Okay, the rule is garbage. But everyone can agree that in spring training the games need to end really quickly in extras. What would a better rule be? What base states would be better? Should they manipulate the ball-strike count instead, or in addition?

Donaldson burns college coach for criticism When video circulated of Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson hitting a spring training home run and casually walking to the dugout, not all were impressed. Sean Allen, an assistant baseball coach at the University of Texas, decided to take to Twitter to chide the former MVP for his lack of hustle, Mike Axisa of CBS Sports reports. "This might be the worst video I have ever seen. So much disrespect to the game of baseball. Baseball gods will handle this," Allen said in a since-deleted Tweet. He was apparently unaware that Donaldson has not yet been cleared to run the bases. "(N)ot allowed to run right now Sean. Please only condemn your players to the Baseball Gods. I bet you love to give the bunt sign," Donaldson replied. For his part, Allen retracted his statement to Donaldson, saying, "glad to hear this. I stand corrected and apologize." Not a fan of small ball tactics, Donaldson will look to bring his home run prowess to big league camp during the weekend's games. He is still expected to be available for opening day.

DJLM remains impossible to evaluate. He was legitimately awful for three full years, then OK but it looked like all Coors, then awesome but it still seems like mostly Coors. The Drouin + Stamkos first line and first PP combo playing 20 minutes each per game is going to be fun. I'm not really sure why Tampa Bay has been so reserved with Drouin's development. Seems like they have jerked him around needlessly, when he could have just been given a top 6 role at the start of last year.

I know this blackout is f***ing ******** but I will say one thing - MLB.tv is pretty bad technically, and Sportsnet NOW is way better. I get frozen and dropped streams all the time with MLB.tv but never with NOW. You can also switch broadcasts to another Sportsnet channel in a blink, like hitting a button on the remote. #Shill #HailCorporate

Who is better - Jonathan Drouin or David Pastrnak? Keep in mind how much line support Pastrnak gets right now compared to Drouin.

It's more like 1/6 of the measurable skill is the result of the player. That's slightly different. There are still obviously better goalies, and value is distributed like skill at a position in any sport - it's just really hard to tell through all the noise who is good and who is average.

Close enough, but some guys like Bobrovsky, Anderson, and Dubnyk probably belong either in tier 2 or in tier 2.5

He played on a lockdown defensive team in STL, he switched teams within your sample, he's like 40th this year in SV% or something... SV% is like 2/3 team, 1/3 goalie. Guaranteed, gun to your head, there are like 15 goalies you would take over Elliot right now.
