  1. Looks like that killer instinct they've been missing the last few years is starting to take hold.
  2. I think it's only unreasonable now because FOs have become wiser about paying athletes into their mid and late 30s. 10/350 is probably where he starts though. Then it will just be a matter of teams trying to 1 up each other with either higher AAV, deferred money, extra years or whatever. Ditto Machado. Top tier FAs in their physical prime that still project to provide massive value for 7+ years aren't as scary as signing a 33 yo Donaldson to a long term deal
  3. I think pitchers just accept the fact they will have TJS at some point, and just figure they may as well go balls out while healthy and try to get that dough
  4. Also took that 103 MPH pitch out for a HR.... Resume fapping
  5. Who are you and what have you done with our Dick?
  6. Just a follow up on this, Lieper was under contract through 2019 so his axe is definitely the result of the new manager wanting his own guy
  7. Pretty much all these guys are on 1 year deals if I'm not mistaken and It's pretty standard for a new manager to pick his own coaching staff. I also know he can't pilfer Rays coaches as part of the agreement they had so he'll definitely be shopping around
  8. Why would it sound anything but good?
  9. I don't think we need to Fister Porcello.
  10. If there's a single person that looks at Kawhi's takents and still misses Demar, they're watching the wrong sport.
  11. It's the go-to these days for people like her. Can't have a contrary opinion to a woman's if you're a man because that means you're talking down to them, being oppressive or some other bat s*** crazy crap.
  12. He was probably gonna pitch 2 innings anyways, what's 1 more out?
  13. They still have fans, shockingly. Preds vs Oilers to cap things off later.
  14. This is helluva Saturday night for sports GAME 7 Dodgers vs Brewers, Raps vs Wizards Riders vs Stampeders Leafs vs Blues Habs vs Senators All on right now. If heaven exists, this is what it would be for me. That, or a blow job from the wife while playing Call of Duty.
  15. Sound slide you want the calls right, as long as it's fast, and if that can't happen, then challenges shouldn't really be a thing. I'm kind of in the same boat. I don't think managers should be responsible for questioning whether the call is right or not. Use tech to get the calls right in the first place. But until then, the challenge system is the best they have so make it faster. I agree with other suggestions that there should be no consultation with a teams own video review, you either challenge in real time or don't based on what you, your players or your on field coaches see, and you get 10 seconds to throw that flag. Pitch clock for pitchers is absolutely essential too imo.
  16. Seems way to punishing or rewarding imo. It would greatly deter challenges which is not what should be fixed. The amount of challenges is fine, the length of time getting them done is the challenge. However, one point I forgot to touch in in the podcast was that I think the perception of challenges taking so long to get done is just a symptom of the pace of play in general. Speed up the pitchers and get rid of all the truly unneccesary downtime and then the 1 or 2 challenges per game wouldnt be seen as such a waste of time
  17. It's not hate, just .... unlike
  18. Has nothing to with bias, has to do with the stupid way that replays are handled. Checking to see if the call on the field is correct is stupid, because umps are stupid and make wrong calls all the time. Had it been called a HR on the field, the replay would also be inconclusive and it would have stood as a HR They should only look to verify 100% if the batter/runner is conclusively out. If they can't he's safe.
  19. That's the problem with 2 dimensional images, no depth. The side view they had from the game was completely obstructed by a security guard
  20. It's hard to say without a side angle shot, but that's how it looked to me too.
  21. Perhaps, but was the fan reaching into the field of play or was Betts over the fence into the crowd? That's a huuuuuge part of that ruling. If Betts' arm and glove were over the fence and into the crowd and the fans didn't reach into the field of play then the call was absolutely wrong. Second, there's no way Joe West can see whether that's the case from his angle, so he's just guessing. Had the call on the field been a home run, there's no way that call would have been overturned either
  22. Holy s***. That's a call that's gonna live on for a long time.
  23. I wish i'd never read it. It's just a massive pile of "old guys complain about why stuff isn't like it was 40 years ago" crap. Any article that uses Goose Gossage for quotes, unless it's purely for LOLs deserves to be ripped up. And then this gem.... "When you don't put the ball in play, you have no chance to get on base. Absolutely none, unless the catcher can't catch," Detroit manager Ron Gardenhire says. "The point of baseball is to get on base. I don't think that will ever change. But it's taking some knocks now." Guess he never heard of a walk. That's a major league manager folks. The only way to get on base is by getting a hit.
  24. Good job. 1 more and the Brewers can f*** off
  25. Some of those salaries are a joke. These guys should be in the multiple 7 figures minimum (like 2 million) with all the s*** they have to deal with, be aware of and handle on a daily basis. While they are not as key to actual wins as having great players, it's still an important role in the rg that deserves better pay than slightly above a player's league minimum. though you'll never see me clamoring for a 10 million dollar baseball manager unless revenues keep going way up.
