    Back then, different radar guns were calibrated to take measurements at different locations. Some took them at release, some took them nearer to the plate... some were in between. There really wasn't a "standard"

    Roberto Clemente award nominee for the Jays: José Berríos Berríos’ humanitarian efforts are inspired by Clemente, a fellow Puerto Rican who was the pitcher’s childhood hero. Berríos launched his first charitable initiative, La Makina Foundation, in 2022. It supports youth in under-resourced communities in Puerto Rico and helps them reach their goals through baseball. Two years later, Berríos expanded that initiative to his new home country of Canada and called it El Dream. To date, El Dream and La Makina have raised more than $4.75 million through fundraising efforts, fan donations and 50/50 raffle sales.

    Gausman stuff+ on his 4 seamer - career 98, location 108 splitter... 105/104 slider... 95/93 Overall career stuff 101/105 Yesavage is starting from a pretty good place with those numbers. 1 start caveat of course but that seems to track with his minor league numbers

    the two injuries and situations aren't created equally though. we know Bo had major issues with his calf, doesn't mean Tucker's will be the same. Hairline fractures heal. Bo's current knee issue (2nd opinion not having yet been released) could be a situation requiring offseason surgery if he plays through it and it gets worse, depending on the grade of the sprain. That's certainly a bigger concern to a guy who's mobility is already pretty crappy for a MIF Edit: now that second opinion is minor, I think the bigger concern on Bo is his lack of defense, but I don't think there's a long term injury concern on Tucker at all. I doubt either injury impact their FA suitors overly much.

    Tucker was playing through a hairline hand fracture at the time. Definitely a contributing factor. Most recently .... a dreaded strained left calf.

    RIP to Robert Redford - aka The Natural. I know not technically related to "Around Baseball" , but i think that movie being such an icon in the baseball movie genre makes it relevant here.

    This is correct. All the anecdotal stuff people say about "they took the readings at home plate in the 70s and 80's" is just stories and misunderstandings of where the radar was placed, which was behind home plate, but pointed nearly directly at the mound. Velo drops by about 9 or 10% (varies due to environmental factors) from when it leaves the pitchers hand to when it crosses the plate, so if Nolan Ryan in the 70s or 80s had a velo of 100+ when it crossed the plate, the velo out of hand would have been 110mph+. That's just not realistic.

    Use the Bo money on Tucker? Or...SP like Woodruff, Bieber etc. Wouldn't need as long of a term obviously but can probably get SP plus something else for the money Bo was gonna be asking for (probably not getting..but asking)

    Coukd they do with Bloss what they did with Pina? Call him up and stick him on the 60-day IL to free up the 40 man spot, then option someone like Fisher again? Or is a strait DFA of Borucki more likely/easier

    Imagine the Yankess watching the scoreboard in their game... when it went up as 4-2 baltimore in the bottom of the ninth.... haha yes! finally we might make up a game! then ticked to 4-3. some minor puckering probably happened. then ticked to 4-4. (seriously wtf... again??) then ticked to 5-4 .. Michael Kay has an aneurysm and doesnt speak for 10 minutes while the game goes on, Aaron Boone kills Volpe.

    Just dropping some info... Carrapazza is shockingly an above average ump this year in balls/strike calling. 94.29% vs 93.15 expected accuracy. Dogshit today so far though

    They offered Burnes a ton of money... he turned them down and then they just... didn't even try to get anyone else with it. Made no sense. What good is having the money if you don't spend it right?

    If you're not saying its the case why would you say "consider the FACT that she wasn't super deserving...." That is not a fact, it's a possibility that you would then be required to show numbers to backup your supposition. Words are kinda important. Fact: I have no idea if she was the most deserving or not. Fact: neither do you or anyone else on this board. Fact: even questioning if she is qualified because she's a woman is the definition of sexist. Fact: the worst umpire in todays game regarding accuracy in calling balls and strikes (larger sample than 3 games needed of course) is more accurate than virtually every umpire calling balls and strikes in 2015.

    From a pure FA standpoint... yeah, between him and Springer. Clement on a minor league deal is pretty good too though.

    Not only that, but players absorb information differently. Some like to think about it analytically, some like to grip it and rip it. Figuring out how to get the point across in a way each individual player understands in their own way is essential. Any type of manager, leader, coach, instructor etc in any walk of life should be capable of communicating information differently depending on who is listening.

    and that's how it should be. LIke... Clement and Schneider are two very different hitters. Schneider is never gonna have Clement's contact and Clement is never gonna have Schneider's power. So, the advice and coaching process needs to be different, even if the end goal is the same which is to maximize run scoring based on their skillsets.

    I doubt a 1 of 1 Superfractor with auto was ever sold for $300 to anyone. A card of even a star player of that type steals at like 1000$ minimum right out of the pack let alone one thats been graded a PSA 10. Granted she might hmgot the grading done...but im skeptical to that $300 number
