    He's just trying to silver lining a bad scenario. In almost no universes is a comp pick better than a known quantity. Yeah, it COULD be, but it's not the likely scenario. I'm glad he has the confidence in his drafting, but that's just hoping to make the best of a bad situation.

    I'll never say the Rays rotation is garbage, they just sprinkle faerie dust on whomever they acquire and they instantly become something nobody thought possible, then proceed to trade them for elite prospects. Someone in Tampa sold their soul... for real.

    Value of wins takes on a new meaning when you're on an upward trajectory. Adding 5 wins is pretty meaningless when you're a 65-70 win team, but adding 5 wins when you're an 87-ish win team is pretty darn valuable. And, no I'm not saying Berrios will add 5 wins this season, that's pretty much impossible given the season is more than half over, but the overall point remains true. Wins added to get above 87 wins are far more valuable than adding wins to get above 70.

    Probably but I think the ceiling on Biggio is higher because of his power potential, Madrigal barely hits doubles, he's a slappy singles guy.

    Damn, that give up seems expensive. I have to believe the Jays aren't pulling another Dickie trade here, but your top 2 prospects for 1.5 years of Berrios is kind of a head scratcher, unless an extension is announced. Right now, as of 2023 the only arms we have as starters are Ryu and Manoah. Can't count on Pearson at this point, though that could change. Manoah even could take a giant step back, or be hurt, you never know for sure. Who else is coming up the pipeline? Better hope all those arms they drafted this year get good. If I am in the boots of Atkins, my focus just shifted to getting extensions done on both Berrios and Ray. Ryu, Berrios, Ray as a top 3 through the end of 2023 just became really important IMO, and you hope that Manoah and Pearson round out your 5 while the rest develop.

    no kidding. Did a quick run down of the top AL teams by standing + the Jays. Columns are HR, Runs scored via HR, Total Runs, % of team runs scored via HR and overall Run diff. Toronto is highest, but it's not like it's in another universe. Never mind the completely obvious RH/Lh thing, the fact that’s Harper can hit any pitch 500 feet, whose GB rate gains RHP isn’t likely, that there was a base open to set up the double play with what would have been a right on right matchup with a guy who throws sinkers, Who has a 50% gb rate against a guy Who has a 50% gb rate and who DID hit a ground ball against him that very likely could have been two, or maybe only 1 at worst if the DP wasn’t turned. Yup, he’s been their best hitter over the past three weeks. f***ing idiot needs to be fired the millisecond this season is over and I almost hope the Jays lose every game for the rest of the season if it would guarantee his firing
