Homer had a surprisingly strong season though. Also, the opener could easily be much more effective than one or two of the traditional starters above the opener slot in the Blue Jays SP hierarchy. Yes, of course we'd all like a 1 and a 2 with more ultimate upside, like Zach Wheeler or Dallas Keuchel. Perhaps someone like Keuchel would come to Toronto on a reasonable deal. Maybe a grizzled veteran like Hamels or Rich Hill could be enticed to Toronto.

I think a player can only receive a QO once in their career now. So Ryu won't get one. Reminder - teams don't lose first round picks anymore for signing a QO player. There are three categories of potential pick loss, based on luxury tax history and whether the signing team receives revenue sharing. If the Blue Jays sign a QO player they would lose their second rounder + $500,000 from their international kidnapping / human-trafficking fund. Of course, it would still suck to lose a high 2nd round pick. Toronto has made some really nice picks recently in the late first, second, third rounds. Bo was 66th overall! Big Nate was almost a 2nd rounder!

Hard to say what it means though. Their higher payrolls were mostly due to trades and extensions. It's not like Toronto made a whole lot of big free agent signings. What does that reference mean to the 2020 offseason? It's not exactly clear. Thornton in AAA is supa dumb. At the worst, he's #6 on the SP depth chart and in the pen to start the year, getting bulk innings.

I think this happens sometimes when they roll the league over. They tend to fix it over the offseason.

Some important notes and rules: 1. Add your players. You can add anyone you own in Yahoo. Add your spreadsheet prospects to your MiLB roster. 2. You can trade now if you want but keep track of it yourselves if there are picks involved. We need to transfer the MiLB picks to Fantrax. 3. The 2020 waiver draft will be as normal. The spreadsheet will be used for those picks. We might change the waiver draft format for 2021. 4. No adds during the offseason. Same as always. 5. We will use same day add/drops. 6. You can use the Fantrax polling system if you want to table a vote. Wait a bit for everyone to get in there. 7. We are a free league for now. If we want to switch to paid for some reason, we will figure out the money. Boxy offered to front it and people can pay him back. 8. The NA slot in Yahoo is becoming a 13th slot on the MiLB roster during the season. Tweaks might be needed here to make it easy to see / enforce. But see the new "Constitution" or rules as written in Fantrax about this. 9. In the spring we cut to 20 MLB and 12 MiLB players as usual. 10. Draft order is now the 5 pick lottery with the rest being determined by regular season standings, with the exception that the league playoff champion picks 20th (last). 11. If anybody is not listed with commissioner access in Fantrax and would like it given to them, just ask and it's yours. 12. If anyone wants to take over as the primary commissioner please let me know. I would prefer to let someone else be the big cheese going forward if possible. 13. Make a political post in the league - Jail. 14. Threaten to quit the league - Jail. 15. Complain about the app - Jail. 16. Complain about Fantrax at all - Jail. 17. We need another owner. 18. Position eligibility rules are slightly more strict than Yahoo. If you have a specific player who would qualify for a position in Yahoo but doesn't in Fantrax, for 2020 only, we will manually fix it. Let us know in March.

He barely ever wins these leagues, despite the cores. I won the hockey league last season. It's not super hard to retool because of the shallow amount of keepers. It's very possible to pick up or acquire elite young players.

My auction keeper money league is drafting tonight and needs a last minute replacement owner. Auction is at 9 EST. It's a neat little league. The team you'd take over has Matthews, Taveras, Johnny G, two good goalies, and some other decent keepers (eight keepers). It's h2h points. The top half of the league plays for money. You throw in $100 and the roto champ (total points in the season) wins the cash. But it's h2h with playoffs so even the bottom half not in the money has incentive. It's a relegation system as far as top and bottom halves and the money are concerned - if you finish in the top half you qualify next season for the money loop and if you fail to finish in the top half in points you get relegated to the non-cash division. The custom points system basically just values good players, so it's very intuitive. Goals are worth more than apples, blocks and faceoffs won are positive events, etc. The auction budgets are also used for waiver claims and carry over year to year, which is another cool feature. So you can go all out in the auction and f*** up your future (Dinger did this in the hockey league and corresponding baseball league and then quit both). Most people do not spend anywhere close to their auction budget at auction. If anyone is interested let me know! The team you'd take over is in the money but you would not have to throw in $100 this season if you don't want. The team finished 5th last year. You could probably tweak your keepers if you want. The auction budget is middle of the pack. Nox is the guy who runs this league. Couple other board members are in it plus some of his huge f***ing nerd friends. There is an MLB coach in the league (his team sucks).

Okay, so we are definitely migrating. I think it makes sense all things considered and the league vote approved it anyway. I have not turned my mind to all of the tweaks. Our migration will look similar to the one proposed by BTS in BORED but it might not be exactly the same. At some point in the next couple of weeks I'll tweak our rules for Fantrax and share those. I'll also disclose all of the changes necessary under the move at that time. For now, please add all of your players currently owned in Yahoo and add all of your owned prospects to your Fantrax farm.
