  1. As i said, they dont usually do it with runners on base.
  2. cleanshaven Donaldson just looks so wrong....
  3. The idea is that it helps catchers frame pitches in the low part of the zone, and helps keep the knees healthier. They don't usually do it with runners on
  4. Its hard to not to be excited about this roster's potential. Even today's lineup of Biggio, Bichette, Vlad, Gurriel, Chapman and Kirk is a damn fine looking top 6... add in Springer and Teo and that's 8 deep with position players and the DH slot left. I lightning-in-the-bottle version of Bird would just be the icing on the cake
  5. I cannot put into words how big my erection would be if Biggio turned it around this year and was even a 3 WAR player.
  6. Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigioooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Bomb!
  7. yup. Last night. and speeding. Doing 82 mph in a 45mph zone
  8. Blue Jays have confirmed Pete Walker's arrest on Friday night for DUI and speeding. Pete will make a statement after the game, as will Montoyo.
  9. Got some pop too apparantly. THat one was WAY gone
  10. I know a bit about that... they arent asking you to do that to see if you know the letters backwards, they're looking and hearing for slurred speech and other indicators.
  11. Yankees pitcher can't control it right now... he's his Bichette already, and just got a lucky foul ball when one up and in went off the knob of Chapman's bat...
  12. Manoah just fell after delivering his first pitch. No worse for wear though apparantly.
  13. Yeah. I'm not too educated on those types of things
  14. From yahoo sports: Toronto Blue Jays pitching coach Pete Walker was arrested Friday morning after he was speeding under the influence in Penellas County, Fla. According to local police, the 52-year-old was going 82 mph (131.9 km/h) in a 45-mph zone. The police on scene said that Walker failed his sobriety test and confessed to drinking four beers at a local bar and restaurant. The Blue Jays and Walker are currently in Florida for Spring Training, and their southern home stadium in Dunedin, in Penellas County, is approximately a 10-minute drive from where Walker was caught allegedly speeding under the influence. As of this writing, there has been no official word from the Blue Jays or MLB in terms of potential disciplinary actions on the matter, but there is somewhat of a precedent to this happening to major-league coaches. Chicago White Sox manager and infamous baseball personality Tony La Russa was sentenced to one day of home detention, a mandatory 20 hours of community service, and fined nearly $1,400, for a drunken-driving charge in 2020. La Russa is a repeat offender in this case (he pleaded guilty to driving under the influence in 2007 as well), and the initial arrest happened before he was hired by the White Sox. Walker’s situation could prove a little more complicated as a current employee in the middle of Spring Training.
  15. Apparantly Pete got himself a DUI last night while greatly exceeding the speed limit.
  16. Likely just lost the pitching coach due to stupidity. Who's up to replace Pete Walker?
  17. FOund a differnt outlet with more info: The charge report from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office shows Walker was released on a $500 cash bond. The booking date was just shortly after 2am. Walker is listed as a resident of Quaker Hill, Connecticut So, unlikely a Jays facility. Was likely just out having a few drinks and made a really bad decision. Where's that wet blanket thread....
  18. I dunno. The Jays didnt release McGuire for jacking off in a parking lot, so a speeding ticket while being a bit tipsy may not result in termination either. It sure could though. Which would suck...
  19. Odd that no mainstream MLB news or reporters have picked up on this. That report has been up for well over an hour. They're usually faster than that on stuff like this.
  20. Well that's not good. That's the kind of charge that can stop a guy from getting across the border.
  21. I love these two lineups. Once the reg season starts, it's like a clash of the titans from 1-6(arguably 7) on each side.
  22. The next step in this process, is Grant staying off the board for a few days, waiting for the thread to die down a bit, then come back and bump it with some kind of half-handed backtracking where he acknowledges that the real numbers MAY indicate otherwise, but because they don't match with his eye test, the numbers just don't tell the whole story.
  23. Also Grant, if you need an example of trolling... look no further than the King of Kings, King.
  24. https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/blue-jays-valued-at-1-78-billion-in-latest-forbes-mlb-franchise-rankings/ Blue Jays up to 1.78 Billion in value according to Forbes. Not bad at all.
