  1. Tanaka has a Platelet Rich Plasma Injection and two months of rest near the end of a season after a partially torn UCL - David Price's issue appears to be much less serious. It's likely inflammation/swelling but no tear of the UCL; no structural damage. Of course the way the elbow is constructed isn't all about the ligament. No UCL damage does not mean the player is out of the woods. Lots of players have inflammation, or a forearm strain, and that is a precursor to near elbow death.
  2. So the end will be slow and painful, I suppose.
  3. Factoid about arbitration contracts, guarantee
  4. Pillar has a good head on his shoulders. Yet another reason why I see a BREAKOUT YEAR coming up for the kid.
  5. I went to several games during Lawrie's tenure and consistently heard negative things from surrounding fans. Lots of people would tell their non-baseball-fan friend that "this guy is a huge douche, I can't stand him" and stuff like that. I don't think he would drive any ticket sales at all, lol.
  6. Right, and without a spring PA. But they also just agreed to the $3.5M arbitration contract with him this offseason so as recently as a few months ago they kind of liked him. Maybe it's injury related. Maybe they've seen Moncada, Saladino (others) this spring and reevaluated and decided to eat a sunk cost? Remove a barrier in between Moncada and the throne, give Saladino a chance to start. Kind of weird! Either way, seems like a good time to have just dumped him on Cyborg in the LoD.
  7. Brett Lawrie is a clubhouse cancer - not the type of player you want on your bench, guys. Some rebuilding team like San Diego should absolutely own him though. Fantastic post-post-post hype breakout candidate. He's 27, is a league average hitter (career) with 20 HR power and some speed and defensive skill. I'll never understand why he was moved off third base. He was a phenomenal defensive player at the position. *extremely Grant77 voice* UZR doesn't agree, but we all saw him here consistently and the eye-test was pretty clear.
  8. someone gets it
  9. Martin Perez, AJ Griffin, Tyson Ross, Nick Martinez, Chi-Chi Poozalez, Yohander Mendez. Griffin, Martinez, and Chi-Chi are awful. Ross is who knows. Perez is pretty gross but he's a big league SP. YOHANDER is the name to watch.
  10. Dalton Pompey is THE biggest reason to watch the WBC. That article says he weighs 210 now - holy moly.
  11. ZiPS has been trash in the last couple of years, apparently (worse than Marcel!!!!!). Steamer seems to be performing well but maybe there's some recency bias in preferring anything. A few years ago I think ZiPS was performing slightly better than Steamer. Depth Charts is just the midpoint between Steamer + ZiPS, with a playing time adjustment based on Fangraphs' depth charts. PERSONALLY right now I just use Steamer and then make any mental adjustments that I think I can justify, if I feel like it.
  12. Jesus, I could really use him reverting to 2015 form in the LoD. I wonder what kind of odds you could get on a bet that Shelby Miller will outperform Aaron Sanchez in 2017.
  13. Here are my actual bold predictions. Bold is defined as - something that most people will view as highly improbably, but I think has an actual chance of happening. 1. Francisco Liriano is the Blue Jays best starter by virtually all measurements. - This probably has a far higher chance of happening than most people realize. The talent gap between all Blue Jays starting pitchers is very narrow. You can basically throw one thin ERA projection around the best four names, and Happ isn't miles behind them. 2. The veteran setup men flounder but Danny Barnes and Chris Smith save the bullpen. 3. The Blue Jays rely on a Pearce-Pompey-Gurriel outfield for an extended period of time. 4. Dalton Pompey leads all Blue Jays OF in fWAR in 2017
  14. This is... far too bold.
  15. I'm the good type of humble-confident smart guy, obviously. I shouldn't have joked about you dying. Poor taste. I can admit when I was wrong / not funny. I still think it was kind of funny tbh but, y'know. Apparently not.
  16. BOLD prediction: Olerud363 literally dies this year and nobody on the board notices.
  17. Which moves do you disagree with? You're right that King would be a contentious successor. We'd have to league vote on it. Whereas I'd unilaterally let GD in because he's a good kid, North.
  18. Should we just switch GD and North on the owner tabs?
  19. I agree. I imagine most of the decisions occur in under 30 seconds anyway. 25 seconds can feel like a minute when you're just staring at some fat guy staring at some other fat guy holding a phone beside his face
  20. He still throws 100, even traditionally. I think he'll still be good - just not elite.
  21. Pete Abraham‏ @PeteAbe That David Price is headed to the combine to see Drs. Andrews and ElAttrache certainly suggests this is not a routine issue.
  22. Sale, Porcello, Pomeranz, Wright, Rodriguez 6th man probably Roenis Elias Pomeranz seems like a large injury risk
