  1. New York just lifted their vaccine mandate.
  2. You just knew there would be multiple Krylian posts in here
  3. Berrios demoted to 5th starter...
  4. If you would rather do other things than watch baseball than that speaks to your own level of investment with the team more than any type of rule change. I often miss games due to family commitments so that's hardly any kind of criticism, but not wanting to watch the most thrilling part of a game is hardly a good reason to support this change. Go to bed and check the score in the morning if watching good baseball isn't a priority for you.
  5. Here's a couple in this article, along with some solid analysis demonstrating why the rule is detrimental to the game and the fan experience. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/the-runner-on-second-in-extras-rule-has-worn-out-its-welcome/
  6. We've seen vocally unvaccinated players from last year get the shots over the winter so I wouldn't write off Conforto just yet.
  7. I think we can draw a line between preventing violent injuries and making arbitrary changes to fundamental rules for no apparent benefit or reason. Those changes had broad support in my experience with other fans. You have the odd guy trolling here like BTS, but you'd be hard pressed to find a handful of avid and knowledgable fans that support this change and the polls show it. You're only surprised by my attitude because your only argument in support of this is that 'fans think any change is bad'. People are capable of evaluating rule changes based on their own merits, or lack thereof in this case.
  8. I would do it too. If he provides even 2 extra WAR at this point on the win curve then he's completely worth it.
  9. It's a baseball forum where people voice their opinions. We're altering the fundamental rules of the game for no discernable benefit and the vast majority of paying customers do not support it. That's been shoen jn numerous polls. The fact that you have no care or respect for the game doesn't make yours the only valid opinion. Switching to 3 balls and two strikes for a walk and a strikeout, respectively, would be good for players and broadcasters as well. They could all be paid the same to do less work, which is the stated goal of this change. You're making a truly asinine argument with no basis in fact. Do I like strategy in games? Yes. Do I like watching managers have to manage their bullpens? Yes. Do I like seeing position players pitch in extreme circumstances? Yes, it's actually exciting. The Chris Davis game is one of the best I have watched. Every avid baseball fan on this forum remembers it. That's hardly exclusive to extra innings even if you don't like it. I'm not against change in baseball like some are suggesting, but you can only go so far before it's not baseball any more. The need to get on base to score a run is perhaps the must fundamental aspect of the entire game and we are throwing that rule in the trash, enraging almost all fans.
  10. Tough call. I think last year's trio will have higher WAR, but it also means Biggio at 3B.
  11. The Mariners and Padres have a new player development facility that they partially share, which was worth 7.7 million. It shows how truly advanced our 100 million dollar facility is. Way to go Shapiro!
  12. They said that last year too. If they don't have the slightest bit of respect for the game of baseball or the players who have played it for over a century then it's naive to expect them to start next year. It's truly shameful, the worst black mark on the game since 1994 or perhaps even earlier.
  13. I can assure you that my opinion on extra inning gimmicks is completely genuine. Don't respond if you don't care about baseball. I don't care.
  14. f*** you. This is not an acceptable opinion.
  15. This is disgusting. A truly dark day for baseball.
  16. Regular .750 OPS and solid defense Grichuk will do just fine in my opinion.
  17. What night is the 1992 number jacket? That sounds amazing.
  18. I'd love to see this Jordan Montgonery in the regular season.
  19. Your posts make absolutely no sense, but are strangely entertaining.
  20. There comes a point where splits become too small of a sample size to be useful. We led the league in OPS vs RHP, so I don't think the L/R balance is the primary factor here.
  21. Fair point, not very far.
  22. Mostly the Celtics and a more recent appreciation of the Spurs. A lot of the NBA's older fans admire Gregg Popovich in my experience.
  23. Part of it has got to be the marketing as well. My grandfather is a former sports reporter and loves baseball like a lot of older Canadians, but he also loves basketball. I think he would support the Raptors, but he's put off by the association with gangster culture, the music between segments, etc. Players have never stopped in for autograph sessions or special events like Blue Jays have. He gets NBA League Pass and watches other teams instead. The Raptors are targeting a very specific kind of Canadian that you outlined above and have made little to no effort to reach out to anyone else. I think a lot of the blame for their lack of national appeal is their own fault. Good for the Blue Jays.
  24. That's got to be at least somewhat by design. The Raptors really went for the local audience with the marketing about 'the six' and locally themed jerseys. They also really focused on fans of rap and hip hop with the Drake association. That was never going to attract fans outside of major urban centres. They tried to branch out with 'We the North' but it ended up being a point of humour in the rest of the nation since it comes from the Southernmost part of Canada. The Jays have always leaned into the 'Canada's team' angle and I think it's really paying off. We hate stuff like the maple leaf hats and whatnot, but I see them everywhere. Here in Northern Ontario I see at least 20 items of Jays apparel for each Raptors one and it's similar in the prairies. The sold out Mariners games are a stunning example of the team"s national appeal. You hardly see anything from the team about the city of Toronto itself. It's less relevant to the team's success than any other pro sports team I can think of.
  25. People who think the Raptors are a big deal in this country will not be prepared for what will happen if the Jays win a World Series. It will be a nationwide celebration.
