  1. Signing with an MLB team is objectively better for a player's development than not signing. I think it's common sense and requires no proof. Rather, the onus of proof would be on the person asserting that not signing has no impact on development. I don't think aggregate data on development times is available anywhere.
  2. He's like a taller Drew Storen. It's mostly about the breaking ball, I think (double plus?). But one of the Youtube videos has him up to 96 and there might be a sliver of projection left in his body too.

  4. Jackson has been bad this year and has had major BB issues in the SEC. 99 walks in 156 career innings. Not that it matters much. I'm sure most of what you really care about with a college reliever would be velocity, spin rate, whiff rate. You can teach a guy to throw more strikes.
  5. And unsigned HS guys have to wait three years to be drafted again, so by your own math... Not to mention, sometimes the reasons a guy doesn't sign are medical or mental
  6. He's never dominated any level. That would have been a "when pigs fly" requirement.
  7. Which major-leaguer, current or former, would you compare your game to the most? "I would say, as a hitter, probably Josh Donaldson. He's really aggressive, swings as hard as he can. That's one of my goals every time I'm hitting, to let it loose. As a defender, someone like Troy Tulowitzki. He plays through-balls all the time, I do that quite a bit. I'd say those two guys." - Bichette, before the draft. What are your expectations heading into the draft? Which teams have shown specific interest in you? "I have high hopes. Hopefully it'll be a good night. There are a few teams-- the Rockies, the Blue Jays and Red Sox really like me. There are obviously more, but those are who I thought of."
  8. From the video he's only nominally a MIF though. He seems fat and slow. Maybe his hands are sweet and the body doesn't matter much. Power also comes with a goofy load and he can't even seem to hit high school fastballs inside. My uninformed prediction is that he's an org guy 3B/LF
  9. just you http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/40395496/v691037183/2016-mlb-draft-day-2
  10. I like the Zoik pick. I really like his age for a college guy. He seems like a pick that is both safe and projectable, which is awesome. Woodman lead the SEC in dingers so I'll defer to the scouts and just assume the public reports saying that he has no plus tools are wrong. Bichette looks terrible on video. Bad body, bad face, bad swing. I don't really get that pick buttttttt I only watched one 90 second video so.
  11. Damn, just realized how good Willy Adames has been this year. I might have drafted someone good for once!
  12. I would just leave him in Buff for now, let him get really, really hungry. Maybe Saunders will blow out his knee in a month. Pompey seems to be sooooo damn streaky.
  13. yeah but some of you were (are) idiots
  14. This is pretty bananas at this point. The reasonable opinion on Sanchez in the offseason was probably something like: If nothing changes he can't start. If there is a minor skill change then maybe he is a backend guy. He would need a major skill change to be anything more than a #4 SP. And now we are talking about a guy who is third in the AL in fWAR - basically in the Cy Young race.
  15. Dinger is right that the rules said our draft starts "immediately" after the end of the normal draft. This is why people are free to make their selections starting on Saturday... but clocks aren't starting until Monday and cuts aren't due until Sunday at 11:59pm
  16. Hopefully he goes to Colorado and has the saddest career ever
  17. Email I sent already should contain the draft date and cut deadline this year.
  18. Thehurl's team actually seems really good on e-paper, lol. How can you own Jose Fernandez and Noah Syndergaard and Springer/Hosmer, and even some of those other guys, and be like 18th out of 20? lol lol? lol L.O.L. lawl
  19. Anybody selling a big fish out there? I'm thinking about packaging Sean Manaea + Trea Turner for a largemouth bass. Both can reasonably be promoted by a rebuilding team, so they won't clog up the farm. Package could also include someone like Jose Reyes, Francisco Liriano, Jonathan Villar, Kyle Hendricks, Drew Pomeranz, Raisel Iglesias... well anybody really.
  20. Reminder! Our draft is soon! Cut down deadline will be Sunday June 12th at midnight. Draft clocks will officially begin on Monday June 13th at 9 am. People can start recording picks as soon as the real life draft is over if they want. Please post your cutdowns somewhere public (message board, Yahoo thread, or ProBoards). That way someone can notice and process them. There are like 12 people who can process spreadsheet stuff these days so no need to email them to me and I probably won't notice quickly anyway. You have to cut down to 12 picks+prospects at the deadline. If you don't, any surplus draft picks will disappear. Extra picks don't stick around after the cutdown to give you a chance to trade them, so get trading NOW (*cough* Gibbers...). Lots of s***** prospects are owned in this dum league so get cutting now too. 12 hour windows with no timeouts overnight, as per usual. Please email the guy after you. You can trade MiLB assets during the draft, as usual, but the trades have to be even on both sides in terms of # of minor league assets (unless one of the owners has less than 12 minor league assets for some reason.) Trading while you are on the clock is illegal unless it occurs at the very beginning of your clock (first 15 minutes). Check the ProBoards rules if you are unsure about anything. I think that's it.
  21. Yeah I guess Sunday or Monday. Let's start clocks on the Monday but people are free to pick as soon as the draft ends on the Sat/Sun or whatever.
