    They need to figure something out Something isn't right with Ernie's 2B defense. The team's best defensive alignment probably has him at 3B. The backup infielder on the roster is the worst hitter in baseball and he can only play 2B and 1B (poorly, at that) Schneider could not hit at all, and can only cover 2B anyway Barger is hurt but even when he is back he can only cover 3B, so he just allows you to maybe play Okamoto at 1B sometimes AAA has McAdoo as a maybe 3B/1B option and Kasevich as a light hitting no power MIF option but both of these guys are likely nothingburgers and they have no MLB experience Any interesting AAA prospect is a corner outfielder (Schreck, mainly). The only interesting MIF prospect anywhere close to MLB is Nimmala They really need an option to emerge that can at least cover 2B or SS and provide MLB quality depth there. Nobody exists at the moment. Myles Straw is an athletic freak, he can probably play second base. Range for days.

Marlins stole 15 bases but got caught stealing 9 times MLB MVP Otto Lopez refused to get out Gausman was trying to bean dudes and then did bean a dude Yucky Perez hurt himself butt stretching too hard? lol John Schneider flipped the bullpen pecking order around just to make people panic

    + if BV is going to be something close to a 100 wRC+ hitter they could even get him 1B reps backup 1B is actually a problem on the roster right now. they appear to not want to slide Okamoto over there, ever, for some reason.

    Always a bummer to see Heineman back in there. Valenzuela is absolutely mogging him. BV has a 112 wRC+, plus defense, and somehow a positive BsR too. 1.1 fWAR in 105 PA is crazy. What a find. Spencer Miles and BV, Atkins pulled these chips out of nowhere. Pinango too.

    His pitches do grade well. Not elite, but sort of a Spencer Miles grade distribution where the FB, SL, Curve all rate above average. And the prospect guys (scouting types) are already saying he's in the next top 100 lists. Ideally you would like to see a bit more velo. No chance he pitches for Toronto this year, I think that's crazy. Maybe next year.

    Yordan is a monster but I would guess that Yesavage has more projected surplus/trade value. YA is under control for 2027 and 2028 at $26M a year. He is an injury risk, typically.

    Really interesting. Couple of ideas: 1. Defensive limitations push every lefty thrower (almost all lefty hitters) into OF/DH/1B (but this is not new) 2. The perpetual grind for that extra 2% (RIP Jonah Keri) leads more and more teams to platoon. Corner outfield spots are prime platoon spots because of defensive reasons and the availability of human capital. And because lefty hitters are the "strong side" of the platoon teams prioritize their development and try to keep them around because in theory the team can and will get more use/value out of them. BUT IF EVERY TEAM DOES #2 THEN AT THE LEAGUE LEVEL THERE WILL BE A SHORTAGE OF WELL-DEVELOPED RIGHT HANDED HITTING OUTFIELDERS!!!!!!!!!!!! Kind of hilarious Every team in baseball decided to ignore the fungible roster spot, that weak side platoon corner outfielder, and now none of them exist. Randal Grichuk will have work until he's 45.

    Pinango is 24 and has 727 pro games. He's not going to get appreciably better out there. Average left fielders do not miss two 95% catch probability chances in one game. No cap almost every able bodied member of this message board (all three of us) would make those catches. Dude is a legit liability. Can't be in the outfield.
