  1. lol a KBO team has asked the league to suspend two minor leaguers they have for online sports betting, which is legal on Sports Toro in South Korea, but apparently not legal in the KBO (I guess they are worried about match fixing?). 50 game suspension, holy s***! https://en.yna.co.kr/view/AEN20210113011300315 SEOUL, Jan. 13 (Yonhap) -- The South Korean baseball club Doosan Bears said Wednesday they've asked the league office to suspend their two minor league players for gambling. The Bears said they recently learned that right-hander Jeong Hyun-wook had purchased Sports Toto lottery tickets and that catcher Kwon Ki-young had gambled on an illegal betting website. While Sports Toto is the only form of government-sanctioned sports betting in South Korea, Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) players are still prohibited from buying Sports Toto tickets. Gambling activities on any other channel are also banned. The Bears said they requested the KBO to designate Jeong and Kwon as "inactive" players, and added they'll fully cooperate with further investigation by the league office and legal authorities, as necessary. Once they're put on the inactive list, only the KBO commissioner can reinstate them. The Bears said they became aware of Jeong's betting activities after learning that the 21-year-old had accumulated debt. The club then interviewed all the other players about their personal financial situations and Kwon's illegal betting came up. Under the league rule guiding gambling, the first-time violators will face a suspension of minimum 50 games, 120 hours of community service, and a fine of 5 million won (US$4,560). The second offense will result in a ban of 70 or more games, along with a 10 million won fine and 180 hours of community service. The third violation will lead to a lifetime ban.
  2. blue jays news pls?
  3. It seems obvious to me that Bauer brought this up the year before his contract year to see if MLB would do anything to stop it. When they didn't do anything, there was no real reason not to use it himself, especially in a contract year. Pretty smart, actually.
  4. Hope Pete brushed up on his homework!
  5. Says the guy having a New Years Eve meltdown because someone made a trade he didn't like.
  6. When did you become such a whiny piece of s***?
  7. Holy f***, you don't like the deal, we get it. Nice little New Years Eve temper tantrum here. Please have a glass of champagne and go along with your day.

    Chara to Washington.
  9. Spanky says Play Ball!
  10. Only if you state the reason you landed in the slammer.
  11. I would be fine with bringing Frenchsoup back. What's wrong with a little axe-murder anyways? He just needs to find a way to manage his team from behind bars. Maybe a co-manager would help.
  12. What the f***? This is the worst 3-way deal I've ever seen.
  13. And another one to the list.
  14. Another guy whose wife wears the pants ^
  15. Sounds like your wife definitely wears the pants around the house.
  16. Maybe, JUST MAYBE, that wasn't true and the Padres actually offered more years + money? The same tweet said his family preferred a West Coast team. There's too many variables here to just hold onto one part of the negotiation.
  17. Darvish has a 10-team no trade clause. There's a good chance we were on it.
  18. mdthompFWFB @mdthompFWFB · 1m Zach Davies Reginald Preciado Owen Caissie Ismael Mena Yeison Santana For Darvish and Caratini.
  19. Yes Wilcox is a big piece. Coming around on it for the Rays. Still like it for the Padres side though.
  20. Hunt seems like the wildcard here. If you just look at his Fangraphs page he seems like a nobody. But Longenhagens tweets are pretty optimistic and he sounds like a dude. Have to remember we haven't seen these guys put up stats since 2019. So who really knows.
  21. I don't think this has as much to do with Mejia as it does to do with Patino. Mejia is just a guy they can option for a year then DFA if/when he sucks. Longenhagen is saying that Hunt is a top 100 prospect for him so if true that could be interesting as well.
  22. Not a fan of this for the Rays TBH.
