Sure yeah about my plate approach, the last few years I've really been focusng on making more contact and slapping more singles. Basically just slowing my swing down and keeping it under control. Popkins: ...... Springer: I know the results haven't really been there yet but I really trust the process and truly believe any day now we're gonna see a turnaround. Popkins: the f*** is wrong with you? You can hit 30+ HRs this year if you just lock in and look to do damage. Your goal should be at least 1 of your best swings in every PA. Slow down your swing? What asshat told you to do that? Springer: Geeeeyaremo. Popkins: Well he's fired. Forget that garbage and go put the ball over the wall. Springer: yes sir.

    139 games played out of 143...leads the team in PA by about 32 over Vlad. Before his injury plagued '23 and '24, played 159 in both '21 and '22 Yeah, f*** Bo. All he ever does is whine and take days off

    Lukes 2025 vs LHP: 97 wRC+ not the worst call to start him. Let's just hope the Jays can make him work and get him out early

    Never said expected Berrios to bounce back. You really need to work on actually reading what people write so you dont strawman the s*** out of your posts. "One hopes they would sign a top rotation option, Gausman to 2, Berrios has a bounceback season as the 3..." is what I wrote. Literally used the word hope...not expect. It would be ideal if he did, for 3 possible reasons; 1, it helps the team win in 2026, 2, so he possibly opts out and they get out from under the remainder of the deal, or 3, if the bounceback is real and there's noticeable changes and improvements in stuff... maybe the remainder of the deal if he doesnt opt out isnt as s*****. That last though is truly pie in the sky. There's no way going into 2026 they want to be paying Bassitt to be a 5 if they project Berrios as a 4/5 which they probably should. Just get to work on trying to fix a portion of the decline and hope to hell some variation of the above 3 scenarios happens, none of which are likely. And yes Vlad is the MVP of the Jays, Springer is pretty inarguably their best hitter in 2026. Best hitter doesn't always instantly mean most valuable.

    Also a possibility. I believe Lauer is out of options thiugh, so that complicates things a bit, thiugh he coukd still have a pen role. Yeah, Bieber plus Woodruff, or any combo of two top end starters could be possible. Alot depends on the Bo situation too. If hes not back that gives them more money to work with on the pitching side...but that does leave a gap in the offense without question. His D and baserunning can be replaced internally but nothing internal replaces his bat

    Nah, Berrios in 2026 already fills the back-end innings eater role, no need to pay for another one in FA when the one they're paying for already is more expensive. One hopes they would sign a top rotation option, Gausman to 2, Berrios has a bounceback season as the 3 and all the internal options plus depth FA minor league deals fight over the last spots. Manoah, Yesavage, Francis, Lauer, Estrada, plus whatever sh*t they pick up and try to throw against the wall. The rest of the minor league options are still either too far away, not ready, or just arent good enough. Bloss wont be ready to start the season but he'll probably factor in by July

    Bassitt has lost the velo on his fastball that made every other pitch play up. He can still get by as a backend starter due to the sheer number of pitches he has and keep guys a little off balance...but his bad days are gonna be more often than the good at this point.

    I do also, to a point. The thing is, hitters from 1-9 now are far better at doing damage on balls in play so "pitching to contact" isnt as valid a strategy as it used to be. Pitchers were careful with a teams top 3-5 guys but the bottom 3 or 4 were just...fastball down the middle and watch them ground out to the IF for the most part. Saved a lot of pitches that way

    Updated Jays fWAR ranking after last nights game Kirk 4.2 Vlad 4.1 Springer 4 Bichette 3.7 Also fun... Varsho, Heineman and Straw combined have 622 PA, which is 2 less PA than Bo on the season... combined fWAR of 6

    Assuming he can throw strikes with those pitches first. He didnt fare well in that exact scenario against Cinci, walking that lefty and having to face 2 RHB after.

    I unequivocally believe Vlad is the most valuable member of the Jays - when all on-field and off-field things are considered, but... yeah as far as on-field only, Springer has kinda separated himself from the pack, especially over the past month. The top 4 are Kirk, Springer, Vlad and Bo... Kirk and Springer already above 4 fWAR and have an outside chance at 5, Vlad and Bo could both end up above 4.
