  1. I just want to see the kid get innings under his belt. He's probably on some arbitrary pitch count...
  2. "You need to learn, so during the spring we do Analytics for Dummies. That’s what we call it. We take our most veteran baseball people, our on-the-field lifers, and bring them upstairs to go over every analytic there is and find the [equivalent of a] .300 batting average in every one of them." So Buck. You're talking analytics and then use the parallel of the must un-analytic thing, and probably most old school thing for hitters..... batting average. Sounds like he should stay after class.
  3. So the chance to throw 100 is a mid rotation upside these days?
  4. I know. Wasn't speaking about Happ specifically, just a general comment on why you try to get more from a division rival if you are trading an asset with multiple year of control.
  5. First.... Pujols and Cabrera are 50 now, and their 20's were actually mostly their 30's. By your same logic, Mike Trout should be a derailed player by now after 3 injuries to his wrist, thumb, and hamstring. 3 separate injuries over the past 3 seasons - that decline is gonna happen any day now. Juan Soto was injured for most of last season in the minors. As were any number of other top prospects who still go on to do well. As many examples you can find of injuries derailing a top prospects career, there's probably an equal number who go on to succeed anyways. Point is.... 1 f***ing injury means jack s***.
  6. I've had this happen. One leg gets stuck in the pant leg, slight twist and gravity takes over. It's not pretty
  7. Of course, but because you're gonna be playing them next year with guys you traded to them(assuming it's not rentals being dealt), you want to squeeze something extra out of them, because you're making them better too
  8. You're kinda mixing up prospect talk. B guys in the Yankees org are still gonna be B guys in any other org. Where they rank in a top 10 list doesn't matter
  9. PLayers of the Day: Joshua Palafios, Gabriel Moreno Honourable Mentions: Jordan Groshans, Leonardo Jimenez, Adrian Hernandez, Rainer Nunez, Josh Winckowski, Christopher Bec, Kacy Clemens, Rodrigo Orozco, Eduard Pinto
  10. That's hurtful Spanky... after all I've done for you
  11. So... sounds to me like you're switching teams in order to be safer at home in case of a fire. Pretty sound logic actually. I know my 5'6" 120 pound wife has zero chance of helping me in an emergency. Maybe this heterosexuality isn't all is cracked up to be
  12. Same place he played before???
  13. Steve Pearce 2-2 with a walk in his 2nd rehab game. Now 3-5 with 2 walks over his first 2 rehab appearances. He can't get back soon enough.
  14. Players of the day: Mc Gregory Contreras, Nick Podkul, Ryan Noda, Jon Harris, Juan Kelly, Andrew Guillotte, Honourable Mentions: Tanner Kirwer, Christopher Bec, Reilly Johnson, Reggie Pruitt, Yeltsin Gudino, Harold Ramirez, Jonathan Davis, Dwight Smith Jr
  15. Backed the right pitchers. ... But entire offense combined for less than 25 points.
  16. It's gonna be on the MLB PA to make anything happen. Owners spending more money is never gonna be a priority for any of them.
  17. Lol, yup. Especially since going over their pool by more than allowed would result in penalties they certainly don't want to incur.
  18. I don't think they'll fire him as a scapegoat after an extension, though other guys like Pete Walker or the hitting coach could likely be told to they're gonna fall on their sword. I dunno, at this point its fairly clear that everything that could go wrong has gone wrong with regard to team health ... so putting any of it on any of the coaching staff would just be pointless IMO, unless they're really worried about optics to the casual fans, which they shouldn't be worried about at all.
  19. I think they'd have done that by now if they wanted to.
  20. I'm not sure the plural or singular really moves the needle one way or the other.
  21. I root against casual fans being happy for stupid reasons. If they're happy for a good reason... yay!
  22. I doubt the Yankees and Jays match up on any trades. They'd have to overpay for the whole in division thing and that would push them out of anything serious. Its more likely Atlanta comes calling for Josh Donaldson(assuming health) unless they feel Riley is the answer (which is pretty possible), at which point you ask for the sun, moon and stars and settle for whatever heavenly body they agree to. Riley, Pache and an arm like Fried isn't a ludicrous ask IMO, though I'd likely ask for Anderson over Fried... and end up settling on Fried.
  23. Seems like a great sober driving initiative.
