  1. Not to mention literally the wrong way to use literally in a sentence, like literally.
  2. It's a difficult question to answer. Any type of contract like that takes on enormous risk. However, I don't find any of those contracts to be entirely unpalatable for 1 main reason: in 10 years, is 35 million per year the going rate for superstars, or will it be even higher with increasing revenues? One thing that we know we can predict is that contracts #'s always increase over time, but the variable is... how much? Paying Tatis 35 million dollars per year 10 years from now may not be that big of a drain depending on where the $ per Win calculation is at that time - unless he's not playing at all due to catastrophic injury. That said, I wouldn't give Vlad that much. He's going to be a beast when he's young, but his fall-off-a-cliff value point is going to come much earlier due to his body type and the fact that he has virtually no defensive value already, let alone in 10 years.
  3. I’ve been away for quite a while, can’t recall who the savvy ones are and who the people are who still actually believe in batting average
  4. Eddie Rosario hit for the cycle today, and only saw 5 pitches. He hit an 0-1 double in the second, a first-pitch triple in the fifth, a first-pitch homer in the seventh and a first-pitch single in the ninth.
  5. What in the actual f*** kind of point is that?
  6. It certainly wouldn’t hurt. The fun part is though the Jays and the dome are a cash cow for Rogers even without massive in-person attendance for Jays games. Sure reduced attendance may impact the actual Blue Jays revenue, but all the additional revenue the dome and the Jays generate for their other brands is enormous.
  7. Always good to have proper context though
  8. It’s oddly great news that Springer went 0 for 2 in the 1st inning.
  9. It’s time like this I truly wonder what the players are thinking. Like …Jansen now coming up after watching 7 straight teammates get a hit….or Springer, having struck out and then watching 7 straight teammates get a hit. Does it even enter their mind?
  10. Gotta love seeing that. 1st pitch after a mound visit and you give up more runs lol
  11. Cole was always great though, but the pitching coaches in Pittsburgh insisted on pitching to contact and Cole was coached not to miss bats. It’s no coincidence he pretty much ditched the sinker in favour of his better pitched the millisecond he left the Pirates. Sure, the sticky stuff probably helped also, but he always had these types of results available to him, Pittsburgh just failed to utilize it
  12. That’s some terrible misses, and a lot of them.
  13. Currently the rules also allow an ump to overrule and make his own call of its clearly wrong. But trusting minor league camera angles for strike zone height is not usually a good idea
  14. Was thinking something similar except that it makes a big dent and just stays lodged in the wall. Ground rule double
  15. In reading up, I had completely forgot that had also been taking out that game against the Yankees with forearm soreness. Could explain his recent command issues.
  16. Yeah, but like a Darth Vader / Palpatine situation.
  17. Well yeah, if there’s anyone with a ton of experience being a hothead, it would be Machado. There’s entire videos dedicated to his douchebaggery.
  18. Ban yourself immediately. Until tomorrow. No more posting for you today.
  19. He's very new. Doesnt even have a pic on the MLB site and they only know his initials. He goes by T.B.D. Weird.
  20. Valera with 2 walks today. They're scared of that mighty stick I guess.
  21. This umps report card at the end of the game will be interesting.
  22. You know youre a bad ump when both the batter and pitcher have no idea what a strike is.
