  1. Watch them ditch all their starting pitcfhers and sign nothing but lefties now also, then move the fences back in to a sensible distance after a few years.
  2. And right up there with art, high end collectibles are basically nothing but money laundering.
  3. When i was watching this camera shot last night the exact thought running throuh my head was "this guy looks like a serial killer"
  4. Dude is sitting splitter for sure, why not try the slider here?
  5. Swung at the right pitch, just didnt get a good result. Damn
  6. I dunno, in Oakland it's nice to know someone in the park is getting past 3rd base.
  7. Just when you thought the cheap seats couldnt get any cheaper...
  8. Calf injury so they can be an issue that keeps popping up over and over. 15 day Il can still be extended, it's not like they have to activate him after 15 days.
  9. I get that, but if bringing up Pop meatn losing Merryweather, when you could bring up Merryweather and keep both... isnt it smarter to do that until Merryweather's next injury?
  10. Youre half right. I think ownership does care, but keeps getting hamstrung by their local government and San Francisco. Their latest proposal for a new stadium was amazing, and got s*** on. it was a massive 12 billion dollar project that would have been less than 10% publicly funded (850 million) and it got s*** on, though it's not completely dead yet.
  11. Tapia should just be punted into the sun. He's worse defensively than both Zimmer and JBJ, his baserunning ability doesnt set him apart from them and his offense is brutal. I'd rather roll with JBJ and Zimmer and just get rid of Tapia altogether.
  12. I think the issues with the Jays are process related. Like, there's no overall problem with hitting against RHP, but there are definitely key times where you would want to be able to bring in a Lefty off the bench to force a change on the mound where you might get the advantage for the next two hitters after the lefty. Those situations come up more often than we really think, but may not show up as drastic differences in wRC+ in the lineup over the full season. That said, there's so many 1-offs that are screwing the Jays over. Bo is hitting lefties like absolute s*** this year, when his career numbers are completely opposite. That's a thing that can rear it's ugly head in key moments of games. Ditto his defense that overall seems to be better on the season as a whole, but when he makes a mistake it's a guarantee that it costs the team runs. Simple plays like fielding a bunt down the first base line and not looking to both 3rd and 2nd before throwing late to 1st (like wtf Vlad.. that was just so dumb ...), baserunning blunders that run themselves out of scoring position, or plays in the outfield like Teo over the weekend where he's basically given up on a ball and it hits the wall at head height 5 feet to his right when he clearly thinks it gone... bad plate appraoches that you just have no idea what the batter is looking for and he flails away at balls well outside the zone when there's guys on base instead of keyholing a location. The problem with the JAys is not talent, it's 100% between the ears. Espinal thought he became a slugger and forgot how to use the entire field. Vlad's oppo power is gone and cant seem to get balls in the air anymore. Teo has torrid stretches of mashing baseballs then goes beyond cold for a week where it looks like he has no idea what sport he's playing. Lourdes, the opposite of Vlad, has finally found out how to use the opposite field and now couldnt pull a ball for power if his life depended on it. Tapia just straight sucks and has dreadlocks for brains. The team is either red hot, or ice cold. That solid floor of consistency is absent. Over a season, the hot streaks might be slightly longer than the cold streaks as we've seen so far. If the Jays get into the wildcard, its 50/50 if they steamroll their opposition or get shut out 2 straight and go home.
  13. Or even 500. Not a good look for a team that pretty much doubled it's season ticket prices this year.
  14. If all he as to do is run and defend.... great! He's batter than Tapia at both
  15. That's impressively terrible.
  16. When TV graphics are the best: Doubt it was the best series of the year, maybe a solid #2 though. Any scoring in the bottom of the turd innng? I wonder what kind of movement on the bases resulted in the runs? Brownie, need you to chime in here….
  17. I think it’s decidedly possible he could be worse than a league average bat who can at least play a few different positions. Either way, 1b and DH is taken, so unless you figure a gap to gap lefty who needs to sit on the bench all game and only get 1 pinch hitting appearance per game at best is an ideal solution to Biggio, who at least has some defensive utility and is already a league average bat with known upside… Yeah makes total sense.
  18. I don’t really see Gurriel as having an up year with the bat. Sure, higher average, but his power has disappeared. His overall run creation is about in line with last season, give or take a few points. He basically traded his power for more singles. He’s a guy who should be hitting 25Hr+ in a season, but here he is on track to finish with like…7? I want 2020 Gurriel back, you can have this version.
  19. This team is Jekyll and Hyde on a pitch to pitch, PA to PA, game to game and series to series basis. Sweep Boston in Fenway, then about to get swept by the Angels at home? They’re the weirdest group of hitters too. Like, on fire or ice cold, nothing in between.
  20. TBD. He’s getting a good challenge at AAA after a hot first few games there. More of a doubles power guy right now with no defensive home other than 1b. They’re trying to get him more games in LF to see if that’s even a possibility, but…still playing the vast majority of games at 1b. Good eye at the plate though, still taking a good amount of walks. Sucks vs lefty pitching. Kills RHP. From everything I’ve read on him he’s a guy who makes very good swing decisions and make solid contact a lot, just doesn’t get the ball elevated as often as he could. Line drive gap to gap guy.
  21. And that's enough of that. I'm going to get so piss drunk not even Spanky will be able to understand me. f*** this.
  22. Ive seen like 5 batters so far in this game and it's already pissing me off so much I want to throw things. They just tried to give us an out, and Vlad f***ed it up. Just pick up the ball, throw it first and say thank you.
  23. Whoever the video review guy is, needs to be fired. That was nowhere near close enough to even think they had a shot at overturning. 1 TV replay and it was 100% clear he was safe. What a moronic challenge.
  24. 100% out, stfu Buck. He lost contact with the bag, the rule of the baserunner not being allowed to come off the bag has been in place since baseball started. Video replay wasn't institued to ONLY tell if the throw beat the runner, it was instituted to see if the call was made right or not. It wasn't. It should be overturned, please stfu Buck.
  25. NOt sure what having chlamydia matters to the situation. Being a college athlete, NOT getting chlamydia awould be more shocking.
