  1. We need to remember that Teoscar is projected to make 14.1 million this season. How much surplus value is even there? We can spend the money better elsewhere in my opinion.
  2. I think we needed to trade Teo. His nonchalant attitude in the field and on the bases was getting so much worse and had to be an issue with his teammates. Four years of Swanson is a decent return for Teo if the FO believes he can be a key piece. Adam Macko is Slovakian, which you don't see every day. He must have an interesting backstory.
  3. Gabriel? I don't think he's even eligible.
  4. Tapia, Zimmer, and Griffin DFA'd. Zulueta, Horwitz, Barger, and Martinez added.
  5. Are 3 nominated for each position? I just thought Judge, Trout, and Rodriguez were more deserving in CF, for example.
  6. Kirk and Bo have strong cases. Vlad isn't as far back as some may think and he did lead in HR, R, and RBI. I'm mildly surprised the others were even nominated.
  7. While it's certainly a possibility, that's entirely speculation on your part. There is no hard evidence that other teams were or are cheating to the same extent.
  8. I think Pablo Lopez is another guy you could look into, as the Marlins need a catcher just as badly. He has the same control and similar production to Jansen.
  9. Anyone who watches the Blue Jays knows who these players are. Teoscar Hernandez consistently makes mental mistakes in the field and often doesn't run the bases hard, for example. We've seen the same thing from Guerrero Jr at times. You don't have to 'blow up the team'. I never suggested that. You guys think I'm talking about making smoothies in the dugout or something when that isn't it at all. Having fun isn't a problem in my view. Players need to be locked in and giving a full effort on the field. This team is very, very bad at it and it doesn't seem to get addressed. A player like Josh Donaldson (not him) is needed to demand a full effort from his teammates. The leadership void left by Marcus Semien was never filled and it was extremely evident.
  10. I'm not concerned with the outward appearance of what goes on in the clubhouse. I'm concerned with effort and engagement on the field and how he deals with that behind the scenes when there is a problem. John Gibbons was fun loving and open to celebrations too. I'm ok with that. Some small improvements appear to have been made during his short tenure, but I think that change has to be made by the GM. Many of these players clearly aren't serious about winning a championship and they have to go. A manager can't change them.
  11. Definitely. The team needs a serious change in the clubhouse, but he wasn't given the opportunity to make that change. I thought he made the most of the time he did have.
  12. Yes, sign and trade.
  13. I'm not making a big argument for Pederson. We just need a lefty outfielder that can bring a bit of fire to the clubhouse. There are several players out there that fit that profile.
  14. This is just my opinion, but Pederson always appears locked in on the field and is very competitive. He's focused on defense and he always gives a full effort while running the bases. He's ruffled some feathers by demanding that same effort from his teammates, but I think we need a bit of that. I should make clear that I wasn't referring to his personality off the field. Maybe competitive would have been a better word choice.
  15. More than anything, this team needs an attitude change. The talent to win a World Series is all there, but players crumbled and made stupid mistakes when faced with the pressure of the postseason. I think one or both of Gurriel or Hernandez need to go in favour of a more serious and experienced player like Joc Pederson. I think the rotation is fine if we keep Stripling or make a similar addition. I believe that Kikuchi can be fixed with an offseason in the pitching lab and that White will be valuable next year. Rotation depth didn't cost us anything this year. Manoah and Gausman failed us in the playoffs, but we have them for the long haul for better or for worse. Adding another pitcher better than those two isn't realistic and there are better places to pur our resources than into the back of the rotation.
  16. I don't really believe anything about them. It's just a fact that's made obvious by statistics. Things like clutchness are not repeatable skills. This isn't really a discussion about Seattle and I'm not about to go down that road again. This is a discussion about the Blue Jays.
  17. Our ace pitchers failed to execute against what, by playoff standards, was a very very bad lineup. Our league best offense failed to score enough against what was very hittable pitching. Those two areas arguably could not and should not have been addressed in any significant way at the deadline. The problems go far deeper than getting whatever reliever was available. If you can't beat Seattle in the playoffs than you can't beat any team, let alone compete with Houston or New York.
  18. I would not fire Atkins or even Schneider for that matter, but serious changes need to be made to the team's leadership group. Atkins has done a great job of collecting talent, but it's blatantly obvious that many of these players simply don't care about winning. The effort level and lack of focus was vomit inducing. For me, Atkins gets a chance to identify and rid the team of these problem players and to add the correct pieces to shake up the clubhouse. If he rolls back the same group and this happens again then I'm on board with firing him.
  19. These two games have been, without question, the worst performances in franchise history. Mistakes in all aspects of the game. No focus, no preparation, and no compete level. I was ashamed to even be wearing my jersey by the end of the game. It will be the last time I waste money on tickets for a while. I've been a big proponent of being patient over the past few years but BIG changes have to come this offseason. Players who don't care about winning, and there are clearly a lot of them, have to be moved out in favour of guys who are fully committed to winning. It may not be cheap or popular, but we will never achieve success with this group. I've never witnessed a team in any sport put on a performance as bad as I saw the last 2 nights. It was disgusting.
  20. It would be dishonest to say that this isn't one of the most embarrassing efforts in Blue Jays franchise history in all 3 aspects of the game. Horrendous pitching, embarrassing offense, and bad defense from Chapman of all people. I'm embarrassed to be present at the game.
  21. If Manoah can't throw strikes to a minor league calibre bottom of the lineup then there should be another pitcher in this game. The bullpen is fresh.
  22. Where's the baserunning thing coming from? He's a bone head out there too, but I called him a terrible left fielder before the season and you absolutely freaked out in a multi post tirade. He is a bad left fielder and you were wrong, what a shocker. Do you have anything in your playbook other than hyperbole and lies?
  23. Nobody claimed these things. You're taking these innocuous, uncontroversial statements and using hyperbole to blow them out of proportion. Haggerty isn't unique, but they don't have a pinch hitter, runner, or fielder of the same quality to add to the roster, let alone a player with all 3 of those qualities. Trammell can field fairly well, but is a below average runner and awful hitter. Games are closer in the playoffs and benches are used more often than in the regular season. The loss of a key bench piece that fills multiple roles is more likely to hurt them now than it would have in April. To what degree I'll leave that for others to decide. Note that none of this is even remotely untrue or controversial, but your response will contend that I claimed he's a 9 WAR player or something. There was really no reason to even discuss this beyond 'oh hey, a good player was hurt and now the Blue Jay's have a better chance of winning'.
  24. The team's actions make it kind of clear that they don't like Biggio's outfield defense, but I see a guy who is at least as good as Tapia in that regard, if not better.
