  1. Yeah it seems like there was a big gap between insider and outsider perceptions of Martin and SWR. The gap has been correcting over the last week as updated public prospect rankings and trade analysis articles have shown that Martin and SWR have slid down lists.
  2. Kevin Smith below some of those guys is yikes stuff. big time statistical out of touch. there is zero rational argument for having him any lower than say 13th. I can buy arguments for being below Kloff and Beltre just based on tools/pedigree/upside even if I would have him over Hoglund personally.
  3. Most of the time when you are feeling borderline euphoric about a specific prospect, it's a good time to cash in on them. This is not financial advice.

  5. Your guess is as good as anyone's. He only has to bounce back partially for that to be a really good trade though. It's one pitching prospect, what's the worst that could happen? lol

Some fancy stats say he sucked this year. Like, replacement level.
  7. He means $500 on the secondary market.

He seems to have the tools to be solid. Looks like he was productive in 19-20 and then bad last year. This is kind of how the NBA works because you control players for so few years... you need to bet millions on some of them developing. Raps did exactly that with Powell, actually.

I was shocked they got someone as interesting as Trent Jr. For Powell, who basically oscillated between an injury prone and overpaid sandbag and a very useful sixth or seventh man.
  10. He can go back to Vanderbilt for a year. Or he can leave college and play independent / unaffiliated baseball. But either way he's subject to the 2022 draft, I think.
  11. 6 AM Tanaka vs Shane Baz in the Olympics
  12. Right, he's a solid SP2. But it doesn't matter like the above posters say. Toronto is good. They basically have three #2 starters in Ryu, Berrios, and Ray. Then a rookie who could be that good in Manoah and a pair of veterans in Matz and Stripling who are probably better than 5th starters. It's a good group.
  13. IMO there are two ways to be an "Ace". 1 is to be able to produce truly elite seasons, 7 WAR+, and to stay moderately healthy so you do that from time to time. 2 is the workhorse model where the guy just banks like 4+ WAR every year consistently. I'm thinking David Price in his 20s. Berrios doesn't fit either model. He's like the workhorse version but just a hair shy on talent.
  14. Maybe not Minor but Wheeler certainly is. Look at that guy's numbers right now. Hard to compare Ryu to Berrios because of the leagues they were in. Pitching a lot of innings is also part of being great and that's a weakness for Ryu.
  15. I'm not 100% sure Meadows is even better than O'Neill. Look at Tyler's xwOBA! Just try to dump a bunch of your Jays prospects for a real Ace
  16. Stroman would not have even been under control for this season IIRC.
  17. lol. Well depending on the league SWR might be worth close to nothing.
  18. Yeah it's a different market. The people who listened to Bob were traditional media consumers, not the type of people who listen to podcasts. There wasn't much overlap.
  19. No, I think at this point we have to want Rays to win. Those two teams are essentially tied and the Red Sox are more likely to like lose six in a row or something and fall back quickly

If true, may have had more to do with attitude than the actual results
