  1. Feels like Arizona should take this
  2. I guess it depends... he was negative WAR this year while hitting 28 HR.... that's not good. With his negative value on. .. everything that isn't hitting, he'd basically have to have a wrc+ of 115 to even be worth 1 WAR.
  3. Lol that would be hilarious
  4. He's young, so probably still subject to pools.
  5. True, but the injury risk goes up with age whether you're healthy while younger or not. That's true for everyone let alone athletes
  6. Their arms compare (Barfield's was better but his was otherworldly, Bautista's was merely great) but beyond that I agree. Barfield could actually run down balls. Bautista has been a fairly bad outfielder for the majority of his career but gets a pass from the casual observer because of his arm.
  7. I really hesitate to resign Donaldson when the goal to try and setup the team for a constand run of contention in the future, and you've got 2 potential blue chippers coming along within 2 seasons, and adding potentially 2 more to that as a trade return from a Donaldson move just makes all kinds of sense. Multiple young guys who come up together as stars and basically take over the team, ala the Cubs. His value is at it's peak, is only going to go down unless he's the next Beltre, and if he's signed he will represent 1 of 3 mid 30s players with monster deals on the team, which is exactly what doomed every other team like that in recent memory before they fell off the rails and ended up having to go through multi-year bottom dwelling suckage, with the exception of Boston and NY who had the foresight to get out before the crash, but they also have financial freedoms the Jays don't have (rightly or wrongly, thats just how it is). Thing is... I also get the argument to retain him... he's a frigging beast when he's on the field and the fact that he's there helps Rogers sell the team to all the casuals, which is who they need to convince to watch them on TV and buy tickets. It's a delicate balancing act that Shatkins has to navigate this upcoming offseason.
  8. Dem rbiz R speshul.... Negative value in every aspect of the game this season. Yup, career year
  9. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/is-there-hope-for-brett-lawrie/
  10. Lawrie couldn't make the adjustments that he needed to make after the pitchers adjusted to him. That's what separates the guys who are good enough to make if to MLB, from those that are good enough to stay
  11. True, but it's also not insurmountable. People tend to forget that there's incredible amounts of luck(both bad and good), sequencing(both bad and good) and random s*** that happens every season. Key injuries, players emerging out of nowhere... As long as you have a solid core in place and under control and don't put yourself in a position that you need a complete top to bottom overhaul, your team is likely in the cusp of at least the wildcard conversation. Add in some well thought out additions and not get injury f***ed... this team is not that far out.
  12. There's a thread for this already
  13. Still a long way from the record, but yeah, seeing 60 again would be pretty cool
  14. Whats GS at? Can't imagine it's anything other than even or worse
  15. Travis Hafner beasted that year too.
  16. Not sure how Sizemore didn't win that year. Not enough RBI I guess....Crazy s***
  17. Maybe not, but having Tulo and Martin already on the books really limits what you can do, plus you can pretty much guarantee JD will only get 1 chance at free agency and won't be letting it go by without shopping around.
  18. And Jesus Christ... I mean Donaldson just hit another one. That ball was crushed
  19. Jays will need probably 2 additional pitchers at Least as good as, if not better than Stroman if they want to contend. And that's not a knock on Stroman, just a fact of life in baseball these days. A 4 WAR ace just isn't good enough. If Sanchez can be healthy, maybe he's one of them, but any thoughts of contention you just need that guy that's in the 6+ WAR area
  20. Doubt he would even make the roster even if they made it that far

I don't get the big deal either. First off, Trump, despite being a f***ing moron, has the same rights to free expression that everyone else does. If he wants to say that players should be fired for kneeling... big f***ing deal. The same amendment that the protesters point to to support their protest, is the same amendment that Trump uses on a minute by minute basis. Sure, what he says 99% of the time is stupid, not thought out, simplistic and moronic and he should definitely be spending his time trying to figure out what his job as President should actually entail, but this outrage is just getting boring.
  22. Sure, until the Yankees/Dodgers world series when every dinosaur on the planet will resurrect every s***** baseball cliche for months and proclaim it a throwback to the good old days.
  23. I think it's neither good nor bad, it's just baseball. Without a balanced schedule, this can and will happen from time to time.
  24. I'm not sure how prevalent it is in the lower minors to have 8 guys share an apartment, but even 1 instance of this is pathetic. These are still people that you employ and they're being treated like garbage
