  1. BOTH knees? Holy f***. That sucks for his career.
  2. Yeah 3B seems ugly. I'd probably trade for Seager. When you look at his career trends, 2018 and the first portion of 2019 kind of just look like a random blip. I dunno! BUT Shaw is weirding me out. He is surprisingly good at 3B per the metrics, despite visually not looking that athletic. He is also hitting the living piss out of the baseball right now despite the poor results and K rate. Like, 95th percentile in exit velo. wOBA = .262 xwOBA = .342 Seager's xwOBA is like .379 though and was .356 last year
  3. That's pretty much the definition of a negative value contract. If it's more expensive than the market rate for the wins the player will produce, it has negative value. Seager's team option for 2022 becomes a player's option if he is traded.
  4. Remember, the what he Mets paid for Stroman was unanimously considered ridiculously light. Don't trust any opinions that are fed to reporters.
  5. Holy f*** your IL is an entire dynasty team Domingo German Merrill Kelly Michael Kopech Michael Pineda Drew Smyly Noah Syndergaard Nick Anderson Jordan Hicks Gleyber Torres Austin Hays Andrew Benintendi Jay Bruce Yoenis Cespedes David Dahl Trey Mancini Giancarlo Stanton
  6. Knowing about it being able to execute against it are two different things. If there is a scouting opinion that he has trouble with a good FB, it's already out there. I mean if Keith Law is writing about it then other people think it too. But pumping a guy with plus fastballs up and in (or whatever the specific hole is) is easier said then done. Biggio is great at laying off things outside. He'll just take borderline fastballs all day and take his walks. It really is Biggio's one shortcoming though. He does not do damage on meatballs to the extent that most MLB hitters do. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/visuals/swing-take?playerId=624415
  7. I will be the Devil's (Keith Law's) advocate. I haven't looked at the numbers. "Hitting" MLB fastballs does not necessarily mean having a good wOBA against them. It falls miles short of an actual criticism of the player, but maybe Biggio's wOBA against fastballs as driven largely by patience or feasting on s***** sinkers. Okay, I will look up some stats. Biggio 2019 vs 4 seamers xBA .235 xwOBA .393 2019 vs sinkers xwOBA .412 2020 vs 4 seamers xwOBA .274 2020 vs sinkers xwOBA .504 Note that he is having a big problem with 4 seamers this season. In 2019 he didn't. He's seeing a bit more fastballs this year. Maybe he does have a 4 seam weakness that pitchers have not been able to exploit? We might see
  8. Who is selling any good, ~30 and under players? I need to push a few prospects together and upgrade a roster spot or two. I am loaded on the prospect front and willing to move many of them.
  9. Spanky you don't have to post about current events. Toronto traded for Taijuan Walker, your boy. You should be excited.
  10. It could be an IL player like Yennsy Diaz or Hector Perez.
  11. Yeah "top 30 prospect" does not mean they are good. It could really be anyone. A prospect around the 30 mark is basically interchangeable with the next 30 prospects.
  12. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/yandy-diaz-and-the-groundball-revolution/
  13. Anthony AAAAArlford
  14. I think they'd consider it. I mean, the Reds aren't dealing Bauer for anything less than a prospect like that. The might even want more.
  15. It's a very unpredictable trade market. They can QO Bauer and get compensation. Will teams be willing to give up premium assets this year for rentals, with so many teams in the playoffs? I dunno!
  16. Walker might be the best of the available SP that was certain to get traded. I don't mind Toronto jumping on him. They need competent SP reinforcements. The sexier guys like Lynn, Clevinger, and Bundy might very well not get dealt. I don't think it makes sense to go crazy and overpay for one of them just to have a slightly better chance of winning as the 8th seed.
  17. I thought he would be a likely target because the cost can't be high (4.94 FIP and a pending free agent) but there is some upside. I don't see any statistical indicators of immediate upside so it's more "lightning in a bottle" upside based on his pedigree. Apparently it's a PTBNL so we have to wait and see the cost. Hopefully just a lower upside prospect.
  18. Yeah I would have cut him loose. Guilty.
  19. We really are not out to ban people. Lately some people are essentially asking for it though.
  20. The message board rules have been expressed in paragraph form a few times over the years. We have organized them into a more specific list. Below the rules is some commentary - this is a bit of guidance on the justification for some of the rules and how they will be enforced. BOARD RULES 1. No personal attacks 2. No discriminatory comments or slurs 3. No doxxing other members 4. No spam 5. No solicitation 6. No blatantly political posts 7. The moderators have the right to edit or delete any post or topic, or ban any user, at their discretion and without warning 8. No public posting that is overtly critical of moderators, a moderator, or any moderation decision COMMENTARY 1. Some light ribbing is fine and can be fun. This message board has a long history of free speech and open criticism. It may be okay to call someone an idiot because their post about baseball is just horrible, or all of their posts are horrible. This rule is not a license to freely post whatever stupid opinion about baseball you might have. If you come here to defend sac bunts, you will get dragged and the moderators won't help you. When things get too venomous or too personal, the line will have been crossed. The moderators will be on watch for specific posters continuing to go at each other in different threads. Ongoing feuds between specific posters can derail threads and distract from worthwhile conversation. The key consideration is the intent of the post; posts that the moderators, in their sole discretion, interpret as targeted at another poster with malicious intent or with intent to incite negative reactions will be punishable. 2. Blatantly racist, sexist, bigoted, homophobic, etc. comments, language, or images will not be tolerated. When it comes to this rule, intent does not matter; even if you don't mean any harm the use of any slur is punishable. 3. If you post personal information about another poster without their permission you will be severely punished. 6. Posts about the intersection of politics and baseball are okay, even if they express a form of personal opinion. Baseball has a long political history. Posts or threads that are purely about political opinions with no relation to baseball are not okay - historically, these posts have lead to deep rifts between board members. The moderators will use their discretion to determine if a line of discussion has veered completely away from baseball. 7. You may or may not get a warning before deletion or punishment. The moderators can ban you or delete a post for any reason they see fit, even if there is no obvious violation of these rules; the rules are not intended to cover any and all possible transgressions. 8. Continuous public complaining about a moderator or moderation does two negative things: it hinders the independence and discretion the moderators need to perform their work and it hurts public perception of moderation on the message board. If a specific post is against the rules you can report the post - this is the preferred way of bringing something to the moderators' attention. The moderators do not owe the board an explanation for any decision to or to not discipline a poster or delete something. If you have a general comment to make to the moderators you can PM one of us - your feedback will be read and considered.
  21. Okay, well if the crowd is now going to say Anderson should have been pulled EARLIER then sure! I agree.
  22. Font is an annoying reliever. You look at his K/BB and think he should be at least a decent reliever. Stuff looks okay. But he has been getting rocked this year and his whole career. I think going to him is justifiable with a 3 run lead. They are trying to spread the work around a taxed pen. I cannot understand the justification for having him face Verdugo, though. Kind of just want Font gone to be honest.
  23. Almost every time, pulling a SP third time through the order is the right move. Charlie isn’t even making decisions like that though - it’s all coming from above. You guys are dummies.
  24. If a player gets put on waivers the other teams have 72 hours to submit a claim. They were confusing being DFA'd with being waived.
