  1. Only 8 years and $212 million left after this season!
  2. I don't know what the current record is, but I have a feeling Jose Fernandez just set the record for most strikeouts in a game by a 20 year old. 13 K, 0 BB through 7 IP.
  3. Jose Fernandez is kind of good at baseball. Also, Pujols may be done for the year per rotoworld.com DAT CONTRACT
  4. Mark Melancon is on the block for a pick/prospect. With Grilli out 4-8 weeks there is a solid chance Melancon will serve as a good-elite closer down the stretch. Chris Perez is also available as a less expensive option. I'm also interested in good middle relievers who can pick up holds.
  5. Jeff Locke 6 walks, 8 hits, and only 2 runs. THE TIME BOMB IS COMING.
  6. Just enough starts to secure 2B fantasy eligibility next year.
  7. Seeing what the Brewers fetched for K-Rod, I want to see a bullpen fire sale. Janssen has been great but I'd much rather trade him and start rebuilding the farm.
  8. I would be in favor of that as well. I think having top picks in every round is plenty of help.
  9. Yeah that's what I figured. The whole point of the non-snake draft is to give the weaker teams an advantage to help with their rebuilding.
  10. Nice move for both sides since it will probably be a high pick (I assume the draft is non-snake like actual MLB drafts)
  11. A lot of the time people say "a player is being moved at his lowest value" it's not actually true. The whole point of making a move now is because he has lost faith in Kemp, and wants to move him before people get an extended look at declining production (not saying I feel that way about Kemp, I'm just saying that's what my strategy would be if I felt poorly about him). My point is, if you have a slumping player and you think it's a realistic snapshot of what he's going to be moving forward, you move him. You don't wait around for people to start feeling the same way as you.
  12. Justin Masterson is dealing today. No hits or walks through 6 innings. Not in line for the perfect game as he hit a batter.
  13. We miss Kershaw and Greinke and face Capuano/Ryu/Nolasco. Too bad we s*** the bed this series.
  14. Buck and Pat are actually spot on about Hanley. He's been incredible this year. 3 WAR in 42 games.
  15. Lol watch us wake up tomorrow and see Sanchez + Osuna traded for Garza.
  16. The pitching the Pirates have got from their starters is pretty amazing. Liriano and Burnett have been very good. Cole has been solid. Locke has the lowest ERA but his peripherals show he should come back to Earth soon. I'm not sure when Wandy is coming back, but they definitely have good depth in their rotation.
  17. Albert Pujols will be 34 next season, and has only put up 4.1 fWAR 1.5 years into his front loaded 10 year contract (owed $212 million over the next 8 years aka 26.5 AAV) These first 3-4 years were supposed to justify (to a degree) the later years where he is older and declining. Last year was mediocre, and this year has been a trainwreck so far. So it now looks like they have a declining 34 year old for 8 more years at $26.5 a pop. That's not even acknowledging the potential age controversy, that he may actually be older. I think this will definitely go down as the worst contract of all time.
  18. There is no way in hell that Gose doesn't have a speed tool. It's fine to say he has a lot to work on with decisions on the base paths, but he is undeniably fast.
  19. I bet Haren is wishing he signed a longer deal right about now.
  20. The game is scheduled to start at 7:30? In other words we can look for the first pitch to be thrown around 8:45?
  21. Wow I didn't even notice this and it screwed me over in all 4 of my leagues. f*** me.
  22. Matt Devlin really knows how to rub salt in the wounds.
  23. Boni actually came through? I am baffled to why Francona would leave Masterson in after the last two walks. He was at 118 pitches and was having major control issues.
