  1. Very disappointing outing from the veteran Bassitt. Going 6 innings in this kind of scenario is exactly what he gets paid to do and he dropped the ball.
  2. Orioles reporter Roch Kubatko going to be on Blair & Barker shortly. If I recall correctly, he's the guy that went on one of the most epic rants/meltdowns I have ever seen from a reporter, regarding Adam Loewen. He promised that if Loewen ever hit a home run, he would run naked around Camden yards. He did, but the guy never followed through. Anyone else remember that?
  3. Does anyone have a voice in the back of their heads every time there's an inexplicable call, saying that it's possibly due to gambling? If there are players in on it, there are officials in on it. Not so much in baseball with reviews, but definitely in basketball and hockey where the calls are more subjective. Heck, we saw that in the NBA before gambling took off. This year's Stanley Cup finals, for example, was some of the most one-sided officiating we've ever seen in that sport. Over 50% of the commercials are for sports betting, as well as prop bet updates from the broadcasters and banner ads all over. I'm not making accusations or anything, but it just kind of ruins the perceived integrity of the game for me.
  4. I can't even watch sports with my friends anymore. They are on their phones, constantly checking other games and new betting options. I throw $50 at my dynasty league every year, but they're on a whole other level and they don't even seem to care who wins. It's ruined the joy of sports for them in my view. Everyone says they win, but I can't imagine that a couple of the guys aren't out a couple grand.
  5. I'd like to see us target Raisel Iglesias. The combination of high salary and poor ERA should make him somewhat cheaper, but he's still getting punchouts and throwing 95.
  6. I couldn't agree more, well said.
  7. What a f***ing twit this guy is. I referenced statcast in the first f***ing post and get a string of holier than thou novels about how I don't know where to find it? Is he always so insufferable? Definitely block list material.
  8. I know where the statcast range numbers are. I referenced them it in the very first post directed at Gruber, which you quoted and didn't read. You're misunderstanding something here. We said the same thing, we agree. This doesn't need to be an argument, so let's just move on to discussing baseball instead of semantics. If you keep going then I'll just block you because I don't have time for this kind of stuff. Thank you for the discussion.
  9. Thanks for the info, but that's exactly what I referenced in the first post that you responded to. It's just called Statcast Fielding on Fangraphs, which is what I always use. Tangential arguments aside, my original post remains correct. Metrics, whatever you choose to call them, have his range as average or slightly below.
  10. After the blowback from sweeping Ohtani's gambling under the rug, I wouldn't be surprised if they come down hard on Clase, should the allegations be true.
  11. The comment in question was specifically about his range, which OAA does not evaluate independently.
  12. I thought this was a real trade for a moment and was thrilled. I think that's fair value
  13. Hoping that Morton gets dealt before tomorrow and we face 2 minor league fill-ins for the DH.
  14. I was reading Ichiro's HOF plaque and it's odd that they have him as the first position player born in Japan when that is definitely not true. Dave Roberts (born and raised in Japan to a Japanese mother) is one notable example, but there are several others. I get the sentiment, but they could have easily worded it differently to avoid such an obvious false statement.
  15. You would be incorrect. UZR and statcast have him very slightly below average, not close to being the worst. It's actually JP Crawford by a fairly significant amount.
  16. David Bednar, but if we also overpay for non-ace starter or a guy that doesn't fit at all like Suarez then I may have the grade lower than a B anyways.
  17. I like the McMahon add for the Yankees. He's a big upgrade for defensive reasons alone and that gives them a pretty solid floor. If they can unlock the bat then it's a big upgrade for pretty much only money, as they didn't really give up anything.
  18. If we must add a starter, it should be a cheap depth guy, so we can spend our prospects on relievers. We have 5 guys that are all doing well right now, so it would have to be a ace calibre guy to make any impact. Steven Matz would be a nice depth option that we could put in the 'pen for now.
  19. I feel good about this one with a rested bullpen and a favourable pitching matchup. It's essential to get another win in the books with Skubal going tomorrow.
  20. I don't think we need a project pitcher at this point. In the off-season, sure, but I think a reliever would be a better fit and make a bigger impact.
  21. He has used it, at least sometimes, since April.
  22. I know it isn't our biggest need, but I'm going after a bat for that price. A guy like Harrison Bader would be a nice bench piece.
