  1. oh right, forgot about that. Good call sir.
  2. Speaking for myself only, I understand why umps get extremely borderline calls wrong sometimes. The problem is not with the pitches that barely graze the edges of the zone with just the very edge of the spinning stitches, the problem is it's impossible to be consistent with those calls due to the limitations of the human eye. That's when it gets crazy, when pitches in basically identical locations get called balls and strikes back and forth. I will say i am alos firmly in the camp of the ones where the pitcher misses his spot but ends up throwing the ball well within the strize zone to be strikes. Understanding why something is called a ball does not excuse it being called a ball when it's not even close. And i think the reason they get those calls so wrong is because of where the ump sets up on those pitches. If they just set up in a more central location, they'd be far less influenced by the catcher's movements.
  3. I grew up a few minutes from a bison farm. It's mighty good, but very very very lean. Not enough fat for my tastes. Elk is incredible too for leaner game meats
  4. no, cant pitch without a catcher. Aside from the pitcher, the catcher is the only other position player that has to be in a certain spot. every other fielder the only current rule is that they all must begin the play in fair territory.
  5. Yeah that's what i was hinting at with him starting to get back on the right track. He hired an army of scouts, crosscheckers, evaluators etc and as a result got some guys that other teams were nowhere near. Step 1 - done. Definitely not so good at step 2 of the development, but it was better than under JPR, even if he ended up trading them all rather than keeping them in house. AA really shined in gaming the then ridiculous Type A and B compensation system for extra draft picks too.
  6. I dont know the cap rules of the NBA that well, but given the youth on their roster, they should have a decent amount of space for additions right? LIke, whether it's via trade or FA?
  7. It was horrifying. Up and down his draft lists are nothing buts random cups of coffee, part time nobodies, backup catchers and future relievers. His draft record was beyond horrendous
  8. I dont think its intent is to hold things against umps, but rather to show the kind of impact a missed call can have in any given situation. They're not saying that call was the worst call, just that it potentially impacted the potential run scoring environment more. They explain their methodology quite well on their website.
  9. Jp Ricciardi was the GM from 2001 to 2009. Pretty much explains all of that with his draft philosophy and gutting the scouting dept. Then AA came along and got them started back on the right track but yeah, it really did take until the current regime to see meaningful impacts.
  10. Yes he's seing more in the zone, but he's swinging at them less, whilst making less contact both in and out of the zone by quite a lot.
  11. Did you motorboat her? Please tell you motorboated her …. Even if you didn’t, just say you did
  12. Actually the Jays have been favoured in most of their games, but when they are favoured the impact on runs is minimal. When they get f***ed though, they get f***ed hard. They’re have favourable calls in like 75% of their games, but still have the 5th worst negative runs from umps. It’s quite a weird dynamic
  13. I was doing them waaaaaaaay back on the MLB blue jays forum before this one split off to get away from the rabble. King picked up the mantle after this board began and my work hours changed. I did them way back when because I worked till 2am and had all kinds of time before going to bed to recap the minors. If I recall correctly, I/we started the daily recaps around 2010ish when Syndergaard, Sanchez, Nicolino and Marisnick were all going through Lansing and we couldn’t stop reading the box scores nightly to see what an amazing future the Jays were about to have. Not to mention household names like Gustavo Pierre, Balbino Fuenmayor, Marcus Knecht, Mike Crouse, Carlos Perez(cotf!), Drew Hutchison, Kenny Wilson, Sean Nolin…good times. Might have even been sooner now that I look at some of those old rosters from 2008 , 2009…. Tyler Pastornicky, johmeryn Chavez, Mike McDade, AJ Jimenez and Henderson Alvarez…I remember going through those box scores every night
  14. Awe, perfect afternoon for a ballgame on the beach, sipping a cold one while getting a massage from some coconut bra wearing hotel masseuse.
  15. Todays "Jays in 30" is gonna be the most boring show in recent memory. Can only show Manoah for so long.
  16. Just for the jays against Boston? Prior to todays game it was +1.22 runs in Toronto's favour over the 6 games. Dont have todays data yet Last season totaled +1.06 runs in favour of Boston.
  17. Nice! I'll be watching from Mauritius next week. getting up at like 5am for a ballgame seems like a graet way to spend the morning on the beach
  18. Gonna wait until todays numbers update, but i feel like there's a lot more swing/miss in Espinal's game this season over previous years. Good EVs, and still stellar D, but something seems amiss with his swing
  19. Watching Manoah pitch a beauty while also seeing an offense that doesnt suck? That would have been better.
  20. Grant in high school probably.
