  1. 1 walk and 19 K's in 14 innings with the Jays is pretty good.
  2. I'm not sure about a few years. I saw him pitch Independent League in Ottawa I think only 3 years ago. I was surprised to see a familiar name and he ended up with the Jays later in the year.
  3. I think we may have found something in Wilmer Font. He's looked awfully good as an opener.
  4. Has he? Smoak is posting career bests in a lot of categories. If he were at a normal BABIP then he would be having one of his finest seasons.
  5. The Sportsnet article seems to indicate that we had trade offers for Galvis and refused them because we weren't confident that Bichette could play shortstop. You have to figure that the offers were somewhere in the range of what we got for Daniel Hudson. Not amazing, but certainly worth taking. It just feels like they were unsure of what they had and didn't have a plan.
  6. We're down to 30 million in salary for next season plus arbitration for Giles, Drury, and Shoemaker (maybe Law, Maile, Tepera). All of these salary cutting moves will hopefully lead to us spending big on pitching. That means the Cole, Strasburg, Darvish, Wheeler, Pineda end of the pool and not the Buchholz, Richard, Jackson end.
  7. We should make a strong effort to resign Smoak in my opinion. He's walking at an astounding rate and striking out at career low levels. His exit velocity is also great, he's hitting the ball hard more than ever. There's very good reason to believe that he will be a beast at the plate next season and he certainly isn't blocking anyone. I'd like to see Atkins depart from his 'clean house at all costs regardless of value' approach and bring him back.
  8. Eric Pardinho is younger by a little bit but was held back by injury. A promotion to Dunedin is probably in order for him as wrll.
  9. I'm perplexed as to why a 1.4 WAR player on a 4 million salary and a good clubhouse guy could not be traded for anything.
  10. Options are weird. I think that a guy like Albert Pujols still has 3 options remaining.
  11. The popups would increase to an extent, but it's hard to say how much. The bigger concern would be tinkering too much with the swing that brought him to this point. I doubt it's as simple as just deciding to increase your launch angle. Besides, he's got a 151 wRC+ since the break so it may be best to just let him do his thing.
  12. The frustrating thing is that we get good pitchers and don't know what to do with them. Sanchez is still the same pitcher as 2016, but we failed to get it out of him. I hope that we have more success with our other young pitching.
  13. A full season of 107 wRC+ with average defense in LF/CF would probably be around 2.5 WAR.
  14. He's got a nice 172 wRC+ since the break, but his K% is still well over 30. He's going to have to do something about that.
  15. You can see in the splits that Spanky posted, he's striking out a bit more. You can't trust Buck sometimes, a lot of his 'stats' are just observational.
  16. He's shown a bit more power since returning in June, giving him a 113 wRC+ in that time, but the rest of the numbers haven't changed much. He's striking out more than ever and not walking much. He'll need to continue this hot streak and improve if he wants to secure regular at-bats next season.
  17. A quick google search seems to indicate that the name is French and/or German, from the Rhine region.
  18. That's acceptable, I have your information.
  19. Here is the optimal lineup using steamer projections, 4.861 runs per game: Smoak Guerrero Jr. Fisher Grichuk Bichette Gurriel Jr. Galvis McGuire Biggio Worst lineup at 4.510 runs per game: Galvis McGuire Gurriel Jr. Biggio Fisher Smoak Bichette Guerrero Jr. Grichuk
  20. I'm not really buying their fielding metrics with such a small sample. I agree that hr looks really solid out there.
  21. Did Buck just call our catcher Mark McGwire? Lol
  22. We're not really seeing a good enough angle to tell whether he was safe or out. I can't even tell if he was tagged before the elbow. I just hope that they had a better angle in New York because that was as inconclusive as you will ever see.
  23. I'm loving this aggressiveness.
