  1. Are the Guardians ever really a true buyer at the deadline though? Recent history says they dont really add big pieces at that point, they're far more active in the offseasons
  2. Speaking of which, Sanchez signed a minor league deal with Washington earlier. still hangin on
  3. THat's pretty much my point. 3b/C is a logjam right now. THere's 2 good catching options already on the roster, and a 3b that isnt going anywhere for 2 years (except maybe the DL) It's a good problem to have, but it's also the obvious place to deal from to address any needs, whether they choose to move a major league piece or the prospect pieces of the logjam.
  4. another good take. As much as we dont like Grichuk's bat, he's really the only good CF option on the roster defensively if/when Springer gets hurt. The rotation depth also just got thinner. Pearson is probably the first man up of course in the event of injury, but beyond that, everyone is unproven to say the least. Even Pearson isn't really proven.
  5. Valid POV. Let me counter it just for the sake of argument - specifically for the purpose of landing Ramirez via trade. Groshans (3b), Moreno (c and maybe 3b), Martinez (SS/3b) are the biggest names left on the farm. All are now effectively blocked at the ML level for at least the next 2 seasons. Not as big a deal with Martinez as he is further away, but Moreno and Groshans are basically knocking on the door. Can't hold them down for 2 full seasons, they'll be rule 5 eligible before then. Why not use them as capital now for arguably the best trade that can be made right now in trying to land Ramirez?
  6. Don't you dare interrupt the circle jerk you sonuva bitch
  7. Think outside the box a bit.... Ramirez + Bieber, they can have Manoah, Orelvis, Moreno and Atkins left nut.
  8. The team as is could hit 105 wins with luck and pitching health. Ramirez would put them into 110+ territory
  9. It kinda makes sense at this point. If there's a Ramirez trade to be had and he's okay plying 2b... may as well pull the trigger and just attempt to restock the farm over the next 2 years.
  10. Not sure. He's married to a Canadian, and did some work with the Vancouver Canadians a few years back with colour commentary, but haven't heard anything since then.
  11. For sure, I just think in the right mega-lineup, they would strongly consider it. I think Vlad ... his bat is special enough that whether he plays 1b exclyusively, 1b/DH, 1b/3b/DH, he's gonna get paid.
  12. Yeah, those players still unsigned are missing out on ST reps, but I guess when your decision is hinging on multiple hundreds of millions of dollars, missing the early part of ST isnt really on their mind.
  13. I dont think i've read anything that says either player would be opposed to it. It's a reasonable assumption though that a player who normally plays the field would want to continue to play the field. But it's also a reasonable assumption that if you have already traded for J-Ram, Freeman looks a the lineup and says "yes please" and Vlad looks at a possible lineup with both J-ram and Freeman and says "Dime cuándo estar en el estadio de béisbol"
  14. Don't tease me.... But in all seriousness, if you sign Freeman or land Ramirez via trade.... it kinda makes sense to just go for it and get the other deal done. you're all in but youve got at least a 2 year juggernaut window (assuming no Ramirez extension) and at least 4 years of juggernaut-lite.
  15. Don't sell yourself short. Maybe you just changed because...people tend to do that as they get older.
  16. Or a trade for an All Star 3B, or both.
  17. shoot out in hockey would be more the same to a HR derby. the ghost runner comp is already in place in the NHL with 3 on 3. It's not the perfect apples to apples but it's designed to accomplish the same thing, someone gets a goal in less than 5 minutes.
  18. Probably, clearly im no pitching coach, but having both a cutter and a slider seems like it wouldnt be ideal. Both pitches move glove side, slider is slower with a bit more break, cutter is harder with less break. With his decent change, I would think shelving the cutter in favor of the slider would be a good place to start, or shelving the slider and keeping the cutter.
  19. I'd almost like to see the Padres land him just so Hosmer and Myers rot on the bench with their contracts.

  21. March 15, 2022 - Mediation begins Today, the University of Lethbridge and the University of Lethbridge Faculty Association (ULFA) begin a new mediation effort. Mediation is scheduled for multiple dates this week, and we are hopeful it will lead to a resolution that invites students and faculty back to class soon. The University remains committed to settling an agreement that respects the value of our faculty, honours our responsibilities to students, and protects the University’s fundamental need for financial stability and long-term sustainability. We will keep students and other stakeholders informed about mediation updates as they become available. f***in clowns...
  22. Sure, my post was more tongue in cheek than anything. I'm sure both Kikuchi and Jansen both realize his cutter got demolished last season, so whether he likes the pitch or not, there likely needs to be some changes. Granted, it was only his second season using the pitch, as he only started using it in 2020 after dumping his horrible curveball.
  23. Gratz bud. Start the knuckleball grip early and she can be the first female MLB pitcher.
  24. I'm sure Pete Walker popped over after he saw the tweet, pointed to one of his sheets and said something along the lines of "uh, no."
  25. Its impossible to have a constructive converstaion with you in many cases. When your mind is made up, literally nothing can be said to change your mind. Im not even disputing the ghost runner being a dumb idea, just your assertion that the players are doing it out of some malice to the game and the fans. They just want to get on the plane and get to bed sooner without it screwing them over for the next 3 days. It's a perfectly normal human reaction to avoid stressors that can be avoided.
