  1. Basketball didnt start with a shot clock either, but after a few years they realized they needed one to keep the action going smoothly
  2. One thing that I dont get about the logic of creditting players with a sacrifice... LIke, if you bunt to get a guy from 2nd to 3rd or 1st to 2nd... it's a sacrifice. If you hit a fly ball that scores the runner from third... sacrifice. But hitting a fly ball out that advances the runner to 2nd or 3rd, just a normal out. Why no sacrifice on a play like that? It's not like when a player is up there with a runner on third and less than 2 outs they're actively trying to give themselves up with a flyball, that's just what happens. So why is only a sacrifice if the runner scores?
  3. Gotta stop the changeup, they know its coming. Shelve it FFS
  4. catchers interference on 0-2 count... just... f*** off
  5. They must have picked up a tell on his changeup, they're just all over it.
  6. Yup. he's so stuck into protecting against the slider right now he's just a tick late on those heaters. He'll get there though.
  7. Doesnt need to be skinny, just going from bowling ball to bowling pin would be a great start
  8. Yup, Os are sitting all over the change up, literally spitting on everything else. If he can spot his fastball today he can breeze through this lineup.
  9. I really hope he takes his fitness to heart this offseason. He could have an incredible career if he shaves down 30-50 pounds. Being a catcher with his build already in his early 20s (if not improved) is a near certain recipe for being out of baseball by 30.
  10. Nah, was referring to the previous games against them in the last series. If you watch the MLB recap videos, when something good happens for the Orioles, you hear their broadcasters on the recap and it was so bad.... its really hard to describe how homeristic and ball sucking it was.
  11. It’s really just the last month and a half. Prior to maybe the middle of July he was brutal.
  12. The Os broadcasters are just excited they can finally call games for a team that isn’t a complete dumpster fire. Give them a break! They absolutely gush over everything that goes their way though, like if someone hits a ball through the shift it’s like “go ahead and shift on him, he doesn’t care, he just hits it through you!…” like the guy does it every time or is the next coming of Ty Cobb….in reality it happens 1 out of 10 times but yeah, let’s celebrate.
  13. I don’t mind it either, it’ll just be peaks and valleys for the most part. For a fine defensive catcher he’s decided that has to be his approach. So be it. He’s making it work
  14. We’ve been talking about Guerrero for the last like 10 pages…
  15. Good win . Rays lose. Mariners losing but still plenty of time for the Angels to f*** that up. Not sure I like seeing 7 pitchers used in a win, but here’s hoping for length out of the starter tomorrow.
  16. Not sure that matters given he sucked in 2020 as well playing out of a minor league park.
  17. Just don't throw Vlad a splitter and youre okay.
  18. To follow up on your train of thought: 2021 Swing visual: 2022 Swing Visual Not hard to see where the gap is. He's objectively worse in all of the Heart, Shadow and Chase zones. Heart: swinging less, taking more. Shadow and Chase: Swinging more, taking fewer pitches, and the ones he is taking arent the ones he should be taking given the -7 run value in the Shadow zone. It may partially explain the uptick in grounders if he's swigning at more of the pitcher's pitches, but probably not the whole story as far as the grounders goes.
  19. Any series win is a successful series no matter who the opponent is.
  20. It's interesting that you picked baserunning and defense to pick them apart, because the Jays are worse than both of those numbers. Also, 16th in the entire league isnt really a good comparison since they dont need to compete against the NL for a playoff spot. In the AL their offense is 5th by wRC+ and pitching is 8th by fWAR. Combine those two and it's not surprising to see them right in the middle of the playoff hunt with expanded playoffs. It's kinda where they should be.
  21. Seems like we had Zach Pop a few years ago, but his name then was Aaron Sanchez.
  22. Gotta charge that ball Cavan... cant back up into the outfield.
  23. Vlad PA #2 Pitch 1 - Good take, perfect slider that barely nipped the outer corner, called strike - good no-swing decision, could have easily been called a ball. Pitch 2 - Good swing on a meatball, just missed it. Pitch 3 - Good take on a slider away, not really close. Pitch 4 - Had to swing 1-2 with a 2 seamer on the outer half, pounded it into the ground. Overall, good appraoch, swung at what he should, didnt swing at what he shouldnt have, just didnt have success. Fouling off that meatball on Pitch 2 was unfortunate.
  24. Manoah is very slow to the plate, any half competent runner can steal on him.
  25. Dang, that was a hanger. Deserved to be launched.
