I’m still fairly certain that the Angels GM was told by Arte Moreno to trade for Wells or he was fired and the Angels approached AA.
I’m still pissed that Beeston and Rogers did that deal instead of allowing JPR to trade him which at the time was rumoured to the Dodgers for two prospects in Matt Kemp and Chad Billingsly.
I was genuinely just looking at STEAMER projections filtered by OF. It likely did count Betts as an OF.
For the Pirates it's counting Davis as an OF as STEAMER seems to think he won't be behind the plate other wise its Suwinski or whatever his name is and Reynolds. White Sox is using Eloy as an OF and expecting Vaughn to be in the OF and putting up 1.8.
If we didn't sign a DH I'd see Bellinger as an option but with Turner, Varsho, KK, Springer and Vladdy I just don't see a clear route to playing time allocation without a trade.
Bellinger on something like 6/150 or whatever bumping Vlad to DH would have been fine but I don't see a good fit with the roster now. Chapman is still a really good fit.
I heard that interview with Guerrero and he acknowledged he was hurt a lot last season so his off season workouts were designed around injury prevention.
I wouldn't expect a trade, my source is no longer with the Jays but I'm fairly confidant that things fell apart during discussions. This off season is f***ed for valuations.
Frankly I’d be happy with any of the 3 DH bats but Soler has been a league average and below replacement level player in 2 of the last 3 seasons. He has insane power but seems to constantly under perform his metrics. Similar to Morales in the past or Guerrero today.
I think the Bally Sports thing is a big hold up. My source who now works for a non Jays org was saying that they’re still not 100% sure what their operating budget for 2024 is.
I'm fine with Mauer getting in catchers are vastly under represented in the hall and Mauer is probably a top 20-25 catcher of all time.
It's going to be interesting when McCann and Martin come up for HoF eligibility as they're both as good if not better than Mauer and they're as good as Molina but Molina played in 500-600 more games than both.
Molina 55.6 fWAR, 56.4 WARp 2226 games
Mauer 53.0 fWAR, 46.4 WARp 1858 games
Posey 57.6 fWAR, 57 WARp 1371 games
Martin 54.9 fWAR, 55.7 WARp 1693 games
McCann 54.5 fWAR, 53.9 WARp 1755 games
A stimulant to someone with ADHD just levels out the craving for dopamine and other chemicals that the brain produces in too small a quantity. There’s three types of ADHD in hyper, inattentive and combination.
As someone with ADHD who was diagnosed in 2023 I’ve found the difference in how my day to day functions on medication are that I do things like remember to eat, do laundry, actually put laundry away, don’t look for excuses to not go to work and I hyperfixate on hobbies less.
My understanding is that Vlad used to swing with his top hand as the driving force pushing the bat through the zone instead of the bottom hand pulling the bat through the zone.
Doesn’t need to be a platoon DH but allows you to move a regular to DH against lefties so maybe a Grichuk who hits lefties well or Rosario who hits lefties well.
Grichuk would replace Lukes and Rosario would replace Espinal.
Personally I think if you go the Pederson route you need to get two more players.
I could see it going both ways. The comp is Alonso and Alonso is better. He’s a better hitter, better fielder, better base runner. I do think he will likely get his number. I know there’s comments about him signing a two year extension but I think the team wants to see what he does in 2024 as if it’s a repeat of 2023 I could see talks of non tender being sounded.
Gausman is like the 2nd best pitcher in baseball the last 3 seasons and the best in the AL since he’s come over. It always amazes me how people sleep on him
