  1. I don't agree entirely (with Jim). Derek Fisher's floor is worse than a 4th OF. For a fast and toolsy OF prospect he has not been a particularly good baserunner in his MLB career and he has only been a +5 OF per 150 games while playing mostly LF. Compare that to someone like Jake Marisnick, who does have a legit 4th OF floor, and Fisher is starting from a big deficit. I think he either hits enough to be a starter or a platoon outfielder, or he might not be a major leaguer. Of course the defense and/or baserunning could improve... but I think he'll live or die on the patience and power as carrying tools. I think his most likely outcome is a replacement level, zero WAR career.
  2. Not exactly the signing a team with a slight PR problem needs to be making
  3. There is no evidence that he will suck. That's not hyperbole. He doesn't have any red flags, injury aside. He has never thrown hard. You can cherry-pick sub-optimal things about every pitcher, it doesn't mean that those things are evidence that they will suck. He might suck, sure. Anything can happen. We could say that about any pitcher. He could get mildly hurt and suck, who knows.
  4. Wow it took you all day to find that information and copy/paste it verbatim from MLBTR. Also, those ERA estimator figures are all really, really f***ing good. And he throws various fastballs so the spin rate information is not informative. Typically pitchers want less spin on sinkers.
  5. Available: Luis Arraez (2B/3B/OF) Urshela (3B) Avisail Garcia (CF) Clint Frazier Posey Christian Walker Chris Bassitt Patrick Sandoval Will Harris Some of those guys are clear keepers, others are on or outside of my bubble, prices vary. Would love to give you a couple of pieces that fit your needs in exchange for one keeper player. Could probably be talked into dealing Victor Robles / Ramon Laureano / Mitch Haniger in the right deal due to my CF depth but not shopping any of them.
  6. This is Molly Knight. Nothing groundbreaking but a good summation:
  7. It should a little bit. A guy like EE, for example, or some RP additions, make more sense the higher a team is on the win curve
  8. So you’re worried that Ryu will suck? Okay. Funny, but okay. Zero evidence to support the idea that he’s not good.
  9. Not in this moment. If they are willing to give Ryu 4/80 coming off a 95 loss season, I would imagine they will spend in a very healthy/normal way once the team is very competitive. It's all good. I mean they've run a top 10 MLB payroll very recently and in the WS years they were at the top of the league. Payroll is really not a concern to me. Free Agent attraction is a separate, semi-related matter. Leave it to you to post something like this today though, lol.
  10. lmao You don't need to be Spiderman to sense the risks with Ryu. It's all right there on the open. He is a big injury risk, kind of in the same realm as Josh Johnson before he became a Blue Jay. Arguably the Dodgers have enough talented SP depth that risking money with Ryu just does not make sense for them in particular. They also aren't perfect. Friedman traded Yordan Alvarez for Josh Fields, right.
  11. Probably never really was. Seems like Toronto wanted to just signal to Boras/Ryu that they needed to piss or get off the pot.
  12. Too much, lol
  13. A much lower AAV but Bumgarner has tons of red flags and got 5/85 so Price would get decent money. Probably would get the Keuchel contract actually.
  14. Edwin has played on 4 teams since 2016. He gets it and would probably HOPE to be traded to a contender at the deadline. Shaw @ 3B and Vlad at DH is probably optimal for maximizing 2020 wins but they won't do it because Vlad's 3B development will take priority.
  15. 3B - Vlad 1B - Shaw DH - EE BN - Tellez/Drury AAA - Tellez/Drury I don't see the problem. Tellez and Drury both have options IIRC so nobody is being cut or banished. People will get hurt or suck and there will be playing time for all. If Tellez performs he can earn a platoon role - he should not be just gifted a starting gig.
  16. I think they both can fit. Some overlap is good. If Edwin’s age catches up to him he might be a platoon player anyway, and if Shaw doesn’t rebound he’s not a starter.
  17. I would imagine that the Jays like the positional flexibility and the control. I doubt there is a strongly set plan
  18. It’s all about connections and networks in lots of businesses. You must pump gas or teach or something like that?
  19. Toronto drafted Shane Farrell back in 2011 with one of their throwaway picks. Sometimes those things pay off down the road.
  20. I see you did not read the article. Mr. Benjamin Clemens starts with a hypothesis that free agency is different - the narrative in his first sentence. He then falsifies that narrative in numerous ways. The conclusion is that the narrative is not true. His last paragraph is a bit weird, sure. The comment is not sarcastic.
  21. It would be a perfect move. They have a hole in the 1B/DH department. It would please the casuals a little bit. It would show some gumption. It would almost certainly be just a one year deal at a palatable AAV but a team option would be cool too. The Veteran Presents could actually matter with the young positional core, maybe he could teach Vlad how to lift the f***ing ball a little bit and how to be fat but good.
  22. Wow, seems like he's moving. I don't see why the Dodgers would sacrifice their future to make a Lindor move. With Seager, Turner, Muncy, and Lux, they have a strongly projected infield already and good depth. Of the rumoured to be interested teams he would mean the most to the Reds. Lindor would be a 5+ win upgrade for them and it would significantly increase their playoff chances given their position on the win curve. I wonder if the Reds could make it happen without giving up Senzel. Jonathan India + Tyler Stephenson + some other good piece.
  23. It's all currency.
  24. To be fair to Ross, it seems like the Blue Jays might have been the first team to call nearly every free agent.
  25. The dissonance between these two statements gives me vertigo.
