  1. I would actually, maybe as like a 4 OF set against a really true flyball hitter. Why not? He's already a circus act, we may as well get some laughs out of it. As for a different question of yours about why teams wait until the deadline.... most teams always go up to the draft with what they have, to give themselves a true evaluation of what they already have internally. Then the resources they have are heavily put towards the draft and then the signing period which takes you into early July. Huge focus is put on the draft. Then the attention turns to trades. Some teams will have talked about certain players already over the winter meetings and spring training which will give them a leg up in trade talks (probably the Seattle/Tampa scenario), and some teams you just know are always open for business to get rid of money (Tampa).
  2. Players of the Day: Chavez Young, Norberto Obeso, Gunnar Heidt, Roemon Fields, Tim Lopes Honourable Mentions: Cullen Large, Jon Harris, Bo Bichette, Jonathan Davis, Cavan Biggio,
  3. Important parts below: “You can make the case to put him in the major leagues right and he will likely will make your team better,” Atkins said. “There’s also a case to be made for what’s absolutely best for him to be a 20-year All-Star and a Hall of Famer and to be the best possible player he can be.” He also explains that with Josh Donaldson playing third base, the Blue Jays would rather see Guerrero continue to develop in double-A rather than calling him up to potentially DH or play another position. At this point there has been no set timetable for Guerrero Jr.’s promotion, but Atkins knows that the teenager cannot stay at double-A in the long run. “The biggest factor is him realizing his potential and the best place to do that right now is in New Hampshire but that won’t be forever and it won’t be for long, he’s dominating at a rate that suggests that he needs to be considered for triple-A.”
  4. Yup, keep talking. You're the one that doesn't know what he's talkng about, attacked me, and and tried to come off like a hero. Your schtick is tired kid. Get a new gimmick
  5. I know you like to think you're a genius... but baling wire is a thing, and has nothing to do with straw bales. You dipshit Or Maybe i'll just Write a sentence with Randomly capitalized Words!!! and puncuation!!!! that has Nothing to do with anything!! lol maybe Then you'll understand!!!
  6. Pretty much the whole comment section on that article is providing a perfect example of my earlier post. When it's a child molestation issues, there's 0 forgiveness available, no matter what the real facts of the scenario are. There's just a deep, deep belief in nearly every human being that crimes against kids are unforgivable and the person responsible has no future value to society. Any attempted argument to the contrary is met with immediate vitriol and the person doing so is immediately labelled as a defender of child molestation - which is no place you want to be.
  7. Dennis Santana was called up by the Dodgers and was available out of then pen last night, and is now listed as the probable starter for Sunday, if he's not needed out the pen before then.
  8. Anything even resembling sniffing the majors for Pentecost is a bonus at this point. Dude's body is being held together by duct tape and baling wire.
  9. That's what I mean about not putting any stock into what managers say. They're always gonna back their players regardless. The Musgrove slide.... here's the 4 parameters of a clean slide: 1. Begins his slide (i.e., makes contact with the ground) before reaching the base - check 2. is able and attempts to reach the base with his hand or foot; check 3. is able and attempts to remain on the base (except home plate) after completion of the slide; check 4. slides within reach of the base without changing his pathway for the purpose of initiating contact with a fielder. check I could see some debate on point 3, as it could be seen that he didn't really attempt to stay on 2b and was only able to do so because he made contact with Baez. His hand was dragging behind him but if he had not made contact with Baez, i wonder how far past he would have went.
  10. PLayers of the Day: Maximo Castillo, Conor Panas, Jason Leblebijian, Lourdes Gurriel Jr, Tim Lopes, Anthony Alford Honourable mentions: Ryan Noda (he actually hit a HR!), Ryan Hissey
  11. It's hard for a manager in that position... I don't don't put too much stock in it because had the situation been reversed, each manager would likely be saying the opposite of what they said this time. Irrespective of that, it's debatable about whether that type of play is dirty, or whether the rule change should have been made in teh first place, but what isn't arguable is that slide was absolutely against the rules as they are written now. He clearly changed the direction of his running path in order to make contact with the catcher and took him out. Nobody can watch that video and come to a different conclusion without being willfully ignorant.
  12. Agree with your overall point, except the part about BIchette. If a .746 OPS over a month long period as a 20 year old in AA is struggling, I wish we had more struggling prospects.
  13. gibbers is barely around now, but i think here he posts as "georgiapeach" or something close to that. njh has changed his name so many times I never know anymore
  14. That's my point. If he's 28, that says far more about the player than the org.
  15. Sure, but talking about making bets you know the other person won't or can't accept isn't really attempting to make a bet. Like, hypothetically if i said to you, "lets make a bet about VLad Jr and his OPS for the minor league season" and you said "ok, i'll bet you that Vlad Jr OPS would be under .900 cumulatively in the minors for this year, with a minimum 400 PA threshold or something, but only for 10,000"... there's no way I could ever take it regardless of what I think the odds might be. So that's not an honest attempt at securing a bet even though I offered to make you a bet.
  16. It would invalidate the bet technically, if Teoscar got demoted on May 31, because then he would not be in the majors at the end of May. Tercet is correct there. However, you don't see roster moves made on off days as a general rule. There's no reason to do so.
  17. I think if a 19 year old in AA or even AAA leads the minor leagues in home runs, it says something grossly negative about the organization keeping him there.
  18. This. If something falls into their lap like the Seattle/Tampa deal ... they would do it. And chances are Colome was probably talked about at the winter meetings by the GMs and just tweaked whatever they were talking about a bit to get it done. I highly doubt it was Seattle calling all the teams trying to figure out who might be available to help as a setup man in the pen as if they were desperately searching high and low for an arm since the season started.
  19. Yup. You can't walk your way out of Cuba.
  20. None that I am aware of, but it's hard to get a read on anyone down there. Basically any international signee from the last 2 years will be there if they haven't been moved stateside yet. Pardinho is stateside already, but the other 4 from the top 50 ranked international prospects from the 2017 signing period are: shortstop Miguel Hiraldo (No. 22 - DR), right-hander Alejandro Melean (No. 32 - Venezuela), shortstop Leonardo Jimenez (No. 36 - Panama) and outfielder Alberto Rodriguez (No. 38-DR). The following non-ranked prospects were all signed out of Venezuela: SS, Jose Rivas C, Geyber Jimenez OF, Jhon Solarte RHP, Ronald Govea RHP, Alexis Carmona RHP, Williams Morerno LHP, Erick Teran RHP, Miguel Olivo RHP, Luis Pena
  21. Honestly it looks like Danny Jansen is the best option back there, but I don't think they can justify taking Martin out and starting Maile and only playing Jansen a few days per week as a backup, nor could they really justify starting Jansen and using Martin as a backup. The roster is kinda train-wrecked right now with under-performing high-paid guys.
  22. Players of the day: Chavez Young, Kevin Vicuna, Josh DeGraaf, Sean Reid-Foley, Bo Bichette, Gunnar Heidt, Harold Ramirez, Andrew Guillotte, Lourdes Gurriel jr, Jason Leblebijian Honourable Mentions: Cullen Large, Maverik Buffo, Eduard Pinto, Nash Knight, Riley Adams, Max Pentecost, Juan Kelly, Anthony Alford,
  23. Kevin Smith was moved up to Dunedin and debuted tonight. 1/4 with 2 walks, 2 Ks Played ss since Warmoth is in the DL. Hope he stays up there when Warmoth is back
  24. Blair probably wants Pillar in his 2 hole. There's no reason to want a career below average bat getting more PAs
  25. Yup. Bust. Swings for the fences too much
