  1. Look at the roster, kid. It's a new franchise. It's possible
  2. Sign Kris Bryant's wife. I bet she can slug
  3. Yeah I'd take Schwarber unless the cost got too stupid. He'd be the DH for me though and Grichuk is on the bench. That's a 2 win upgrade... ... but I get where grant is coming from. I doubt Toronto actually wants to clog up the DH spot. Schwarber is a pretty bad OF, you would not want him out there all the time.
  4. Also Matz was 100% maxed out on talent and it seems like Kikuchi MIGHT have a bit more to offer.
  5. Yeah I don't think the Olson return is that bad. Pache and Langeliers could be everyday players as defense first guys. How much of Olson's 2021 changes will stick forever? I guess it was a full healthy season so the K rate reduction should stick but.... his track record does make me think some regression will happen.
  6. lmao players and their agents will try to milk every penny out of a negotiating team and then get indignant when the team decides to move to plan B? that's just the game, Freddie. you're a free agent; they don't owe you a phone call if they want to trade for someone.
  7. amazing the yankees really do suck lately
  8. I just don't see his stuff as Cy Young good. Now he is young so that could change but I think he needs a bit more in the arsenal to be an Ace. Needs a third weapon.
  9. Or your bookie knows how to tickle your fancy
  10. They can just trade the prospects after picking them. It's not like preventing draft picks being traded forces teams to curate a pipeline of talent. And the teams that want to trade all their picks probably suck at MAKING the picks anyway so maybe they would improve their MLB teams over time without being forced to make s***** draft picks.
  11. Yeah the Jays depth cascade is just a bit awkward. A left handed bat who can play CF would fit well. I guess that's Palacios but he can't be relied on much. Also a left handed infielder who could fall into a platoon with either Smith or Espinal would fit well. This could literally be Biggio if a bona fide starter at 2B or 3B of any handedness is brought in. Lefties, lefties, lefties. Jays have zero good lefty bats even on the 40 man roster unless you consider Biggio one. Maybe this is why Greg Bird was brought in on the minor league deal. Might have to be a trade though because you've named all the worthwhile lefties and the list is so short. And they are so flawed, all of them.
  12. CY yOUNG VOTES!!!????? please
  13. whatever the initial justifications were, the ongoing refusal to allow full draft pick trading is just weirdly paternal and incongruent with other policy decisions
  14. C.R.E.A.NelsonCruz
  15. 4.4 fWAR so far for $27.4M (2020 salaries were pro-rated) so at least he has been more than worth it so far. If he pitches like a league average guy in 2022 and then is at least a positive contributor in 2023 the contract will have been just fine.
  16. It looks like they are trying to go cheaper while saving face or making a half-hearted attempt at competing. Something like $40M off the books with these trades.
  17. Haha that would be insane.
  18. He looked phenomenal at first but the stuff tailed off a bit IMO. I have tempered expectations and expect something like 3 WAR if he stays healthy.
  19. came up as one but he has almost no MLB games there so I think he's just considered a 3B now
  20. Yanks dump the useless Gary Sanchez, get a good stop gap SS/C in Falaffle, and a lotto ticket at a difference maker in Donaldson.
  21. Well you might not see much of him in pinstripes let's be honest
  22. Yeah and with a young team you can reasonably project no decline from the stars (Bo and Vlad and Berrios) and improvements from some of the pre-prime players (Biggio, Jansen, Kirk). Also a win or two extra from Springer. The only two I expect less production from in 2022 are probably Teoscar and Ryu. But Teo might be legit and hold steady.
  23. He surely has trade value but he's not like headlining a deal for a deal for a controllable star or anything like that.
