  1. I guess if they have even roughly $1.5M it's enough to make a legit overture. Remember Ohtani's signing bonus was only like $2.3M...
  2. Wow, this guy looks like the Japanese Juan Soto.
  3. The Lowrie + Dom Smith thing is such a no-brainer that if it was that simple Toronto or some other team would have already pulled the trigger on it. The Mets must be asking for a non-trivial prospect to make it happen, or something like that. Lowrie isn't even necessarily dead money. He was worth 8.6 WAR in 2017+2018. It's not like he had a catastrophic injury in 2019 either, IIRC it was a knee sprain then a hamstring strain then a calf strain. It's very much within the realm of possibility for him to put up a couple WARs in 2020. He could just be a part-time 2B/DH.
  4. Darwin Barney - AAA Management Domingo German - AAAnger Management
  5. Looks like a top 10 reliever to me, possibly top 5. I would not take him over Josh Hader but there aren't many other obviously better relievers. In dynasty you might put younger guys like Edwin Diaz or Osuna above him, in redraft you probably take Kirby Yates and maybe Chapman over him... Anderson is similar to Ken Giles but I think Anderson has even more upside. This is all for leagues with saves and holds so not really considering closer security.
  6. Maybe "bad" isn't the ideal word. I would say that I guess he's avoiding absolute ruin and that's a good thing, but Robert's signing bonus was $26M so he has already avoided absolute ruin. He should be "absolute ruin proof" - unless the money is gone. He can already retire if he doesn't like baseball. Delaying free agency by even a year can have a gigantic impact.
  7. Any deal that has a prospect with star/superstar upside giving up a free agency year is prima facie a bad deal for the player and this one is no exception. This specific deal could swing either way, of course, but on the balance these extensions will work out in favour of the teams.
  8. The is becoming a meme at this point and it is hilarious to me. Quantity!!!
  9. Sounds like Josh Donaldson might end up with the Twins. That would be a weird uniform to see him in, eh chaps.
  10. Bob who?
  11. Didn’t notice one of these yet. If someone made one I must have them blocked. Let’s use this one either way.
  12. Right. No matter the system there is an arbitrary line somewhere. That’s what I dislike
  13. I'm not happy with the precedents anymore and honestly wish we never started. I know it began with Oscar Taveras and Jose Fernandez, who were more catastrophic losses. Not sure why I/we felt the need to compensate for the lesser guys. It's just so much simpler going forward to not do it at all. Tough luck to the owner whether it's death, retirement, injury, or the law. The vote is 6-4 right now so it could go either way.
  14. Rich Hill and Homer Bailey signed by the Twins. Hill's contract is only a $3M base but his incentives can bring it to $9.5M and he should get there if he can pitch half the year. That's just about a wrap for the SP market. A few interesting names left are Wood, Nova, McHugh, Walker, Nelson, Cashner, Vargas, old friend Aaron Sanchez. I guess interesting is a stretch for some of them. I wonder if Felix Hernandez or Matt Harvey will find a team or will be willing to go to AAA.
  15. Well I have quoted the decree by BTS. I am not sure about the order of discussions.
  16. Demotions are now sort of possible in our leagues now that we are in Fantrax. The threshold is simply that players cannot be MiLB keepers in the spring if they have at least 1000 PA or 50 (GS + half of relief appearances). But you can put a green flag player in your minors.
  17. Nothing wrong with a top 4 OF of Senzel, Winker, Aquino, Akiyama. A few big injury/failure risks there so I doubt anyone will end up blocked. Being said I would 110% sell Aquino if I was running the Reds. Sell sell sell sell sell sell sell. Kind of sucks for VanMeter to get squeezed like that, you'd think that a .455 wOBA in AAA would earn a guy some rope but I guess not in 2019/2020.
  18. Pick #55 in 2016 Cleveland picked Nolan Jones who is now a top 50 prospect. Cleveland didn't ask for anything for Atkins even though they would have been entitled under the CBA. That should have been a pink flag.
  19. Not sure if this post is supposed to be funny, but you ordered a wife off Slovenian Kijiji and then she just used you to get to America before predictably divorcing you and that is f***ing hilarious. Pure alpha move, dude.
  20. They really need to fix this in the next CBA. It's crazy that things like executives moving teams have anything to do with draft pick compensation, but he we are. f***ing Manfred.
  21. Larry Walker is going to make it, isn't he?
  22. I was asked about removing the compensation for player deaths (etc.) provisions. Seemed like a vote situation so I started a poll in Fantrax on it.
  23. Yeah we haven't decided how to track them on Fantrax yet. Still on the spreadsheet. Although we could probably just add a list to the Notes or Articles section.
