  1. Wasnt any real extension talks to my knowledge, they had offered him a bit higher than the minimum and he rejected that, so he got the league minimum. It was he and Manoah I believe. Good thing they dont both play for AA or they'd both already be extended for a 3 million AAV until they're both 35.
  2. Put yourself in their catalog, then you'll get real results.
  3. He is so far, the question is whether he will remain a FIP beater. Based on publicly available metrics my guess would be yes.
  4. Alvarado gonna have nightmares about Alvarez for the next few years.
  5. As opposed to immediate help... later?

Nah, it's not a "fight or don't fight" thing, it's the standing there and watch with "i dont care" attitude while everyone else jumps in to make sure you dont get hurt after he was the one who went after Konecny in the first place to start the entire thing. If a guy is going to skate after a guy, crosscheck him good up high, and give him a few stick jabs and then just smile and watch while other guys jump in and not even try to intercept 2 other Flyers who were trying to get in on his teammates... that's the problem. If you start the problem, ya gotta at least grab someone and skate them away from the pile. What he did is tell his team that he has no problem with stick work until it comes time to get physical, then he's going to back down and let someone else possibly get hurt for him. It's not a good look for a supposed team leader.

I was watching the end of this game last night and couldnt even think of the words to describe how bad this was from Matthews. It sends all the wrong signals about what he is as a player. Can he score? Yep. But there's no hockey "soul' present.
  8. Except Verlander apparently sucks in the World Series because ... reasons. Also, forgot to type in the "depth doesnt matter unless there's injuries" part.
  9. Depth doesnt really matter in the post season with all the off days... that's why there's so many upsets. The top 3 arms for the wildcard teams are pretty comparable to the top 3 of any first place team.
  10. Nope. From Their GM last off-season... "Essentially, it's a contract offer of $18.4 million for one (year)," White Sox general manager Rick Hahn said Tuesday at the GM meetings in Southern California. "And we made the assessment based on everything we know, which includes our needs and our other targets, that that wasn't an offer we were comfortable making at this time."
  11. They can still be offered a QO by their team unles they've received a QO in the past or were traded during the season. I think Rodon and Verlander have both had QO's before so.. the Mets can still offer DeGrom a QO when he opts out, which he will surely reject. QO for this upcoming season is 19.65 million Edit: Just checked, Rodon has not received the QO before, so he will likely get one too.
  12. DeGrom and Rodon for sure - Verlander is a maybe Have no idea what they might get. both DeGrom and Rodon have injury concerns that might limit their contract length, but both should get pretty nice AAVs
  13. Pretty nice pic, except for the hat... cant wear that s*** indoors. That's almost as douchey as wearing sunglasses inside.
  14. Its really hard to say, there are probably some teams that would value Jansen more and some would value Moreno more. Much of that would depend on where each team is in their cycle of building, contending, re-building etc as well as their hypothetical payroll contraints.
  15. There's so many reasons why trading him makes the most sense and all kinds of reasons why the return on him wouldnt be what they think it should be either.
  16. Any teams out there shopping front line starters with control?
  17. I'm beginning to undertand that your posting name is one of the greatest ironies out there right now.
  18. Springer had his elbow surgery today, expected to be ready for spring training.
  19. For balls and strikes.... yup. Still need them for everything else that needs calling at the plate.
  20. It also depends highly on which calls are being challenged. When you look at the umpire scorecards, you can see the umps are far better at calling pitches outside of the strike zone correctly, vs in the strike zone.
  21. yeah, I think this is just a baby step they are doing rather than jumping straight into "earpiece with the ump" kind of thing where they get 1 tone for a strike, or 2 for a ball...then the ump just signals the call. To me, the latter is the preferred choice. Challenges is not the right way to go if you have the tech to do it the other way. Challenges could get very tedious very quickly on both sides of the ball.
