    Precisely. If anything (especially for relievers) its more of a reason to get him up here the second he is ready, so he throws the majority of his healthy pitches for the big club before his next injury

    You can't teach clutch because it's not a repeatable skill. It's moreso about mindset - not panicking, having a short memory and not putting too much pressure on yourself. It's possible to learn it from experience. That, and it helps to have a manager that would actually use the pen properly that doesn't keep giving away runs late in games.

    Is there precedence for a pitcher like Hendriks... who 10 years ago averaged 91mph on his fastball, and is now averaging 98? Yeah, a move to the pen probably bumped it up a few, but even with the Jays out of the pen he only averaged 95. Whatever arm program he is on needs to find its way here.

    The upcoming offseason is going to be the most important one in the Shatkins tenure. There's clear needs, 2 guys having career years that are FAs that are begging for extensions. I get the need to try and find those hidden gems in the pen, but I think this teams needs to get past that and really sink some money into proven talents. They don;t all have to be elite arms of course, but we can;t see another season of ******** guys like Dolis and the parade of replacement level garbage behind him. yes, injuries to Merriweather, Phelps and the guy they wanted to be the closer really hurt, but every team has pen injuries every year. It needs to be better. Hell, Merriweather is still 4th on the team in reliever war and he only pitched 4.1 innings, Phelps is 3rd after pitching 10 innings. Kinda tells you how much the rest of the pen sucks. #1 and 2 are Romano and Mayza. Cimber has been pretty much the only solid addition. Also, not that it needs to be said, but Montoyo has to go - that would improve the pen by 2 or 3 wins alone.

    It's Ryu, everything is soft. This is just one of those games where the soft tosser isn't getting swings and misses on the borderline stuff, and everything in the zone is being massacred.

    Did you want to find a report that isn't 4 years old? Bichette's arm is definitely not a 40-50 at this point in time

    Might be thread worthy on it's own, but what would a Ray extension look like at this point? Dude is killing it this year, well beyond expectations and is definitely going to be looking to get PAID.

    Guessing if the game goes the way it's going it will be a position player throwing 7, 8 and 9.

    Nope, but some of those close ones go the other way and hitters aren't able to sit on the fat part of the plate. Not an excuse though, his fastball command has been garbage.
