  1. Indeed. It's almost like its obvious why he hasn't signed yet
  2. mnot sure if it would be as soon as ST, but there will be a date in there somewhere for sure.
  3. THe only reason to bring up Escobar would be to ride the bench for a few weeks and then not care if they lost him via DFA. Minor league deal, this isnt the same as Tapia or Zimmer who were both already on the 40 man and got way too much rope.
  4. My guess would be somewhere around the 6/150 he was projected for my mlbtraderumours. I suspect he will end up closer to a 4/90-100 kind of deal with perhaps an option on the end.
  5. Escobar is plan Z in case IKF, Espinal, Biggio, Bo, Schneider, Barger, Jimenez and Clement all die in separate car crashes on the way to the field.
  6. JD probably isn’t wanting to sign a minor league deal…yet.
  7. Manfred will not be seeking another term as MLB commissioner when his current term runs out in 2029. Love him or hate him, baseball is on an upward trajectory.
  8. If not a minor league deal, fire Atkins.
  9. Yeah the Rays have a great system in place that allows them to make the most of a revolving door of players giving them the edge in matchups over a full season. Then the playoffs start and they have to settle on 26 guys, and those 26 guys can't get it done. Their depth serves them incredibly well over 162 games, but means nothing in a playoff series.
  10. I couldn't care less if he meets the arbitrary criteria of all the professional fitness scouts here, I want to know if his mechanics are back and can control his damn pitches.
  11. I liked their colour scheme but the font was crap, and there wasn’t anything really fresh about it. I thought Arizona could have hit a home run with the “Serpientes” thing, but … name alone is just a good start, the rest was kinda boring. The redesigned logo of Cinci was cool, and their red really popped off the black. But a very basic design overall. Colorado had a great idea with the mountainscape thing, but I thought the colour choice was a bit weird. The Padres went all out, but that variety of colour was more like someone ate a pastel board and threw up on a jersey. They get points for trying though.
  12. I knew a stripper named Christie Pits once….
  13. I think the only ones so far that didn't instantly make me further disappointed in humanity were Colorado, Arizona and Cinci. That's not to say I really liked them just that at least they started with a good premise but could have done so much more
  14. It's not the jersey quality that made nearly every city connect jersey so far.....suck
  15. One good thing the Jays have going for them, the only free agents after this season are Jansen, Richards, Yimi, Turner, KK and Kikuchi, all of whom would have many replacement options available. That, couple with a ton of guys going into their last seasons before FA, they have all kinds of options available when it comes to hanging on to certain guys, trading, or completely nuking the roster and starting over List of guys with 1 year left after 2024…Vlad, Bo, Bassitt, Green, IKF, Romano, Biggio, Mayza, Swanson, Cabrera.
  16. They could get a head start on it after this season with Bregman or Soto. Even signing one of those guys might entice one of Bo or Vlad to sign and extension. Hypothetically....let's assume they sign Bregman to an 8 year deal and one of Bo or Vlad signs an extension. Does the other guy get traded with a full year left or do they roll the dice and take the 5th round comp pick or whatever garbo pick it would be since they'd very obviously be over the luxury tax. Other notable FA targets that could be available assuming no extensions.... Burnes, Fried, Bieber, Scherzer, Woodruff, Goldschmidt, Alonso, Adames, Buehler, and Gerrit Cole if he opts out. Kim should also be an FA since he has a mutual option, but should definitely turn it down if he has another good year. The following offseason isn’t as fun, Realmuto, Vlad, Bo, Gallen…some excellent relievers tho https://www.mlb.com/news/baseball-s-next-free-agent-classes
  17. No doubt. If Soler was willing to signs a 2 year deal he would have already. I suspect he probably turned down 2 year deal with higher AAVs prior to getting his 3 year deal. Not significantly higher but 2/30 or 2/32 I could definitely believe to have been offered.
  18. Soler was adamant about a third year, Giants were the only ones willing to add it on it looks like. Pass on that though the AAV isn’t nutty or anything.
  19. There's no doubt that pitching and defense is the floor that Atkins built. Everywhere on the field has above average defenders in place with the exception of Bo (who did improve a bit last year) and the cement shoed 1b. The pitching should be expected to be a top 5~ rotation The Jays success or lack thereof this year will come down to what happens with the bats, or catastrophic pitching injury.
  20. Certain players ... for sure impact jersey sales in a big way. Ohtani jerseys for the Dodgers couldn't be made fast enough to sell the first few weeks after his signing. He set the record for most jersey sales in a 48 hour period at Fanatics, the previous record being held by Lionel Messi.
  21. This happens in every FO. Trades or signings are far more the results of many many conversations vs a "hey what about that guy?" scenario.
  22. Because "people"

Or...learn to control his temper and channel it into something positive. Instead, he's going to leave his team shorthanded for however many games. Who do the Leafs even have that can step in and play D at the NHL level in the system? And I know, i know. I played hockey too and had my share of becoming unhinged in the moment. It happens. It's understandable that the emotions run wild, but it doesn't excuse the response.
  24. the 12 innings he pitched last season before being DFA really supports your declaration well.
  25. He's only doing what his clients tell him to do. If they wanted to sign earlier they would have.
