SB, and QS. I am open to changing QS to Wins if someone provides a good argument. For the draft, I'm thinking we go ten rounds of auction, and then just do a regular draft with 6 hour intervals. Doing twenty+ rounds of an auction with 20 people will take a long time, and there's always one jackass left with $2 who refuses to spend his last extra dollar. For Yahoo purposes we'll just do ten rounds through the draft, and then I'll do the rest manually. Again, this is open for debate, but I think this is a good compromise. For rosters, I'm thinking: C 1B 2B 3B SS EH RF LF CF SP1 SP2 SP3 SP4 SP5 RP1 RP2 RP3 P BN1 BN2 BN3 I may add/reduce the total number of spots, depending on whether or not we're going to do only 10 rounds of auction, or the whole thing as an auction. Eligibility: 10 games from previous season, 5 games from current season. Minimum Innings Pitched per week: 20 5 moves per week. Prize Distribution: Total Money = $400 1st Place Regular Season: $140 2nd Place Regular Season: $40 3rd Place Regular Season: $20 Playoff Winner: $140 Finalist: $40 3rd place: $20 So, the maximum that any one person could win is $280 if they finish first in the regular season, and win the playoffs.
  25. I'd rather the Jays spent the $80 million and picked up Moncada, but with the Canadian dollar in freefall, we're lucky to be at the level of spending that we are.
