  1. Not going to miss Nikki Huffman's resting bitch face, but I really have no idea if she was good or bad. Hopefully the new trainer is successful, whoever that may be.
  2. I'm pretty confident that the infield will be a playoff calibre group for some time, but the outfield can't combine for 1.6 WAR again. We're stuck with Grichuk for better or for worse and Gurriel looks like a keeper, but bringing in a real CF should be a priority. I want no part of Hernandez, Alford, Fisher, McKinney, or Davis getting significant at-bats again.
  3. Very few big league players come out of independent ball but there would obviously be a big influx of talent. The team to capitalize on that would be in a very advantageous position. There is always a star or two in the latter half of the draft.
  4. It would be interesting to see the impact that a loss of several stars and a whole slew of role players would affect the talent pool of the league. Russ Martin and Jason Bay come to mind right away. This would really hurt Canadian players.
  5. It makes a lot of sense. Next year is the time to start filling weak spots with good players.
  6. If the FO believes that a player will be worth his salary then they will pay him. Some here are adamant that Drury will never play any better than he did this past season. That's a fair opinion. I believe that he can be a 0.5 WAR player or better and justify 2.5 mil. Maybe the FO believes the same and maybe they don't. It's up in the air.
  7. Pillar was consistently below average, while Drury was a good hitter to start and then became awful. Nowhere did I say that his entire track record was good. For 2.5 million we aren't going to find a much better bet on the FA market, if we do at all.
  8. I thought he looked good at shortstop when he played there but could be wrong. It's nice to have a guy who can fill in at short either way.
  9. I like that he can play all 4 infield positions well. He's cheap and relatively young with a history of being a good hitter so I feel that he can be better with some adjustments. We need a backup IF either way and with no internal options, I don't think we can do better than Drury for 2.5 mil. Like Law, he's the type of bounceback candidate that we'd be going after anyways.
  10. Give me Giles, Shoemaker, Law, and Drury. Try to bring back Tepera on a minor league deal. Law is the type of guy we will be targeting for cheap anyways. Lots of K's and grounders with good velo and a history of better command.
  11. It's hard to predict who is going to tear down, but I could see us giving up some prospect capital for younger arb guys that haven't quite found their niche. Maybe a Robbie Ray or Steven Matz type. I still think out FO is still looking for long term guys and not actually looking to compete next year.
  12. I'd prefer to see a game decided by good plays rather than bloop hits and errors, but baseball offers something for everyone. I'm glad you enjoyed it, but something like our WC game vs Baltimore is a much better way for a game to end in my opinion.
  13. I really don't care who wins this. It just sucks that it was such an awful game to watch.
  14. What a thoroughly disappointing and s***** game. Hopefully tomorrow is a little better.
  15. 2 innings left and Hader still available is not great news for the Nats.
  16. If they get 2 from Pomeranz then they probably go to Hader for the last 2.
  17. Woodruff pumping in 98. I wonder how far he goes.
  18. My bad, I must have misread the post.
  19. It's starting to look that way. A Brewers win would leave us with like 4 people by the looks of it.
  20. I think we might see 3 innings from Hader so even if they only get 4 from Woodruff, it's a decent position to be in. I'm really excited for the game.
  21. This forum certainly hates the Brewers. I like their chances against a bullpen with Daniel Hudson as it's best reliever.
  22. Hopefully we can get some real outfielders and let Biggio settle in as a full time 2B. I think he can be even better on both sides of the ball.
  23. Alford!!!! What a game!!
  24. This would actually not be a horrible spot to bunt if Grichuk could do it.
