  1. Clearly the wrong choice of course, but he was clearly the wrong choice all bloody season. Kinda leads me to believe that JS decision making mindset had been formed by continuous pressure from the boys upstairs all season long and had he done something other than put Tapia in, he would be forced to explain himself. Conjecture on my part of course, but how else is using Tapia as much as he was all season long explained when it's obvious to anyone with eyes that he sucks defensively?
  2. his wRC+ went from 115 to 99. He didn't improve. Hard hit rate is 1 measure, not some be all end all thing that indicates significant improvement. He's not a power hitter, never will be, so he should stop trying to be one and get back to doing what he was successful at, which is hitting from line to line. If he hits the ball harder while doing so, great! Might mean a few extra base hits over singles, but he has got to get this idea out of his head that he needs to be a power hitter. It broke his approach and made him less valuable as a hitter
  3. Atkins: John, what would you do differently in WC Game 2? JS: I wouldnt use the shittiest OF defender that you guys forced me to roster all season as a defensive replacement and probably not put in a lefty to flip around a switch hitter to his better side which would probably have been foloowed by another RH PH who also destroys lefties. Atkins. Good enough. And also f*** you for the Tapia dig. JS: f*** you too..... sir.
  4. Not in pencil, maybe a weird coloured crayon.
  5. Yeha, maybe im reading too much into it but Philly already confirmed their interim, and usually if an interim manager sucks, they just let him go at the end of the season and move on right away. I can't imagine they aren't happy with his record after his taking over the role - last game moves notwithstading.
  6. Something Ive been thinking about, it is kind of weird they havent confirmed him as the new manager yet. Maybe theyre waiting until the post-season is over but usually the interim managers are confirmed or fired pretty quick towards the end of the season. Wouldnt it be kind of awkward to have plans not to retain Schneider as the bench boss but want to keep him around for the same role he was in last year under Montoyo?
  7. Silver lining - cant hit into a double play if there's nobody on base. So at least they're getting on base a lot.
  8. Yeah they do, they just dont know it yet.
  9. Nah, Rogers could easily blow past 200million if they wanted to. The Jays make them a ton of money - couple that with what I'm sure will be even more billions of dollars per year in revenues after their merger with Shaw that should not be allowed to happen but still will because money rules the world instead of common sense, and the Jays ownership should be able to print their own money.
  10. so many posts just to boil down the simple truth about Atkins - he's built a very solid foundation, made some small adjustments to that, and now needs to do the hard part; taking a perennial 90+ win playoff team to the next level. That's way harder to do than the first part, costs more money, involves more risk and only results in small incremental improvements. 90% of his job has been done and done very well. The last 10% is what separates a good GM from a great one - and even then doesnt guarantee a WS
  11. Robbie Ray comes in and throws 2 consecutive sinkers, by far the worst of the 3 ptiches he has. Like... what? nothing like getting beat by throwing your worst pitch.
  12. So ... Kimbrel isnt on the roster for the DS ?
  13. Holy s***, Seattle should rebuild immediately. Cant hold a 7-3 lead with 2 innings left? Fire the GM, the manager and trade the entire bullpen. f***ing amateurs.
  14. Whomever asked that question to Ross is a moron. What is the answer they're expecting? team has back to back 90+ win seasons. Yup definitely need to tear down and rebuild.... he's never going to bury any players publicly even if he did think moving a core player was necessary for any number of reasons. Reporters are so.... unoriginal. The only reason to ask that question of the Jays if is the reporter has an opinion column lined up with a clickbait headline about how the Jays need to tear down and rebuild, but the man in charge says no - cue the outrage clicks
  15. Option 3, Rocket him into the sun
  16. The obvious trade candidate is Jansen, he's older, has less control remaining and is getting more expensive year by year. Kirk matches his offensive upside for less money - but don't kid yourself on the body thing. All catcher's bodies fail eventually, and his will fail faster than most because of it. Maybe it wont happen in his first 6-7 years, but no way he makes in past 30 in MLB without significantly altering his body unless he's a bowling ball unicorn.
  17. Hate to break it to ya, but Espinal was very much worse with the stick this season vs 2021. He had maybe 2 good months, then hit the skids for the rest of the season
  18. Showalter will ask for another ear check just to get in their heads. What a joke of a request that was lol
  19. Many players will be fired.
  20. The most clear need on the pitching side is swing and miss in the pen. The most glaring need for position players is addition by subtraction with improved defense in mind. The offense can take a hit and still be top 5 in the league next season. There’s lots of dead weight to be cut, some pieces to be moved and bigger fish to bring in.
  21. I don’t think there’s much doubt at all he will be extended. He managed the exact same team as Montoyo to a .622 winning percentage after his promotion. That’s not a guy you fire because your team s*** the bed in a playoff game.
  22. Clearly. We’ll point to his 16 HR decline from last season as evidence of this new focus on HRs.
  23. All of you have such limited vision. Blow up the RC and move the team to Vegas
  24. Man I hate being this right
