  1. Well they would just have to qualify, right? It's not exactly hard to qualify. Just need to beat some teams like Germany and Madagascar in the Pan-who-gives-a-f*** games 2018.
  2. K f***in' P with a leadoff single. Don't mind him, hitting a ho-hum .474 this spring.
  3. Canada scored a goal!
  4. RIP in pieces 2017 Trevor May breakout.
  5. Well Correa just hit a curveball below the strikezone about 420 feet to RCF so
  6. he asked to leave? like, signalled for Vizquel to come get him?
  7. are you a security guard? bartender?
  8. Did this actually happen?
  9. Just leave it alone for 40 years!
  10. I don't really think the label matters. A lot of other sports with massive pro leagues see top players avoid their respective World Cup / World Championship / Olympics or whatever. Really, soccer seems to be the exception in that so many of their elite players embrace the World Cup. It's historical, I suppose. Golf was just in the Olympics for the first time in forever and it felt like no pro golfers gave a s***. The World Championship in hockey has pretty big participation issues. IIRC lots of basketball players avoid the Olympics. It's hard to manufacture these new institutional competitions and convince an entire sport to give a s*** about them.
  11. I love the WBC. It's annoying that Canada could be a top ~5 team but they field a garbage squad... but I still love the tournament. It's just fun.
  12. It's not exactly that the MLB contact has a stipulation, it's that the insurer of that contract for Toronto has said or otherwise has a policy saying that they will not insure his MLB contract if he is injured in the WBC.
  13. Chad Bettis has cancer. Good job releasing him at the worst moment of his life, TRM.
  14. Yeah it makes no sense for him to want to rehab before signing. A team that wants to sign him for his upside would be more than happy to give him ample recovery time, and staff support for his recovery. His injury is not the type that any team would care about - it's not like he will have to demonstrate that he's healthy in order to get an MLB contract. His statement that he'll take time off to get healthy before signing doesn't seem to make a lot of sense, unless his injury is significantly worse than is being let on. However, you're definitely wrong about the bolded statement. There are MLB teams with infield holes that Brett Lawrie could slide into and represent a projected improvement upon. Whether the teams are disinterested for reasons not related to talent is another matter.
  15. Wow maybe you should send him a nice tweet and tell him to pick his head up
  16. Malo has a cannon!
  17. lmao Ernie Whitt is awful awful awful at least Canada hasn't bunted yet.
  18. Jose Reyes has 2.5 throwing errors already lmao
  19. I suppose it doesn't matter who they chose to start. They need to get multiple innings out of Dempster and Albers anyway. The Cruz double seemed to rattle Dempster's cage.
  20. Good job Albers!
  21. I think so - if we're talking about starters. Ryan Kellogg is interesting so one of those two. Obviously some of the relievers are probably better for ~25 pitch spurts. Henderson, Molleken, Rowan Wick, Gagne even. I know I'd start even Andrew Albers over this version of Dempster.
