  1. Not necessarily. She could be alleging sexual assault in an attempt to extort him, Jim. It remains quite possible that Bauer and her in fact only engaged in acts that both consented to, and none of those acts amount to sexual assault in California.
  2. Toronto gets: Bryant, Hendricks, Kimbrel, and Rizzo. Chicago gets: Biggio, Grichuk, Will Robertson and Adam Kloffenstein. Money would move around in some way. Chicago to Toronto for this year probably. The two prospects don't have a lot of value but help Chicago sell the deal to fans. Grichuk for Hendricks + Kimbrel is kind of a bad contracts swap and lets Toronto's position player roster work better. Biggio is the meat of the deal for Chicago and is a controllable, cheap player with upside. Hendricks+Kimbrel makes it not a pure win-now move for Toronto. Rizzo and Bryant make the offense absolutely unbelievable for the 2021 push. I know Chicago laughs Atkins off the phone if he actually proposes this unless they are stupid in love with Biggio.
  3. The more damning part of the story is her attitude. As evidenced by the messages to the friend. the alleged victim told the friend she allegedly had a past sexual relationship with San Diego Padres star Fernando Tatis, Jr., saying she "cant believe I achieved that," The woman went on to send the friend screenshots of Instagram DMs allegedly exchanged between herself and Bauer, noting that she was "going to his house" that week and "already [has] her hooks in," adding, "you know how I roll." The woman told the friend she was "literally going to get in his head"… "and find pine tar." She added, "trust me I know what I'm doing." The messages show the woman then responded to an Instagram Story posted by the friend showing a meme of Tatis mocking Bauer's one-eyed pitching earlier this year, writing, "Ur welcome for getting in bauers head," with the money-tongue emoji. This message was dated April 24, which would have been after the first alleged violent sexual encounter the woman said she had with Bauer. In the exchange, the woman appeared to grow agitated that the friend would not message about the case. The woman referred to PPD as "those corrupt f--kers" and said cops had interrogated her about "setting this up" and how she "joked about his amount of money and how I wanted to be a baseball wife." It seems like she was f***ing with Bauer on purpose? Like there was some form of premeditation going on. It also seems like her main goal might have been money or some form of entrapment and this legal stuff is... revenge? Because he didn't want any more to do with her? Just bizarre. None of this looks good for her, that's for sure.
  4. 1. Pittsburgh Pirates: Marcelo Mayer, SS, Eastlake (CA) HS 2. Texas Rangers: Kumar Rocker, RHP, Vanderbilt 3. Detroit Tigers: Jack Leiter, RHP, Vanderbilt 4. Boston Red Sox: Henry Davis, C, Louisville 5. Baltimore Orioles: Kahlil Watson, SS, Wake Forest (N.C.) HS 6. Arizona Diamondbacks: Jordan Lawlar, SS, Jesuit College Prep of Dallas 7. Kansas City Royals: Brady House, SS, Winder-Barrow (GA) HS 8. Colorado Rockies: Benny Montgomery, OF, Red Land (PA) HS 9. Los Angeles Angels: Will Taylor, OF, Dutch Fork (S.C.) HS 10. New York Mets: Matt McLain, SS, UCLA 11. Washington Nationals: Jackson Jobe, RHP, Heritage Hall (OK) HS 12. Seattle Mariners: Colton Cowser, OF, Sam Houston State 13. Philadelphia Phillies: Ty Madden, RHP, Texas 14. San Francisco Giants: Sal Frelick, OF, Boston College 15. Milwaukee Brewers: Harry Ford, C, North Cobb (GA) HS 16. Miami Marlins: Bubba Chandler, RHP/SS/QB, North Oconee (GA) HS 17. Cincinnati Reds: Joe Mack, C, Williamsville East (NY) HS 18. St. Louis Cardinals: Trey Sweeney, SS, Eastern Illinois 19. Toronto Blue Jays: Jay Allen, OF, John Carroll Catholic (FL) High The Blue Jays have been linked to Allen for a while now, having scouted him heavily during the state all-star tournament at the end of the spring. I’d heard them earlier on Florida senior Tommy Mace, but Mace wasn’t good later in the spring, and the Blue Jays don’t have a second-round pick (for signing George Springer) so going under slot here makes little sense; it’s far more likely they’d just go slot on someone like Tyler Black or Connor Norby than try to save some cash.
  5. Even if you think he's worth $16M he's still worth nothing in trade. I certainly don't think he's worth $16M though, because of demonstrated downside risk.
  6. Yeah, WAR is worth more in a playoff race (leveraged wins) but it's still not going to happen for Kris Bryant (who is on a projected pace of like 3.7 WAR). Note that I don't think Kimbrel is worth anything because of his poison pill 2022 vesting option, and Hendricks is also not worth much IMO given his contract. Manny Machado didn't even land a player as valuable as Biggio. I think they would consider trading Biggio if they are getting back a star that helps now and has some control.
  7. Biggio alone is worth more than than entire package. Not kidding
  8. It's also not even relevant because that's probably not the law in California. I kind of agree about Bauer's celebrity. Some people were complaining that the only reason he has not been charged is his status, but it could very well be the opposite for all we know, maybe the only reason the case is still open is his celebrity.
  9. This exact scenario was the subject of a Canadian Supreme Court case. The holding is that a person cannot consent to a sex act to be performed while they are unconscious. Basically, once the person becomes incapable of revoking consent at any time, their pre-consent is no longer valid. It's sexual assault, even if the woman literally said you can do X while I am passed out and all the man did was X. https://scc-csc.lexum.com/scc-csc/scc-csc/en/item/7942/index.do https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R_v_JA This case has been criticized. Fair to say it is controversial. Some people say it is bad law and actually limits the sexual autonomy of women. Three judges of the SCC dissented in the case.
  10. Cut him immediately as a political statement
  11. If anyone can listen to this Across Time and Space song start to finish, holy s*** you have ears of steel or whatever.
  12. Listen to the second one I posted there. So hilarious.
  13. I judge his specific perversion pretty harshly.
  14. * short-sighted and pathetic idiot who gets hard by smacking women around
  15. No, I now think he is a douchebag. That's confirmed.
  16. Meanwhile Yasiel Puig is just really annoying and nobody wants him. Also, Osuna is toxic because of a peace bond.
  17. Nah it would change things. Right now he has just been accused by a private individual. For all we know the accusations are frivolous and without merit. But if the State actually thinks there is a reasonable chance that he could be convicted of a crime based on the evidence then I think that alone changes things. And if he ends up being convicted of a crime that of course changes everything. The spectrum would read something like: - Accused by private individual but nothing happens = the lightest shade of grey; he probably should face no repercussions professionally - Accused by private individual and faces a civil action but successfully defends the lawsuit OR nothing is proven = light grey - Accused by private individual and faces a civil action and loses in some respect = darker grey - Accused and the State charges him criminally but he is not convicted = dark, dark grey because the state saw evidence they could reasonably convict him of a crime - Accused and the State charges him criminally and he is convicted = almost black; his MLB career should be over It will always be a shade of grey but there can be very different shades of grey. The three middle roads would be followed by something like "MLB and MLB teams should feel free to conduct their own analysis of the facts to determine whether or not they want to offer him employment"

And if you take David Savard + whoever else off the team Montreal still gets crushed. If Tampa Bay was forced to comply with the cap during the playoffs it's not like they would have been without Stamkos or Kucherov.

A pretty sad finals, really. Not much sport to it. Montreal didn't even have more than 2 or 3 good scoring chances that last game. Caufield's crossbar wasn't even a high percentage opportunity, just a great shot. Anderson's breakaway he didn't even get a good shot off. There may have been 1 or 2 opportunities in tight that Vasilevsky put good poke checks on.
  21. I'm not sure. They will be eyeing competition in 2022 and thinking that 2021 was a lot of bad luck. I'm sure they would trade Rogers and Berrios but I bet they would only do it for specific kinds of deals with MLB talent coming their way and those deals might not be out there.
  22. Was Matt Kemp injuries?
  23. Unless they trade from the MLB roster for pitching. That might open up space for Cruz. Could even be in one big stinky deal if Minnesota is adding pitching.
  24. hahahah I don't feel so good, Mr. Atkins
