  1. I was looking at Varsho and PCA on savant today...its pretty eerie how similar their hitting profiles are. PCA blows him away on baserunning and defense but that's largely a playing time thing...
  2. So can Clement ... and he wouldnt be primarily starting either. Either way, whomever goes down will be right back up when the rosters expand.
  3. Straight from the current CBA: Before any Player that has suffered a concussion is permitted to return to play in any game, regardless of whether the Player was previously placed on an IL for such injury, the Club must submit a “Return to Play” form and the supporting certifications and doc ument referenced below, to MLB’s Medical Director and the Play ers Association, and the Players Association must confirm receipt in writing (which it will do promptly). The Return to Play Form, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit D, must contain the following certifications by the Club Physician and the ATC: (i) all symptoms have resolved; (check) (ii) ImPACT testing has returned to range of baseline; (must have or he wouldnt have been allowed to start baseball activities) (iii) the Player experienced no symptoms with exertion and baseball-related activities; (check - according to what the Jays are saying) (iv) the SCAT5 is within normal limits; and (also check or the Jays wouldnt have submitted a clearance request) (v) the Club Physician has cleared the Player to participate in baseball activities. (clearly a check) The Return to Play form must also be accompanied by the documentation supporting these cer tifications, including, but not limited to, copies of all ImPACT and SCAT5 tests (including the SCAT5 from the time of injury), the current neurocognitive test score, the baseline neurocognitive test scores, and any reports by the Club Physician and the ATC. If the Medical Director or the MLBPA expert questions whether the Player should be returned to play, they shall consult with each other as well as one of the outside experts on the Committee prior to making a decision. In addition, the Medical Director may direct the Club to have the Player evaluated by an MLB-approved MTBI specialist in the Club’s home city before the Player is permitted to return to play. In the event the Medical Director and the MLBPA expert are unable to agree on the Player’s return to play, they shall refer the matter to an independent expert selected by the Parties, who will determine in his sole discretion whether the Player should return to play. Gonna go out on a limb and guess that's why Springer is back in Toronto. Also for reference: ImPACT testing is a crucial component of concussion management protocols, particularly in sports and educational settings. It helps in the early diagnosis and management of concussions by providing a standardized assessment of cognitive function. The test is administered online and typically takes about 25-30 minutes to complete. It includes various tasks designed to assess cognitive abilities that can be impacted by a concussion, such as visual and verbal memory, reaction time, and processing speed.
  4. I would guess he has to pass his baseline neurocognitive tests every player takes in spring training. Not sure if that comes before hitting, running or fielding, or only before a rehab assignment can start.
  5. Oh yeah, forgot about that. Lukes probably doesnt need a platoon partner, but yes, Loperfido more than likely would.
  6. And Caminero's age 17 #'s from the DSL... just for comparison porpoises. and Sanchez: Story checks out...
  7. Simple guess on playing time would be Schneider basically being reduced to a pinch hitter, with the occasional 2B appearance when Gimenez needs a day off. Clement's role will diminish to being 3b platoon and occasional start at SS if the want Bo at DH, but getting into most games off the bench either way
  8. Buddy DFA'd... Gimenez active. This is what you get for going 0-fer in Denver.
  9. Anyone not even willing to listen to proposals on top prospects is doing their team a disservice.
  10. Astros closer Josh Hader was unavailable to pitch last night, and manager Joe Espada revealed after the game that the left-hander was nursing some “discomfort” in his shoulder. Houston is now awaiting imaging results and will presumably provide an update later today.
  11. Uh oh... hype train is starting up Pontes says Sanchez's numbers and data are comparable to when Junior Caminero was in the DSL.
  12. There would be a difference though if Ohtani knew of the gambling and gave him the money to do so, or... if the guy just took Ohtani's money, gambled, then felt like s*** and told him about it after, and they tried to help out and "cover it up" so to speak. Hard to say really. It could be something as stupid as Ohtani giving the guy money, he gambled it without Ohtani's knowledge, felt like s*** about it and only told Ohtani later. That's possible. So is the other side where they were both sitting there at the computer betting on the WNBA. We don't know. Critical thinking also requires that once we arrive at a conclusion, we question that conclusion with other possibilities.
  13. If nothing else happens in this thread. please let it be known I may be the first human being to actually get Grant to say the words "You are correct, I was wrong."
  14. That's fine. Knowing his interpreter was gambling ... and him gambling himself are two widely different things. It's far more plausible that the situation is exactly what the interpreter said first, that he was gambling on non-baseball stuff, sucked at it, he told Ohtani, and Ohtani tried to help the guy out by paying it off. That's probably far closer to the truth than anything that came out days later after the spin machines kicked in. So, if that's closer to the truth, how is Ohtani the bad guy?? Stupid... yes. Some evil mastermind who chucked his buddy in jail to cover his own gambling problems..? Unlikely. (but still within the realm of possibility)
  15. He's probably on Epstein's list.
  16. Literally nowhere in that article says his spokesman or the Dodgers said Ohtani was gambling ... as you asserted in your first post above ... "the first scandal where his spokesperson and the Dodgers both stated that Ohtani himself was gambling" ....and have now changed to "Ohtani was aware of the gambling" Maybe that was a typo in the first place? Or did the goalposts just move?
  17. Of course people would have suspicions. But, it's also entirely possible the interpreter did everything himself and Ohtani was just way too trusting. People tend to expect others to act exactly as they would act in similar situations. Most people I've talked to in person about the Ohtani thing don't even believe he would give his interpreter access to his bank accounts, because ... they would never give anyone access to theirs so therefore he must be guilty. But, they also have no idea what it's like to be a guy like Ohtani, with more money than a "normal" person can even fathom, having it come from dozens of sources, going out to dozens more, and have no idea of the relationship Ohtani and his interpreter had. Some people are incredibly trusting. Point is, suspicions are just suspcions. People as a whole need to worry less about suspicions, and more about facts.
  18. And you do realize that most people that live on the internet love to latch onto allegations and just believe them 100% without actually reading anything other than headlines... not to mention the bots that are just used to create fake comments on everything. I'm sure there are people that hate Ohtani. I acknowledge the possibility that he did what he was accused of. I'm just not gonna choose to hate based on allegations. But you forgot Trevor Bauer. He's probably the most hated guy right now. There's a guy who I can completely understand people hating, even though legally he may not have done anything wrong.
  19. Find me the sources where the Dodgers and Ohtani's spokesperson said Ohtani was gambling.
  20. I just wonder how they set the bar at 45 degrees. My guess would be they took a sh*tload of video where checkswings happened, did some measurements on the majority of them that were called swings based on the umps feel and then roughly averaged where all those bats were... and came up with a number? Seems like 45 degrees is a bit steep though, like... i can't look at that check by Ohtani and not feel like he went.
  21. It's gotta truly suck to be famous for those reasons. Of course there's enough upside to it also but... It's entirely possible to donate a ton of money, get a great camp set up, help tons of kids every year... and have nearly nothing to do with anything with a camp other than your name being on it and your money being donated, and one bad hire of a creep and suddenly your name is being dragged through the mud.
  22. Had to look him up as I had almost forgot he existed.. his power stroke early on had really started to show up. 7 HR in 85 PA.. nearly doubling his entire minor league HR totals over the course of a month.
