  1. Exactly. Every manager in baseball today will be fired at some point or has been fired multiple times. It doesn't necessarily mean the hire was wrong in the first place, just that it's no longer right... now.
  2. Nah. From all reports so far, this road was started on prior to that. The bottom line was, he lost the room. How he lost the room doesnt really matter at this point. It was probably not just 1 thing, but a combination as that's how these things usually play out. He just wasnt the right guy, they finally realized it, gave him a chance to reclaim it over the past few weeks, realized it was futile and finally did somethign about it.
  3. I dont think he should burn the jacket. He should bring a s***** straw scarecrow into the dugout that just happens to look like Montoyo, maybe with some bongos attached, hang it in the corner, and put the HR jacket on it. Then DARE some fool to take the jacket off it and see what happens.
  4. July 13 Vladdy - 1 Point - Kirk - 1 Point - Springer - 1 Point - Bichette - 2 Points - Chapman - 2 Points - Hernández - 2 Points - JaysAllMighty Gurriel Jr - 4 Points - Spanky69 Espinal - 6 Points - Tapia - 8 Points - Stangstag, Jays4life19 Off the bench: 10 Points - Atkins - 500 million points - John_Havok: already hit the biggest HR of the year by firing Montoyo.
  5. I think this wins the internet today.
  6. It's actually interesting now that Schneider is getting a shot at the big club as interim manager. He played his entire minor league career with the Jays (after saying f*** you to the tigers when they tried to draft him) and as soon as it was over, signed on as the jays minor league catching instructor. Worked his way up to manager at Vancouver (short season A at the time and at the time was the youngest manager in Jays history at any level). In fact he's been the manager at every level in the Jays system except AAA, and won championships at 3 of those levels. This has Blue Jays success story written all over it.
  7. I hope he grabs Tapia, holds him down with one hand, shaves those ridiculous dreadlocks with the other and tells him he needs to earn them back.
  8. Anyone who isnt a blue jays rookie... so like nearly all of them.
  9. Then keep up the good work. i've got another great thread ready to go if the Jays lose tonight.
  10. Suffice to say - he'd lost the clubhouse and it was time to go. Anything beyond that is immaterial. Time to move on.
  11. Dont read too much into the press conference. Its not like he was gonna come out and say "yeah, Charlie was a f***ing tool with no clue. He'd never hold anyone accountable and was more interested in his bongos than the lineups. Total muppet. Everything will be totally different going forward."
  12. Lame duck seasons are..... lame.
  13. He's starting Tapia in his first game as manager. THis is not a good start.
  14. Just getting ahead of the game.
  15. To be fair to Vlad, he knows if his foot was on the bag or not, the video room only knows what it kinda looks like from certain angles. He KNEW, the video room thought they knew. As for the mini-tantrum by Vlad - yeah, can't let that slide. You take him aside and you tell him straight up that regardless of how you feel in the moment, it's the managers call to make and just because it goes against what you said to do, doesnt mean you get to throw a hissy fit. You're a professional. Bring us your thoughts in the dugout during the next half inning and we'll go down the hall and talk about it without it showing anyone up and setting a bad examnple for your teammates. Your a valued leader in the clubhouse Vlad, so act like it. Now get the f*** out of here and go have the kind of at bat everyone here knows you can have. The end.
  16. Only took 87 pages!!! A new record.
  17. Should we find their forum and send them a thank you post?
  18. Well holy s***. This is the best news Ive heard all day
  19. Youre right, they dont know, which is why all they can go on is what they see. I, for one, would love to see Vlad come up to the plate, stare down the pitcher and show a little more intensity from time to time. Doesnt have to be every AB or even every game. But when Vlad got fired up during that bench clearing incident, that's the kind of intensity i want to see at the plate every one in a while.
  20. What you say is true, but its hard from a fan's perspective to watch a guy like him who oozes talent take absolutley horrible cuts at the plate, look completely lost (last night was just... wtf) make mental errors in the field (the 1b missed bag...wtf?!) and be all smiley and goofy in the dugout afterwards. It give's the impression that he doesnt care. It gives the impression that he's totally okay with being utter s*** for games at a time, costing the Jays runs and possibly wins, as long as he's having fun. That's not what a fan wants to see. Now that of course likely isnt true, you dont get to the level of any sport he's at without caring. On the flip side it's also incredibly cringey what Sale did the other day in the minors, trashing the clubhouse after pitching like crap. But, at least that kind of reaction fans can understand and somewhat relate to, given we've all had days at work where we come home and want to smash the s*** out of something. We probably don't, but we can understand the feeling and relate. People can't relate to the "ho hum, it's fine even though i sucked today and yesterday and the day before, and have lost 8 out of 9 games."
  21. In his defense, he beat the throw. just slid off.
  22. Sweet. The RH lineup of death!
  23. yeah you f***ers kept getting married and having kids, kinda puts a strain on availability. Whatever the case may be, the 1 Jays minor leaguer we spoke to made the big leagues (for Boston sure... ) so I call the entire thing a success.
  24. There's no way he can play average LF or he'd be playing there already, most likely. They could probably stick him out there occasionally if you had to to give a guy a day off, but that's about it.
