  1. Not sure anyone will ever figure out what is with Pillar when he steps in the box. Some days he swings at exactly what he wants and hits well...... other days he's waving at butterflies in the opposite batter's box
  2. I'm glad you've actually embraced this completely ridiculous system of posting. It was too hard taking you seriously before but now I can just laugh. Good work.
  3. I know, but... still a player would rather not have it hanging over him at all.
  4. I bet he hopes to be traded, not just for the fact that he might go to a contender, but then he can't be qualified and wont have that hanging over his FA efforts.
  5. Well, to be honest, no player is fully developed in the minors. The final stage of development is always done at the big league level. September call-ups were/are so popular with prospects because for the most part, the playoff picture is pretty much secured and so many of the kids being called up are being put into situations with 0 pressure on non-playoffs teams. Another thing that also impacts September callups is the player's contract status. Are they on the 40 man roster already? Do they need to be added to protect from Rule 5 in the offseason anyway so why not just bring em up early and give them a taste? Do they just need some extra arms and don't care if they have to DFA them in the offseason? I think it's pretty rare that a September call-up for a non-playoff team would be a guy that isn't on the 40 man, doesn't need to be added to the 40 man in the offseason and is a top level prospect. Vlad would fall into that category and I honestly doubt we see him this year at all. Different story if a team is in the playoff hunt, it's past the non-waiver deadline and you get hit with an injury that you need to fill with your best option.
  6. Tailing though..... tailing
  7. Maverik Buffo, RHP, Toronto Blue Jays (Profile) Level: Hi-A Age: 22 Org Rank: NR FV: 30 Line: 8 IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 0 R, 5 K Notes Buffo, who has a tailing upper-80s fastball and average slider, is probably an upper-level depth arm. He throws strikes and has great makeup, so he’s nice to have in an organization. Sometimes those guys shove and make the Daily Notes, and sometimes they’re also named Maverik Buffo
  8. Can't believe Pillar is still hitting 6th. ...
  9. That's it. I'm contacting my local MP to complain about the need for more education dollars
  10. I'm no lawyer, but i'm pretty sure he's say that even if it was going as horribly as possible. Never heard of a peace bond before, but seems like if that's the route they go, that's good news for Osuna. Per wikipedia: In Canadian law, a peace bond is an order from a criminal court that requires a person to keep the peace and be on good behaviour for a period of time. This essentially means that the person who signs a peace bond must not be charged with any additional criminal offences during its duration. Peace bonds often have other conditions as well, such as not having any weapons or staying away from a particular person or place. Peace bonds are similar to a civil court restraining order, and are also based on the lesser burden of proof of civil law. A peace bond can be issued by a criminal court judge or a Justice of the Peace. A peace bond is usually issued when the Crown Prosecutor is convinced that a strong case does not exist against the accused. A person does not plead guilty when they enter into a peace bond. Thus, there is no finding of guilt or conviction registered if a person agrees to sign a peace bond. One of the reasons why a person may agree to enter into a peace bond is to avoid a criminal trial, and ultimately the possibility of being convicted in a court of law of the offence for which they were charged. Being convicted in a court of law would entail receiving a criminal record. The peace bond itself is usually set for twelve months. If a peace bond is signed, then the charges are withdrawn, and the prosecution of those charges is considered to be complete, and those same charges can never be re-instated. However, if one or more of the conditions of a peace bond are broken, either by not obeying one of the conditions, or by getting charged with a subsequent criminal offence within the 12-month period of time in which it was signed, there could be very serious repercussions, as this may result in the person being charged with a separate criminal offence of "breach of recognizance" or "disobeying a court order". The defendant may also be required to forfeit the entire cash surety that they pledged to pay to the court (usually $500 or $1000) when they entered into the peace bond.[5] Breaching any condition of a peace bond is considered a criminal offence. Moreover, as of July 19, 2015, a conviction for breaching a condition of a peace bond carries a maximum sentence of up to four years imprisonment.
  11. Yeah. It's hard to think hat other teams might be offering, depends alot on whether they see Happ as a guy they will be using in the playoffs or not I think. Also probably greatly depends on what the market for DeGrom shapes up to given he's the best arm available and Happ isn't near his level.
  12. Maverik Buffo up to Dunedin from Lansing had a solid debut
  13. Looks like he's up to the 80 pitch mark. Maybe 90 next time out? He's gone from 65 to 45(assuming there was a weather delay there) to 70 to 80....
  14. That's *shudders* pally boy. Unless you were actually referring to window coverings or camera aperatures.
  15. Correct, they then dealt Happ to the Astros when the Phillies got Oswalt (Houston also got Jonathan Villar and Anthony Gose in that trade and flipped Gose to the Jays for Brett Wallace a few minutes later). Then Happ was traded from Houston to the Jays down the road along with 2 relievers for a 7 man return package that had Joe Musgrove in it.
  16. Well, the fact that the Nats are under performing, he's gonna be the target for the blame. And the vast majority of fans will actually still look at average exclusively as their barometer.
  17. There's lots of factors. I had no problem with the call either given the scenario. There's no way they were gonna walk Gardner to get further down the lineup with more men on base.
  18. Sac bunts working is the exception, not the rule.
  19. Pretty sure guys that have been 2b exclusively since college don't translate well to 3b. I doubt he has the arm for it
  20. I absolutely hate watching Martin at the plate... looks like he's trying to hit everything 500 feet, and he's late on anything hard
  21. Article on Pearson. No real timetable on his return yet. https://www.milb.com/dunedin/news/family-faith-teammates-helping-pearson-persevere-through-injury/c-284503262
  22. Better than pre-injury Travis or post-injury Travis? There's quite a difference
