  1. 8 of the Yanks batters are hitting from the left side vs Stroman (who often gets ground balls). It makes sense to go with the best defender possible at 2B, it's not like Pennington is that much better with the bat.
  2. I was there too! Didn't Matt Stairs have a chance to win it in the bottom of the 9th? That was an awesome game.
  3. Can't see that happening, they'd at least want him for the wild card game.
  4. I just meant he should be the favourite regardless of "big games". Although if I were a voter, I'd take that into consideration.
  5. It's 10 games, anything can happen. Having David Price for 2 more starts really helps their chances though.
  6. So he's 3-0 vs the Yankees in 4 starts and could be 4-0 if it wasn't for Sanchez on August 14th. Keuchel gave up 9 runs in a huge game vs Texas but rebounded on Monday. If he struggles vs Texas again on Sunday you'd think Price should be the clear cut favourite!
  7. I was there Monday. My beer can was literally shaking for half of the game.
  8. Samardzija threw a 1 hit, no walk shutout last night. Honestly he is the perfect buy low if there is such a thing. His pitch selection has been the problem this year, guy still has the velocity and the stuff is very much still there, and he is built to pitch 200+ innings into his 30s.
  9. If I were Sanchez, I'd be nervous too. Guy can't even throw his fastball for strikes, it's not his fault Gibbons decides that he should be the set-up man. I don't hate Gibbons but it's pretty much unanimous among all types of fans that Sanchez shouldn't pitch in those situations right now. Much like how every type of fan realized JPA was a horrible player... it's just painfully obvious.
  10. Tanaka hurt his hamstring. Will miss Wednesday's start.
  11. Are AJ Griffin and Jarrod Parker supposed to be ready for next year? If those guys can come back, their rotation seems alright. Gray/Griffin/Parker/Chavez and Graveman or some other scrub. Not too bad.
  12. Tanaka got bumped up to pitch tomorrow. Looks like we'll see him next Wednesday, should be a good game maybe Stroman should pitch that day.
  13. Haha. Ok you win.
  14. Ok so the actual fans applaud, and the casuals clap because they just go with the flow. Makes sense to me.
  15. It could be either way. I went to a couple of games in the last month and they seemed to cheer. I hate casuals half as much as gibbers, but they're not always extremely stupid despite what you guys think.
  16. Does this happen? From my experience even the casuals you hate can appreciate a good defensive play.
  17. Would go if this was the case. Unfortunately he's a serial killer.
  18. Gagne was 55/55 in save chances that year and people in the media went far enough to debate him winning the Lou Marsh award over Mike Weir when he won at Augusta. f***ing ridiculous. I didn't realize Prior did that as a 22 year old, could've been something really special.
  19. 1984 was the last year that a pitcher got traded midseason and won the Cy Young. Also it was the last year a player was traded in the prior offseason and went on to win the MVP the same season (I think, could be missing someone).
  20. It happened in 2005 and 2006 I believe. 2005: Chris Carpenter and Pujols 2006: Morneau and Santana It hasn't been THAT uncommon, but certainly would be pretty cool.
  21. That is certainly true and should sway some voters. Just like with the MVP where it might matter when the hits are coming and not just the overall picture. Many of Donaldson's homeruns have either tied the game or put the Jays in the lead, which is impressive considering how many blowouts the Jays have had.
  22. I think traditional stats could still sort of be used in a historical context. If the season ended today, Greinke would have posted the lowest ERA in the last 20 years of any starter. Even with the steroid era that's really historical. It's the same reason I thought Miguel Cabrera deserved the MVP when he won the triple crown.
