  1. Totally cherrypicking stats to make Syndergaard look better. You don't even have holds on this comparison FFS.
  2. Matt Hague is going to Japan. A bit disappointing, as was looking forward to having Hague as depth. Not sure why Jays would let him go for $300,000. Can only assume Hague had a chance to make some decent money and Jays didn't want to stand in his way, and couldn't make the same commitment.
  3. Comparing bad trades to rape, is still OK though, right?
  4. Don't worry. If it's close, I have every confidence that the Jays will trade off multiple top prospects for the privilege of renting an ace for two months.
  5. It sure was frustrating watching Gibbons trot out every reliever (including David Price) except Hendricks in the playoffs. Kind of lost track of how many games we lost due to poor bullpen/starter management.
  6. Should be announced around 6:45 If it's Lorenzo Cain, I'm gonna lose it.
  7. Ok, so some people want to go with Thole. So, we put a guy in projected for a .277 wOBA with a 70 wRC+ vs Navarro who is projected for a .308 wOBA with a 93 wRC+ Navarro's also projected for 1.1 WAR vs Thole who is projected for 0.1, which is generous considering he hasn't been above 0, since 2011. I didn't see that many of Dickey's starts though, so not sure how badly Martin handled them. Is it a one WAR difference? Also, if we don't go with Navarro or Thole, who do we go as for our backup catcher? Suggestions?
  8. I think we have to give him a chance to explore the market to see if he can get a starting gig. But if he can't get one, I'd love to have him back, as a backup. He and Estrada work very well together, and as backup catchers go, he's pretty good. And $4 million for one year might get it done. The Jays tried all year to trade him and found no takers, so I don't think there is a ton of demand for him. People say we don't need him, but good luck finding a better backup catcher for less.
  9. I'm pretty happy with that trade. The Sox lose some very good prospects, and use up ~12 million/year on Kimbrel, that they no longer have available to fix that s***** starting rotation. Last year, when the Sox were sitting on a pile of ridiculous offensive talent and prospects, they couldn't find a trade partner to get a starting pitcher, which was absurd given the imbalance Boston had between offense and defense.
  10. I don't see any way they can justify giving this to Morales over EE, unless EE qualified as a 1st baseman, and not as a DH.
  11. So does this mean we re-sign Navarro too? I say, give the guy a chance to test the market and see if he can find a starting gig. If not, let him know the door is open for him to return as a backup for $4million. He and Estrada worked pretty well together, and his offense is not bad, as backup catchers go.
  12. NL: Matt Harvey. Great pick. No one expected him to be any good in 2015. What a surprise to see him rebound. AL: Prince Fielder. Another great pick. This guys has been terrible for years. Everyone was shocked to see him put up some good numbers for a change. /sarcasm These awards are becoming kind of a joke. One injury year, or one-off year, and you qualify for comeback player of the year? I'm sure there's plenty of far more deserving candidates out there.
  13. What? Rawlings awarded Gold Gloves to undeserving players? Stop the presses!
  14. Hopefully, this is just posturing to get the Yankees to blow $180 million on him.
  15. I don't think anyone would stoop that low. That's just mean and disrespectful.
  16. Not every pitcher is more valuable as a starter than as a reliever. Yes, if they pitch with the exact same ratios for 200 IP isntead of 55 IP, that's better. But invariably, relievers do not pitch as well when they become starters, and starters pitch better when they become relievers. This is largely because they only face hitters one time through, so no batter gets a second chance against the pitcher.
  17. If Brad Miller fetches Karns+, I wonder what we could get for Goins. I would much rather have Goins at short than Brad Miller.
  18. This is who I would try to pick up: 1) Chen 29 years old 4/52 Need a solid starter and he's pretty inexpensive. 2) Kennedy 30 years old 3/36 (depends if Padres extend qualifying offer). 3) Jaso 31 years old 2/12 Looks amazing if he can back up catcher. Otherwise, not sure we have room for him. 4) Sipp 31 years old 2/10 Great stats. We need another lefty. 5) Mark Lowe 6) Shawn Kelley
  19. Permanent or interim?
  20. I was pleased to see Salvador Perez get the MVP. There's a bunch of douches on KC, but Perez is not one of them. Hard guy not to like.
  21. Hope the Mets come back and win, just to make those people regret leaving for the rest of their lives. Of course, I think we all knew this was over when Hosmer tied it up. Bullpen > SP
  22. Realistically though, If we had failed to make the playoffs this year, or even if we had been knocked out in the wildcard, no one would actually mind AA departing.
  23. No matter where he goes, and what he wins. it will never give him the same satisfaction that he would have gotten from seeing the players he drafted and traded for win. It seems unfathomable to me, that he walks away from the team, just as the team that he built is so close to delivering a championship. He'll likely never have that same opportunity again.
  24. "Who's to say that AA wouldn't sell high on Cola, Revere, and Sanchez and replenish some of the farm" That should bring in quite the haul.
  25. They're basically gonna make the intern do the job of the GM, but lowball him on the pay and title.
