Do you think teams only advise Tommy John rehab or do you think they have the a team of dedicated professionals overseeing the process? I haven’t once said the team has authority to do anything. Those are your words not mine. But if your first round pick comes to camp fat do you allocate 100% of the blame on the 18 year old high schooler or does some of the blame fall on the major league team with nutritionists, physios, s&c coaches, biomechanic nerds, etc?

A) I wouldn’t recommend athletes living on salad the professional baseball organization should be sophisticated enough to send him home with step by step instructions for the offseason and check in bi weekly to ensure adherence. It’s really not that difficult

So the Jays are unhappy with Barriera’s weight, but aren’t they giving him exactly what they want him to do in the offseason? If so it’s their responsibility to keep tabs on him during the offseason. If not it’s their fault he’s fat. I mean he’s their first round pick ffs he’s not an 18th rounder that showed up fat

I’ll give them this offseason to make the change. The three fatties all had varying degrees of success up until this point. Then they all bottomed out. Let’s see if they can find the common denominator

I’m sure the “factory” has all the hardware necessary but I do question the people in charge of the R&D side of it. No idea who that is or what their label is, but we should be closer to the top in terms of developing players with the investments made and the focus put on it.

1: I bet they settle around 20M for next year. Jays won’t want bad blood if they decide to talk extension or in FA. Vlad’s camp will try and get out of the teens and into the 20’s heading into this last arb year in ‘24. 2: 30%. 60% chance he’s much better, 10% he’s worse. 3: 0%

Agreed. I’m tired of watching him gasp for air on the mound getting shelled. We’re pretty much guaranteed to get a shiny new toy and I can’t wait to see who it is!
