  1. Thanks for that buddy, but I've got thick skin. After years of seeing NJH post, there's a pretty clear pattern. When he's right it's good times and he makes sure to tell everyone. When he's wrong, any factual content disappears and the random insults start coming until the other person backs down. The worse the insults, the more desperate he is to cover up his insecurities. People here obviously admire that. Others that stick to facts are seen as trolls. People with his internet personality aren't respected socially or professionally in the real world so I hope that it's just a front. Lots of people come across differently on the internet, including each of us I'm sure.
  2. I've been asked directly once and referred by colleagues with PhDs on at least 2 occasions. It's not that uncommon when they are overseeing several projects and not directly involved in the work.
  3. You don't have much faith in the peer review process if you believe that biased research is that easy to publish in reputable journals. It's not perfect, but I take it seriously when asked to referee. I believe almost everyone else does too.
  4. I didn't get published in multiple scientific journals by being a dishonest researcher. Others that you ridicule have their own accomplishments. I enjoy pointing out the flaws in commonly held opinions and you never like that, but it doesn't mean that others are lying or have an inferior intellect.
  5. A thoughtful post is met with grammar nitpick and insult, but no effort is made to address the substance of the discussion. It's the problem with this forum that plays out over and over.
  6. I like having people like you around that are just hardcore fans and don't care as much about stats. I'm more on the stats side of things, but it makes for interesting conversation. I remember getting best poster a few times on the old forum when more people were on your side of the spectrum. Contrarian views supported by statistics were valued conversation starters and not reasons to ridicule someone. Sometimes what seems obvious isn't. That's why I'm in the sciences and it's why I love to uncover those things in baseball. I also like to see all of the different opinions on the grey areas. It opens up your eyes to new ways of thinking. Unfortunately, critical thinking and logic is met with sarcasm and memes, which don't really interest me. Hopefully we can get back to some good baseball discussion in the future.
  7. Don't you think that calling someone an ******* because they correct erroneous statrments is also an attack? I'm not going to be one of those people, but a lot of the baseball related things that you posted recently haven't been correct. Even facts have no place here at times though, so I empathize with your point of view to an extent. Being a contrarian and backing it up with irrefutable facts gets you attacked.
  8. Give this man an award.
  9. You do an excellent job at your chosen craft and deserve recognition.

  11. You don't know what our payroll will be. Most of the big ticket free agents and trade targets are still available.
  12. This statement puzzles me because I have seen it multiple times, but I won't argue semantics. It's safe to say he often has success 3 times through while relying heavily on his fastball.
  13. Another idiotic thread. Maybe we should start another called 'Travis or Goins'. Time for your first thread deletion Governator.
  14. So we have a total of 40.5 WAR (88.5 wins) with our 5 infielders, Pillar, Morales, the rotation, and the top 5 relievers. If we can add decent players at our 3 open positions and a couple of good relievers then we could definitely project for 95 wins. I wouldn't be comfortable predicting that, but it's nice to see.
  15. This is a playoff team if we get 2+ WAR from 1B and the corner outfield spots. Hopefully we can do that.
  16. We should pursue Granderson as well. He's make for a slightly better addition.
  17. I was freaking out every round that we passed on him, much to the chagrin of the other forum members. Then I was elated when we finally got him, only to be disappointed in the end. What a roller coaster ride.
  18. I think anyone would be happy with a big payout looking likely. That's why baseball is so much fun though. I don't regret making an intelligent bet over an emotional one. It's so hilarious that olerud still has his panties in a knot over an irrefutable statistic though. The hours that this guy has dedicated exclusively to trolling me over the years is mind boggling.
  19. It's sad when Boxy tries to make multiple jokes based on a false premise.
  20. I used it all up on Thanksgiving and didn't save any for the holidays of other countries.
  21. That deserves it's own thread! Maybe mods will get the point then.
  22. Evolution Day is a celebration to commemorate the anniversary of the initial publication of On the Origin of Species by Charles Darwin on 24 November 1859. I figured that irrelevant holiday threads belonged in the off-topic section, but apparently not. Happy Evolution Day to all of our scientifically literate members!
  23. You continuously post asinine threads in an effort to respond with stupid memes and get thanks. I hope you find the validation you need soon, king. The forum would be better for it.
  24. Our Thanksgiving is a separate holiday with separate origins that predate the American version. There's no reason to celebrate both. Delete this idiotic attention grabbing thread.
  25. Lol, I have no idea why I put that instead of 8.
