  1. That's not exactly impressive when all the premier power forwards are in the west. Again, I don't profess to be an expert on the NBA but what other position would they target an upgrade? JV, Lowry and DeRozan aren't going anywhere, that leaves Ross and Amir.
  2. I don't follow the NBA close enough to know, is there a team out there they can trade with too make an addition for a playoff run? I'm not thinking these Raps are suddenly elite by any stretch, but really, a Legit PF that could push Amir to the bench whilst trading Landry Fields or Steve Novak or both would seem to be a good idea.
  3. Coach of the month for Dwane Casey, cool.

On a completely unrelated note, there's a defenseman on Winnipeg named Grant Clitsome. That's just awesome...

    James Neal...Taylor hall....Patrick Marleau...joe Thornton
  6. So who's on expiring contracts... Lowry and Patterson?
  7. Jesse Crain was on his way to a huge season last year before he got hurt. 1.9 WAR in 36.2 innings
  8. I don't see how they can miss the playoffs with their division being so absolutely awful. I don't think they can out-tank the bottom feeders even if they trade Lowry now.
  9. Raptors Tank nation is on life support. 4 straight wins including beating Indiana when the Raps where on the second night of a back to back, the last few games have actually not been agony to watch.
  10. It would be really admirable of him to point this out as a negative, if he didn't spend the rest of his article being a prime example of it.
  11. He did throw all his pitches in all locations, it was just easier for him since he only threw one pitch
  12. There's nothing on that old board other than dj dumbass stroking his own ego every 5 minutes, it's a cesspool of blissful ignorance.
  13. Have to be willing/able to throw all pitches in multiple locations or a pitcher would be way too predictable.
  14. Will be interesting to see how you come up with numbers on a change up, considering speed is very important, but its importance is tied to how much slower it is than the pitcher's fastball.
  15. Yes. In 2007 the BBWAA expanded it's membership to allow "full-time baseball writers who work for websites that are credentialed by MLB for post-season coverage." No bloggers allowed. Read all the fun stuff here: http://bbwaa.com/constitution/
  16. And the way it started out was writers in each baseball city were given votes because way back in the day, writers only really followed their own teams around, national exposure was just nowhere near the level it is today. And you never lose you vote, so the 80 year old dinosaurs that haven't covered baseball in 20 years still get to vote. It's too bad Stephen Brunt gave up his vote years ago knowing the controversy that the steroid era would cause, he'd be a guy I'd really like to hear from about all this
  17. I like it too, but when you put something like this out there and then end with "I won’t pretend my ballot is perfect. No ballot is perfect. All voters can do is take their best shot every year. And then try again." .... You're basically saying " I have a vote for the HOF and I can be as retarded as I want to be every year since nobody can really tell me I'm wrong."
  18. "In recent years, I have not voted for any first-timers, using my ballot as a form of protest, a way to distinguish players from the Steroid Era (however undefined it might be) from the greats of the past." Hate s*** like this... Just vote for who you think should be in, it's really a joke that writers like him feel the need to add their own ego to the voting
  19. it's more the fault of the 10 vote limit rather than the criteria as he explains in his other article
  20. Provides accompanying article explaining his thought processes
  21. No chance AA lands Tanaka. AA clearly has no ability to function in the free agent pitching market and this is basically that. I'm sure he put in the 20 million posting fee, and throw out some wacky offer that is less than 5 years and low on money because that's what the Jays "value" on him will be, which will be nowhere even close to market value.
  22. AA will probably send him through waivers right away anyways since this, once again puts the Jays at a full 40 man roster.
  23. Yeah I know what you mean. But my point is, if you're okay with Ozzie being in the hall and he's a guy who's value was defense only (and legitimately the best ever defensively), then logically you value defense, and Jones was legitimately elite defensively while also providing big value with the bat and doing it for a decade before injuries derailed him. When you compare jones to McCutcheon, you see Cutch with a decent edge with the bat, but very inferior defensively.
  24. Jones was never linked to steroids, so why does he get suspicion on him?
  25. I think Jones is going to suffer from the fact that he played so long after his elite years at a far lower level due to injury. To me, there's no question he was a hall of fame talent in his peak years.
