  1. I think what may happen is Atkins is moved to another role with Click taking over as GM. Maybe Atkins moves into some role in the president of baseball operations umbrella. Who knows. I also don't think Atkins has done a bad job with building the team or org.
  2. He still wants to start and I don't see a way to get him starting time next season. Varsho will be in CF where he's a younger and better defender (at this point in their careers) with more offensive upside. Unless he wanted to be a 4th OF (which he likely doesn't) I don't see a way for him to actually make sense on the roster.
  3. Shapiro is doing a media availability next Thursday, I can't recall him doing one. It's likely about the renovations and future work but it could also be announcing James Click as a new GM if Atkins resigns tomorrow.
  4. Max value hypothetically could be getting a couple of MLB ready prospects who can contribute and free up 20M in payroll for someone like Bellinger. My issue is looking at teams presently I don't really see a fit for Vlad on most teams. Maybe the Padres, or the Pirates but this will look different in December.
  5. In 2021 he hit 21 home runs between TD Ballpark and Sahlen Field. That being said he had a 140 wRC+ at the RC last season and only 99 this year. His road numbers were actually better than 2022. I just don't know why he can't hit at the Rogers Centre this past season. I'm pro trading Guerrero. I saw him at Spring Training in 2022 and 2023 and he was a lot fatter this spring than last year and he's noticeable fatter than 2021 (reminds me of 2020). I wouldn't extend him long term so if we can get maximum value now I think it's the time to move on.
  6. I think a lot of it is the bulking he did in the winter to hit for more power. It's like he got big but stopped doing anything to retain flexibility.
  7. Barger seems to have been moved to RF and hasn’t played 3B in a while even when pinch hitting for Mason McCoy as an example and Martinez has been moved to 2B.
  8. Merrifield and Kiermaier are tied at 28.8 ft/s https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/sprint_speed?min_season=2023&max_season=2023&position=&team=TOR&min=10 Best base runner is Varsho and the worst are Kirk and Guerrero who are the worst and 26th worst base runners in baseball. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/baserunning?game_type=Regular&n=top&key_base_out=All&season_end=2023&season_start=2023&split=no&team=141&type=Run&with_team_only=1
  9. There's Jeimer Candelario but he has a pretty sad savant page. 1.9 WAR in 2020, 3.8 in 21, -0.1 in 22 and 3.3 ytd this season.
  10. I think we'll see Hudgens and Martinez let go but no other major turnover. I think we need to bring in a 3B whether that is Chapman (who we should offer a QO to) or Candalerio or a trade candidate. I'm pleasantly surprised with Biggio's play at 3B but don't want to bank on him being an everyday player in 2024. Barger seemingly has been converted to a RF/2B and Orelvis Martinez has been moved to 2B. I think that Davis Schneiider will fill a role similar to Merrifield this season where he'll play 2B and LF for 2024. Off the 40 man roster I would let every free agent leave. I'd DFA Cimber, Lopez and Espinal to help clear some 40 man roster space. I think we need to bring in another power bat whether it's a platoon bat like Joc Pederson or an everyday player like Teoscar or Bellinger we need someone to play LF that moves Varsho back to CF where his bat is acceptable with the quality of defence he plays. We have 4/5 of the rotation for next season ready and maybe Manoah is serviceable again in 2024 or maybe Tiedeman forces the FO hand, there's always going to be some MiLB depth signings that fill in. For the 'pen we're pretty set. Romano, Garcia, Mayza, Cabrera, Richards and Swanson are all under contract for 2024 and I think Green will likely take his option even if Toronto rejects their first player option.
  11. Good for a 114 wRC+. The offensive environment in AAA must be crazy this year.
  12. Im not surprised Manoah and his agent are looking to say he’s injured so he accrues MLB service time and pay for super two status this winter and with him having a lot of success even with a bad year this year he’d be in line for a pretty hefty pay raise.
  13. My friends Schneider had tied KK for third in fWAR at 2.2 in 21 games: the question becomes does he pass Chapman and Bo at 3.2 and 3.3.
  14. I don’t even think that Vlads ceiling is as high as we thought it was in 2021. He raked in the milb parks and hit basically like he did in 2022 once he got to the Rogers Centre. He’s really performed poorly at the Rogers Centre for his career. My biggest fear with Vlad is he has another year in 2024 like he had this year and is due something like 30m in arbitration for replacement level production and is either severely overpaid or a DFA candidate.
  15. Lets bring Handsome Randal home if he falls to us.
  16. I think if you can’t bring Chapman back you need to get Candalerio. There are not any good other options at 3B on the market.
  17. I'm genuinely amazed with Nolan Schanuel. Small sample size of 26 PA but he has a 26.6 BB% : a 7.7 K% as a 21 year old with 21 MiLB games.
  18. Since May 1st Biggio had a 125 wRC+. I believe in the adjustments. Also Laika looking at that spray chart does he seriously only have 7 balls into LF of fastballs and sinkers?
  19. I know for some of the Jays the same sizes are pretty small and I'm not including guys who have like 50 PA but the Jays wRC+ since May 1st Biggio 113 wRC+ Espinal 79 wRC+ Chapman 95 wRC+ Bichette 133 wRC+ Merrifield 112 wRC+ Kiermaier 111 wRC+ Kirk 87 wRC+ Belt 150 wRC+ Jansen 118 wRC+ Springer 109 wRC+ Varsho 81 wRC+ Guerrero 105 wRC+ - sine the wrist injury on May 6 he's 99 wRC+
  20. If a win is worth roughly 10M/season then Gausman should hit his contract value roughly this season or very early next year. Even Berrios should work out as a fair market deal when it’s all said and done. I don’t think we break even on Bassitt though but it was a needed signings for stability.
  21. Its 98 since he had the wrist injury just before May 9th. He’s been a horrendous bat for his position since the first month.
  22. I know it’s just a coincidence and I’m too lazy to look into it but I really feel like we score more runs on days Vlad sits lol.
  23. Biggio has a higher wRC+ thank Kirk, Guerrero and Chapman since May at 119. It’s a pretty small sample size but he’s been hitting if inconsistently.
  24. I was a bit surprised to see Vladdy sitting but he’s been cold for the last few weeks and likely is nursing the wrist. On looking into it since he hurt it again in May he’s been awful. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/vladimir-guerrero-jr/19611/game-log?position=1B&season=&gds=2023-05-09&gde=2023-08-05&type=0 He has a 98 wRC+ in his last 328PA I believe this was the same wrist he hurt last year and I’m hoping that they can correct any issues this off season and it’s not a permanent issue because if it is he’s likely not worth extending at all.
  25. Ernie Clement would be my choice.
