  1. If he signs, it will hit 100 easily unless everyone is too busy rosterbating
  2. Sounds like he saying he’s never asked and will never ask to have his no trade waived, but wouldn’t necessarily say no if they asked him to waive it again?
  3. Yes, I’m sure all the players just gathered up and decided to like something purely to spite the fans and their experience.
  4. There's lots of ways to make a contract look good to Freeman also. Give him 6 years, front load it, then an opt out aftger the front loaded portion. Something like 6 years 180, but make the first 3 years ... 37 million (just picking a number) with an optout after 3 - leaving 3/69 left ...... or first 2 years 40 million each, leaving 4/100 left. If he's still raking, he likely opts out and the Jays then got the best remaining years out of him anyways.
  5. "The players want to do less work at the expense of the fan experience at a time when baseball desperately needs more fans." I don't think that has anything to do with it, nor is it "animosity" between owners and players. They agreed to do it in the COVID shortened season in order to minimize added problems, and it turns out the player's really liked that it ends games faster. I doubt it's any more complicated than that.
  6. I swear I read that as "licking balls" the first time.
  7. Hazel doesn't get any scoops on married players with smokin' hot ex-model wives.
  8. I'll add further clarification: 1. Carlos Baerga 2. Giraffe Neck Guy 3. Anyone else on social media 4. 50 feet of crap 5. Morosi
  9. My guess would be travel. Playing even a few extra innings when needing to fly out that night to play again the next day in another time zone would severely f*** up your internal clock.
  10. One would have to think that signing Freeman... does that push them into making that one last blockbuster deal... trading for J-Ram ? Pushing every chip in the middle for the next 2 years?
  11. I'm pretty sure youre gonna s*** eaither way... thought the timing may be different
  12. THe people who make the decisions seem to disagree, especially the players playing the game. They appear to be the side driving this. "The extra innings ghost runner might be sticking around in Major League Baseball, report Jayson Stark and Matt Gelb of The Athletic. Players, who “heavily support” this new feature from the last two seasons, tell the reporters they expect it to be enacted this week with the announcement of health and safety protocols. Though the automatic runner on second base in extra innings was originally put in place as a COVID response, ultimately the players like it because it has mostly killed the marathon extra innings game. Stark and Gelb note that the apparition may not necessarily appear in the 10th inning, but instead could surface in the 11th or 12th. With the National League adopting the designated hitter this year, baseball traditionalists are doing plenty of grumbling this week."
  13. 4:01pm: Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic reports (on Twitter) that the deal also contains a player to be named later. He adds that Cincinnati believes that still-unknown player “enhances” the quality of their return.
  14. the f*** kind of return is that for Winker and Suarez? THat's embarassing
  15. 2:28pm: Suzuki has not chosen a team yet, according to Dylan Hernandez of the L.A. Times, who says six to seven teams remain under consideration. Jon Heyman of MLB Network names the Padres, Dodgers, Red Sox, Giants, Mariners, and Cubs as some of the teams still involved.
  16. Seattle is going to be dangerous this season. Making some pretty good moves.
  17. The Mariners are finalizing agreement on a deal that would bring in star outfielder Jesse Winker from the Reds, reports Jeff Passan of ESPN (Twitter link). Seattle is also acquiring third baseman Eugenio Suárez, reports Mark Feinsand of MLB.com (on Twitter). More to come.
  18. I'm not speculating on what to do with Vlad until the signing is confirmed. If it is though, I may not be able to walk properly for a month.
  19. The pen is mightier than last year, at least on paper.
  20. Remember, youd be trading the draft slot, so whatever slot bonus is allocated there would have to go with it, or there would be no point.
  21. Matt Olson traded to the Braves, pretty much says Freeman is gone.
  22. I think trading picks in MLB would be even more interesting given the nature of the slotting system, since adding picks would mean more money in your draft pool allocation. Teams could make use of that money any number of ways to make their drafts better.
  23. Sounds like that Robbie Ray guy a bit no? Maybe they've identified some similarities in the two and feel like the same type of adjustments they made with Ray will translate with Kikuchi.
  24. THis is no doubt the gamble being taken here. Underlying numbers give lots of reason for optimism if he can be unlocked. His HR rate last year was also off the charts and probably not something to expect as the norm. Even projecting at 2 WAR... if your 5th starter is projecting at 2 WAR with upside... that's not really something to be worried about.
  25. His OBP abilities give him that higher floor than most and will give him every opportunity to make that swing adjustment that helps him get to his power more. His barrel rate is pretty gross.
