  1. He still paces 2.5 wins per season which makes him our 2nd best OF
  2. The Prince Fielder comp with Vlad is actually pretty similar. Decent walk rate, good k rates. Fielder was super durable. Only missed 13 games from 2006-2013 seasons.
  3. I wouldn't be surprised if Bichette gets one more year at SS while we have Merrifield at 2B and if he doesn't show improvement we try Barger who may project better or sign someone externally. I don't think they'll run Espinal as the everyday SS because he can't hit RHP.
  4. My issue with Vlad is what is he actually as a player. Is a 3 win 1B with a great bat or is he that 5+ win guy we saw in 2021. I'd offer Vlad like 10/250 + incentives. Bo you're likely looking at like 10/300 right now.
  5. Most likely but you'd probably be able to do it over a shorter term. I know we have a fair amount of money coming off the books next year with Gurriel, Ryu, Chapman, Garcia and Bass among others all becoming FA so we'd have room for Nimmo and likely one of Vlad or Bichette as well. But we'll have a fair number of holes to potentially fill that maybe going shorter term with a higher AAV isn't an issue. Shapiro seemed to hint that passing the CBT threshold isn't a concern for Rogers.
  6. I'm starting to hope that instead of making a splash on Nimmo we do something more like sign Kiermaier to play CF and have Conforto brought in to play LF. Potentially some marginal upgrades on Teo with Conforto and KK in a full season likely out performs Gurriel. Worse offensively but much better defensively. I just can't imagine how much they would run.
  7. Of all the contracts given out the only one I think I’d have been cool with the Jays doing is the Verlander one. I wonder what a win is worth now. It seemed to stagnate around 8m a year for like a decade.
  8. Good for Noda, he should get some playing time in Oakland. Still has solid MiLB numbers with that .395 OBP. Could very well turn into a 20/20 guy with a very low BA and a good OBP for Oak.
  9. The Mets have a 300M payroll and are still looking to add apparently.
  10. Is Reynolds a 3.5 win player like 19/22 or a 6 win like 21. I'd say he falls into that 3.5 win area.
  11. Well lads Pat Tabler looks like he's retiring as per Sportsnet Twitter. As an edit it looks like his contract wasn't renewed. Wonder if it's Dan and Joe or Dan and Ben or Dan and Buck.
  12. I could see Toronto signing a RF or trading for a RF like Nootbar who is above average in RF and keeping Springer in CF for one more season. Springer may be able to handle CF a bit better if he doesn't have two boat anchors in LF and RF.
  13. Carlos Santana's statcast page is still a nice page. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/carlos-santana-467793?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb I think he'll bounce back a bit in 2023.
  14. I'd take Gallo but wouldn't be unhappy with any of the three. Gallo is one season removed from being a 4 win player.
  15. Nimmo is elite defensively in the 90th percentile iirc. He gets on base like a fiend and the two years he was injured it was due to a collapsed lung and a bulging disc. He’s one of the best free agents available on the market and not only is basically Teoscar with the bat he improves the defence from one average and two terrible defenders to two good and one terrible in the OF.
  16. Nathan Lukes was added to the 40 man roster, which likely spends the end of Raimel Tapia.
  17. Lars Nootbar or bust imo. Just look at this statcast page https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/lars-nootbaar-663457 That is who you want.
  18. I'd do Nootbar + for Kirk. Nootbar's savant page is pretty. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/lars-nootbaar-663457
  19. I wonder how many ALE teams are going to be above .500 with the more balanced schedule. Does a team around .500 win the Central?
  20. I'd be non-tendering Zimmer and Tapia and bringing Zimmer back on a minor league deal. I'm open to trading Kirk or Moreno but am loathe trade to Jano. I'm of the opinion that he is potentially the best player on this roster. He's a strong defensive catcher and since May 1st of 2021 he has a 144 wRC+. Which is 12th in baseball in that period of time (tied with Vladdy and Kyle Tucker, 1 wRC+ behind Ohtani). He was on pace for a 5.2 win season this year. I'd prefer not trading Kirk or Moreno but I'd want young controlled starting pitching or an OF in the same boat. I'd be shopping Gurriel and one of Espinal or Biggio. I'd assume Merrifield is the starting 2B in 2023.
  21. I'd keep him. He's built a good team and I like the drafting he's done, the trading of prospects before they bust. I can't think of a single prospect he's traded who's actually done anything. I don't blame the loss on him. Mayza and Bass were f***ing brutal, players need to actually perform. I do think he needs to address the swing and miss in the bullpen. I don't know how much was out there that the team was interested in but they couldn't sign do the vaccine requirements at this time. I'm willing to give him another season.
  22. Spencer Strider broke Randy Johnson's MLB record to 200ks. He did it in 130 innings to Johnson's 130.2.
  23. It's a super small size Jim but he was serviceable with the Dodgers, serviceable with Jansen and has been s*** with Kirk. Who knows if it's game calling, regression or what but he shouldn't be throwing to Kirk.
  24. Spanky I'll see if I can track it down. But before today's start his ERA with Jansen was in the 3.4 range and over 12 with Kirk.
  25. If Jansen is catching White. White has pitched well to Jansen and has been horrendous with Kirk.
